"I know you are out there" is the follow up to this song. This video is the old girlfriend reminiscing the relationship to the Moodies frontman Justin Hayward. The next video shows Hayward searching for her after he spots her after the concert, but was forced away.

Their chart placement over the years doesn't do credit to how great many of their songs were. They were a fairly progressive band and tended to fall between the cracks of musical taste. I suppose a testament to their overall strength is that 50 years later people are able to find it worthwhile react to their music - like yourself.

This was such a beautiful Song. I cried when I saw it in the 1980's because I'm sure everyone can identify with what Justin is singing. These guys are true legends. Justin wasn't an "Original" Group Member, he joined after Denny Laine left to Join Paul McCartney & Wings who Sang Lead on their Breakthrough Hit "Go Now". If you can check that song out too. In the UK (even to this day), it's a common practice for British Artists to "Cover" obscure R & B Songs. The Original was done by Bessie Banks that was produced by the late Jerry Lieber & Mike Stoller who were the First successful Songwriting Team in Music who wrote all kinds of Songs for The Coasters (Charlie Brown), The Drifters (There Goes My Baby) and the "Original Version of Hound Dog by Willie Mae Big Mama Thornton. Justin was to The Moody Blues what Peter Cetera was to Chicago, the undisputed Star but unlike Peter who "Left" Justin Stayed. He wrote or Co Wrote many of their Hits. The Poster you see of Budd y Holly isn't surprising because he influenced alot of Folks like The Beatles (an d now Paul McCartney Owns Hit Song Catalogue) not to mention The Rolling Stones. This was because he wrote all of his hits with three basic Chords that you learn when learning The Guitar. The Fashions that they are wearing was inspired by Carnaby Street which is a Legendary Street in London where the Beatles were sent when they got their First Suits as part of a Image Makeover The Supremes also wore Outfits from Carnaby Street on The Supremes A Go Go Album in the 1960's as well. The Fellow playing The Tambourine is Ray Peterson who unfortunately died. He also played the Flute Solo on Nights In White Satin. Also check him out Dancing in "Quieston".

Loved your reaction to this. I'm a Metalhead through n through, and I enjoy a wide variety of music from different genre's too. I had loved this song since it first came out in 1986 when I was a Jr in HS. This song still holds in my heart, and still makes me tear up a bit. You are absolutely right. It is a song about lost love, the love that got away. Only, if it were me in the end, nothing would have held me from running to my Soul Mate, love of my life. Nothing, and for me, the ending of this video is the tragedy of the song. I believe here is something of a follow up video continuing this story, but be abuse of plain old fate, they still can't connect. I just can't remember the song title, something about "I know where you are" or close to those lines..

this was about the time they were fighting one of their members on Court TV. Great song. Had a chance to see them around this time. They were so synth-oriented. When I hear a bass guitar, I want it to be the bass, not a keyboard. Good choice for an updated era of them. May I suggest "Ride my see-saw."

He was not too busy he was swept away by the people around him. And yes do I know You’re Out there Somewhere. The follow up song. This was from the Moodies had a revival/comeback in their career. The early albums, called The Core 7, are not Pop songs, but Progressive Rock & much different. She’s looking a copy of In Search Of The Lost Chord from that era. There’s a song on it called The Actor. No video so try and find the original album version. My fave is The Story In Your Eyes, but Question, I’m A Singer In A Rock and Roll Band & Ride My Seesaw we’re huge hits & still are today. Nights In White Satin is a classic! I’d do that one next. It never gets/got old.

I love this song, and hope You also have a reaction to "I know You are out there somewhere". I wrote a similar song before I heard this (story, not melody or groove) early 1980's, and realize now in the 2020's that back in the 1970's-80's No one liked to admit they still had feelings for "the one who got away"... taboo subject ....unless You were into country music.... And then there was Forest Gump..... HAHAHAHAhaha.
