The song deals with the casualties during White Friday (really a wednesday) in the Italian alps. Thousands of soldiers was buried there by a snow avalanches. Their bodies are still there to this day.

Do know if it is the Dolomites because I been there at Lago di Garda theGarda sea? Very high mountains around the sea. I think it was the most beutiful place I ever visit.
