Yes the third one is still the boss theme, the reason it changes so much is because of uh a certain characters influence, basically one of our allies support coming through, she is also the one singing (attempting to do this without spoilers as the story is quite new)

It's so funny seeing the sudden transition from epic boss music to upbeat idol song without the cutscene and context in between. But you should really check out Robin's album, it has 3 songs, 2 of which you have heard a shortened version of, "if i can stop one heart from breaking" and "hope is the thing with feathers" (the song in todays boss theme). Hoyo really went out of their way with Robin's release and all the songs are very good

Phase 1 and 2 : Boss Fight Phase 3 : Boss fight with FRIENDS 🔥🔥🔥

It's a purposeful choice in game design where at the end of the game or important chapter you design the boss fight in a way that brings the tension to the max and at some point just flip the switch and reverse that tension into positive energy - it's no longer about if we can do this, but we're doing this right here and now! Honkai Star Rail is one of few games that pulls this effect very well. Another good example would be A Hat In Time (no spoilers about how it was done, tho).

another game like that would be monster hunter in my opinion, even if it's only on some specific bosses, the moment when the monster's theme is fading to let place to "Proof of a Hero" is always so strong and memorable.

Oh God without context the switch to the 3rd phase is sudden lol. It's honestly epic and you might need to watch the gameplay of this boss for it to make sense. It's a really powerful moment.

Phase 1 and 2: boss music Phase 3: boss music when you unlock it as a playable character.

The 3rd phase (a song) is a part of the boss battle. But it's like a final stand when we got the upper hand and our friend is helping us with their singing

The shift in music makes so much more sense with more context. But that involves a huge amount of spoilers

The high voice that sings in the boss theme is Robin, the character you reacted to 2 weeks ago and who they released an album for recently, who is helping you fight the boss. You should react to the Robin album as well.

Doomsday Beast? Hype Wildfire? Hype Phantyllias theme? Hype Swarm King Disaster? Kinda hype But This Boss Theme, holy, they pulled something special even for Star Rail I wont spoil who he is because maybe someone gets spoiled, but to make it simple, he is a hidden Villian through 3 Patches now and it concluded in this Fight. And the whole 2.2 Patch is kinda Religous themed, thats why you hear so much organs, and chiors Yes this is the Whole Boss theme, in every Major Boss Fight you get a "helping Hand" to fight the boss easier, this time its a Songstress (because of Penacony, the Planet were at at the moment ingame) and thats her Song, you can imagine it like you beeing in a harsh Boss Fight, you get a very devestating Attack from him in Phase 2, your Team barely survives it, then cutscene and this song as a instrumental version kicks in and goes on, and in phase 3 after a boss transformation it gets the lyrics You get goosebumps everywhere You could react to someone Playing the Bossfight for the First Time, but its a major spoiler if you play the game someday, or you might be still confused in that reaction I still recommend watching the "Cooking with Valkyries" from Honkai Impact, short Videos, with slice of life elements and not the brutal depressing story

The reason this song fits so well as the boss theme is massive spoilers, but I can say that it works very well, because this boss isn’t the typical all out brawl to save the world. It’s an ideological clash over what is best for the world.

i think the boss theme reaction would be better with animation behind, no sound of the voice but the animation, it will give more context.

OMG haven't taken my time to actually listen to the boss theme since I'm too busy taking in the absolute peak of a story and stunning visuals, I didn't expect it to be this freaking EPIC without the battle sfx, like, HOLY SHEESH!

Honkai boss music goes very hard

I believe you ended up missing Arlecchino's boss theme ("The Knave") so I'll recommend that.

The building up of this song is amazing just as the boss fight is! The vocal section is a transition, so it might think it seems really out of place for you but without spoiling anything it really does fit. It probably will not though for you since you have know idea about the story or plot point that is taking place. Enjoyed your reactions to this!

