By the way NO One has ever evolved as a band as much as the beatles did in EIGHT years. The difference from their first records to the last is INCREDIBLE. No one will ever do what they did.

THE most covered song of all time. Period.
Paul was only 24 years old in this video. John was 25, George was 22, and Ringo was 26.
Check out the recorded version with the cellos. It’s iconic and the most covered song of all time.
The Beatles are contemporary music. Alpha and Omega. I will die on this hill.
They wrote it and as a music lover you have to look into the history of the Beatles
The Beatles wrote the song, and released it in 1965. They are the most influential pop group ever by a solid margin, so many timeless songs, and an insane wave of hype unlike anything before them. Their songs must have more covers and re releases by other artists than anybody else too tbh

@Petrine, actually "YESTERDAY" was all Paul, no one else helped him with this and the other Beatles didn't even perform on the record. Paul woke up with the melody running through his head. He has related how it came to be hundreds of times over the last 58 years. Eventually he wrote the words to the melody.
That was Paul McCartney singing, now Sir Paul McCartney. He is still singing and performing.

You can’t fully understand modern music without understanding The Beatles.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO HEAR MORE BEATLES SONGS. OMG!
When I was in 3rd grade I was in an advanced music class and rode the high school bus early to school. That year we put on a school show and I played Paul McCartney during I Wanna Hold Your Hand. To this day my air guitar is left handed😂😁
The Beatles stopped touring because the girls were screaming so loud they could not hear their own voices and instruments.

Now I'm surprised. For someone who has so much knowledge about music and oldies, not knowing The Beatles is a sin. Paul McCartney (The singer), John Lennon (on the right. RIP: shot dead in NYC in 1980), George Harrisson (the guy introducing the number. RIP: died of cancer) and Ringo Starr the drummer. All were born during WW2 in the early forties.

After watching reaction vids for awhile it eventually hit me.It's not all that hard. We are talking about people who grow up in a background where it simply is not any sort of a priority. Even as the whitest kid you could imagine, growing up in the 80's/90's it took my own investigation to listen to them, as my parents were not pop music fans and I listened to top 40 and didn't explore much out of that until I hit my teens. Yes, I knew of them, but I was also a quiz bowl geek who watched jeopardy most nights. Truthfully, if you're doing a reaction series, it only works well if your prior music knowledge was very narrow.

@@deantyler007 I don't know, I thought this to be pretty common knowledge here. Literally every reference on TV, parody, imitation etc. all over media has them as British characters so I thought it would be at least obvious even if no one listened to them. Their music and as solo artists are still played on TV and radio to this day. As far as I know, literally everyone I've met in the US would know of the Beatles, some of the individuals, songs or their background even if they don't really listen (for example, someone I knew who doesn't know anything about Beatles and only heard some songs in passing, like a commercial or movie, somehow still recognized Paul McCartney). I suppose there are just a handful of people who choose not to care or follow pop culture or were very isolated to a specific genre and/or culture of music.

He's lying buddy. There's an entire culture on KZread of actors like him pretending they've never heard of things so they can get views from 'First Time Reaction' videos.
I just watched the new Paul McCartney doc on Hulu. In the stories he told, most of the biggest artists in the 60s/70s often covered each other songs. It still happens, clearly, but back then, there wasn't any copyright concerns, it was all about the music. Prime example, 3 days after The Beatles released 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" Jimi Hendrix preformed it live.
You don't know the Beatles? Wow. The song writing machine of McCartney & Lennon! The original "long haired lovers from Liverpool." The greatest, most successful group the world has ever seen!

