I knew you’d figure it out, because this is the definitive version for sure. Thank you for airing THIS!!!!🎼🎶👏🏾👏🏾☑️☑️❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥I also like your take on the meaning. There’s definitely not just one answer. My take: Only by unwittingly falling for someone’s false version of love and getting hurt do we learn that it can happen to anyone - even “smart” people. That’s why getting to slowly know even someone you’re “crazy about” or seriously crushing on is wise, because those early butterflies will calm down anyway. Friendship first.

The Spinners' connection to the 'Philly Sound' was by way of Thom Bell, who was a cohort of Gamble & Huff, back when the three of them produced hits for the likes of Jerry Butler. Thom Bell, and his writing & producing crew were the driving force for major hits by the Delfonics, and later, the Stylistics. When the Spinners signed with Atlantic Records, the Spinners were the prime group Thom Bell wanted to produce. Thom Bell is a monster, y'all!

This version is nice though but, personally, I prefer her version. I also love the string arrangements. They certainly don’t make this type of high calibre Soul music, and if you they do it’s often buried. Your subscribers have good taste.