At this point I've come to accept and love the boss themes from Star Rail from Cocalia's buildup to WIldifire to Dominicus's Hope is a Thing with Wings. The boss's theme transitioning to our theme song when we start to steam roll the boss.

In the first phases its pure battle with the boss and in the final phase is the power of friendship and love connecting through the a singer character to save the world. hsr has a singer character, robin, and they recently released an album of three of her songs, all appearing in-game. the part where it flips into a completely different song is her coming in clutch and supporting us as we fight the boss. there's a lot of personal stakes involved and if you play the 2.2 main quest it'll be a lot clearer. fun fact, she's a support character who sings during her ult and that song is also a bop. on that note, if you like her voice and the song, you can check out the album! it's available in the hsr youtube channel as EP videos.

Yes, these are all playing during the same boss fight. It's just that the first two phases, the OST is hyping up the boss dude. In 3rd phase, the song is hyping up our characters lol Hearing this play during the boss fight is really an experience~ But even without knowing the story, I love the music choice here a lot

Also! Highly recommend reacting/watch Boothill’s (the cowboy from past star rail vids) character video. He comes out today! But his trailer has been out for like a week now.

everything from where we pick our characters for the boss to the end of this quest is probably my favourite sequence in all of genshin and star rail combined this took everything that penacony was building up to and capped it off perfectly

This is really one of the best fights in the game, mainly becouse of how the story ties into it in phase 3 especially. The song in phase 3 is called Hope is the thing with Feathers, they released a official version of it but the video has spoilers so best to use this one u were watching.

This HSR story arc and boss had music themed characters / elements. Out of context it lacks some of the impact but the music is still great on its own. Leading up to this in the story there was so much music that the boss battle takes it a step further. React to Robins 3 songs please, one of which is her ultimate ability.

This boss fight theme follows a common trope where the first phases of a fight are tense and unsettling to portray that the Boss is a real threat and the protagonists are on the back foot, but the final phase uses an upbeat and inspiring aound to portray that now the tables are turned and its the Protagonists rallying while the boss is on the back foot, in this case the final phase goes from a back and forth fight to a clash of wills, if you listened to the lyrics you would get glimpew at the conflict, its a rallying cry in the form of a song, i usually have a video playing in the background while just playing star rail but when im farming this boss weekly as soon as phase 2 ends i pause the video to listen to the phase 3 part

Honestly you should watch gameplay of the fight- to see context and also hear the overall sound design, it sounds so good with the game sounds and everything all together. Especially thw final phase with the idol music. It works so damn well.

The theme for the first 2 phases makes it feel like a desperate struggle to see whose ideal holds stronger, while the theme for the third phase gives a sense that theres no way we can lose no matter what the boss throws at you and thats exactly what the boss fight feels like too

frankly you don't have to work in music or major in it to get hoyo mix themes, because like sawano hiroyuki hoyo mix themes are very in your face without much subtleties and you can pretty much know what they are trying to say with them with just some media literacy

Ong Lucas, if you're actually planning to play Honkai Star Rail, now would be a good time to start, with the possibility of catching up sometime before the 2.3 update hits. The reason I say this is because a bit of a spoiler character gets released during then, and it might affect your playthrough of the story. Playing after the 2.3 update is also a good point.

I promise the change makes sense in context haha. I hadn't thought about how weird and jarring it would be listening to it without context but it really does hype up the fight while in the midst of it

The reason why it changes from epic ost to a full of hope song is bc in the first part of the boss fight, we are dominated by the boss and there's no way they're gonna beat it (story wise). Then on the 2nd part, there's a person who is connected to the boss, she helped us beat the boss by her power (the song) and our main characters are finally sees hope in defeating the boss. That's how I understand that situation you should watch the boss fight to know the context (if you don't mind being spoiled)

Sometimes I can only say that you need to know the stories so you can understand the song I understand that if you didn't play the game and get confuse lmao *I also feel a bit weird here even I did play the game (But it's a very smooth and hype moment during the in game boss fight)
