A great Moody Blues song. This song is about "the one who got away." Feeling a bit nostalgic, the singer wonders if his long-lost love remembers him the way he remembers her. The song was written by The Moody Blues guitarist/singer Justin Hayward, said that it was inspired by a real person, but one that shall go nameless. Source: Songfacts

First time I saw them was the first time "festival seating" wasn't allowed. Festival seating was where the whole bottom of the coliseum was open for people to be wherever, but here they had assigned seating. My friends and I had stadium seats on the side which were fine, but many people would rush down to the aisles on the floor. The fire marshal would turn the overhead lights on to stop the concert and tell people to go back to their seats. This happened several times. Finally, the band said, "We have enough trouble dealing with your weak American electrical system as it is, and need all the power we can get, so please don't do anything to make them turn the lights on." People cheered at them dissing our electrical system and were well behaved after that.

Every time I hear this song, I get in the mood for a lawn chair at the 🏖️ beach with my toes dug deep in the sand. The bass is just dominating this song and giving it a unique vibe, that goes well with the chiming sounds.

This song is from a comeback era for the Moody Blues, in 1986, riding a wave of nostalgia. They're originally from the second half of the 1960s. What happened is that "Nights in White Satin" would keep getting rediscovered by audiences, and get play on the radio. So at one point they decided to put out another album.

Not exactly. They were together from 1964 to 1974, then re-formed in 1979 and continued until a few years ago. They released quite a few albums through the 80s and had several hits that decade. Not just one album.

They are the band I have probably listened to the most, from the age of 11 to now. I raided my older sister's album collection and found mostly Moodys. I was intrigued by every song on the "To Our Children's Childrens Children" album and "In Search of the Lost Chord". "Legend of a Mind" (that song has inspired at least two people I know to play the flute), and the haunting "How Is It (We are Here) off the "Question of Balance" album were two songs I played a lot. Listening to some compilations albums in the mid 70s got me into their earlier albums. I soon discovered that Nights In White Satin, a song that was hammered on the radio was good, but not their best. Watched them live in 2011 in Melbourne and they sounded terrific. The sign said no dancing. Stand outs for me were "Eternity Rd" and "Are You Sitting Comfortably". Their bass lines and flute work were outstanding. I still have a memories of a lovely and greying long haired woman, probably about 65, dancing dreamily, with eyes closed and gracefully by herself on the stairs - the only doing so. The bouncers left her alone...

"For my Lady" is one of the most romantic songs and "Forever Autumn" is one of their saddest. At least sad for me. I lost my wife of 30 years to Pancreatic cancer back in 2009. She was the only girl I dated or kissed and I married her. Very Nature bound we would go for long walks in the forests of the Santa Cruz mountains where we lived. Being the long haired red headed imp she was, she would stuff leaves down my back when I wasn't paying attention. Those leaves lay undisturbed now. Lyrics in a song can mean so much. I'm now 69 and there has not been another.

It charted #1 in the UK and #3 in the US, selling over 1 million copies however, Long Distance Voyager sold 1,360,000 copies. The iconic voice is the work of Justin Hayward who was inducted into the R&R HOF in 2018. Some must listens from QOB: It's Up To You, Minstrels Song, Meloncholy Man, and Dawning Is The Day. There are some bands/musicians you listen to where watching the accompanying music video can be kind of detrimental to the music, as in it has nothing to do with the lyrics. "Your Wildest Dreams" is one of those songs, where it fits perfectly with the music video, and I hope you manage to see it one day. This always makes me nostalgic because it's music I grew up with listening to on the radio. Also I love the bass guitar in this.

Great music video they made. Old girlfriend who years later shows up at his concert. Sad too.