I love that George said it was from Beatles for Sale 😂
Paul and John wrote over 100 songs together! Not to mention the great songs written by George. The Beatles were the first world famous band. They were huge! And this was before the internet!
Yo dude, how is it even possible that someone as knowledgeable and insightful about music as you are doesn't know that this is the Beatles song??? In case you didn't know, the Beatles literally changed music forever in the 60s, not just music, but fashion and youth culture throughout the whole world! I'm sort of stunned...
The Beetles sang a ton of songs and yes they released this in the early sixties.
Suddenly find myself listening a "music reaction video" from someone who needs to ask whether the Beatles were British. What have I done with my life?!
It's a pleasant surprise that The Beatles is 'taught' in school but disappointing that the lessons are not absorbed. The early Beatles were not the same as end of their career Beatles. They introduced never heard before genres. They started off performing 1950s Rock n' Roll from there they are the ones that created Pop, Rock, Psychedelic, Metal. It's been reported the Beatles ushered in ten new genres
'Yesterday' by Lennon and McCartney (it was actually written by Paul McCartney but their publishing deal meant it was credited to them both) is the most covered song of all time. Also, when he first wrote the song he used the words 'Scrambled eggs' because he didn't have a proper title yet, ('scrambled eggs, how I love to eat those scrambled eggs)...
Motown and The Beatles had an interesting relationship. The Beatles featured lots of Motown covers on the first albums, and Motown artists later covered songs by The Beatles. The influence of Motown can be heard not only in the covers The Beatles did, but in their whole approach to lyrics and vocal harmonies on the early albums. The Motown writers, producers and artists were themselves greatly influenced by the Beatles; as an example, The Beatles sent Motown an advance copy of Sgt. Pepper, and that's what inspired "Reflections", by The Supremes. Motown's artists were some of the few American artists able to weather the storm of The British Invasion, mainly because of the adaptability of the writers, arrangers and producers. This isn't surprising when you consider that the stable of talent at Motown was, for a time, really unmatched by any other production house in the world. And, of course, The Beatles wrote songs have been covered by an amazingly wide array of talent, and their production stood the musical world on its head, album after album. It was natural that artists and producers who demand the finest writing would gravitate to each other's catalogues. An irony was when Michael Jackson bought The Beatles song catalogue; that rubbed Paul McCartney the wrong way, lol, but it just illustrates how intertwined, sometimes like-it-or-not, those two entities were, for decades. Funny, huh? I like the style in which you present your shows; you're a very good reactor, so please continue your shows!

I have never heard of anyone who has not heard of the Beatles! They are considered to be the most important influence on popular music in the past century. The studio recording of Yesterday needs to be heard for you to appreciate it fully. And Yesterday is the most recorded song in history by other musicians.
Yes, the Beatles are from England; Liverpool, specifically. The song was released in 1965, was written and sung by Paul McCartney and has been covered over 2,000 times. It's lyrical theme of self-reflection, heartbreak, loss, and longing was considered remarkably sophisticated at the time since McCartney was only 23 when he wrote it. The Beatles changed the world of music forever in a multitude of ways.
Yesterday might still be the best song for now
First time hearing someone ask if The Beatles are British lol
Whoa! What? Marvin Gaye covered "Yesterday"? News to me. I've never heard his version. But now I'm gonna go look. I've got to hear it! Anyway....this is classic Beatles. Written by Paul McCartney (John might have had a hand in it)....sung by Paul McCartney. It's just too bad they fell apart- too soon. 😔
In several interviews Paul McCartney tells the story of how he dreamt this song. The only time he ever dreamed a song.

A Day In The Life
The studio version of this is worth a listen. Has a more refined sound with added violins and just a cleaner sound in general.
Paul woke up with this song in his head. I think it was at Patty Boyd's house
The background for this song is a dream that Paul McCartney had. When he woke up the melody was stuck in his head and he wrote it down and played it for the other guys and asked them if they had heard it before cause he felt it was familiar. None of the other guys had heard the melody before and no one else either he played it for. Eventually he realized it was his own song and the first time he played it he did so unplugged alone. The studio version of this song is much different than this live one.
The string quartet added to this by George Martin was the cherry on top. You should listen to that version.
I am a huge Beatles Fan!! Rubber Soul is my favorite album but I love them all
many have redone Beatles songs. They wrote masterpiece after masterpiece.
The most recorded and covered song in history; and, Paul McCartney wrote the melody in his sleep. He gave it the working title "Scrambled Eggs". When he was done with it, he took the acetate to everyone he knew to make sure he didn't accidentally steal it because it came so easily. The live performance to watch of this song is from the Ed Sullivan show: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qYyIrKSradfaaLQ.html
The Beatles later years music was really good. Should watch the McCartney 3,2,1 documentary that just came out on Hulu

You have to listen to a history of their evolution during their short time as a band. The things that they did were decades before their time. It's hard to say where to start, but The Beatle's (White Album), Sgt. Pepper's, Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour are an amazing place to start
