One of my fave tunes from the 80's, she was the Soul Queen of Britain in the 80's, have a listen to her other tunes, Set Me Free or Breaking Away

Plus her duets with David Grant, which although both covers (Could It Be I’m Falling In Love by the Detroit Spinners and Mated by Todd Rundgren) were fantastic. I was lucky enough to see Jaki support Michael McDonald many years ago and she did the Patti LaBelle part of On My Own superbly.

One of the things I like about this channel. I hear songs from "my" era that I don't even know. Dope song. Saved.

I really enjoyed this & I recognize the song, it is always great to hear a song I have heard before here with a little back story on the artist. Thank you. There are truly tons of songs waiting to be listened to and I look forward to hearing more here! 🎶🎧🎶 Holy cow.

I was 18 when I bought this extended version - my first years of going to decent clubs - great song - she did a few others but this was great. "Step Right Up" by JG sticks in my mind, as I was on the dancefloor in a huge local club with it playing and the DJ pointed out he'd never seen the whole club (dancefloor, bars, walkways) dancing everywhere he could see..

Im a German proud owner of 5 of her smash hits as maxi vinyl single. Also do some some "Princess" research. She rocked as well.

One of my favs too. Such awesome production! Derek Bramble was bass player in Heatwave so he has huge pedigree. ❤️ The U.K. had some amazing soul female artists in the 80's. Haywoode, Mica Paris, Sade, Princess etc. If you like Jaki Graham, try this U.K. 80's club classic by Haywoode, 'A Time Like This'. 'kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKqVr9x_mJnSfJc.html

Im sure this is a 12 inch (stop sniggering, please) version of Round & Round as they were massively popular at the time. Basically an extended version of the 7” with some more instrumental bits. Round and Round is a wonderful song whether in 1986 or 2023 & Jaki was and is a great singer.

I love your really cool reviews of so many unknown classics! You've blown my playlist! Please keep 'em going Just Jammin'. Have you heard "Don't Hold Back" by Chanson? It's a completely underated and unplayed track from James Jamerson and David Williams. But it did well in the Billboard and Uk charts in 1979. Full on and funky. Have a listen if you get the chance!
