A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZread. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZread I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZread won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZread channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

It was written by Mars Bonfire and it was actually written about him buying a Ford Falcon and the freedom that he experienced from it, it just morphed into the biker thing as time went on. There is a video on KZread about it, plug in interview with Mars Bonfire and it should come up, he explains the whole story.

I've noticed a flaw that keeps repeating itself. When you start playing a song & you click the "full screen" button, (from the viewers end) the video & audio cut off and take several seconds to resynchronize. I don't know if this doesn't happen on your end, which may be why this hasn't been fixed. It happened AGAIN on this song & I was pissed because this song starts off right away. So by the time it resynchronized, we (the viewers) missed the opening lines of the song. We ALL would appreciate that SOMETHING be done to fix this problem ASAP.

Others of theirs you should check out are "Move Over", "Draft Resister", "Earschplittenloudenboomer", "Tighten Up Your Wig", "Rock Me", "Round and Down", and of course the very famous "Magic Carpet Ride".

Yes, Steppenwolf has more songs worth checking out for sure. But the images are from the movie 'Easy Rider', and while I would strongly recommend you watch that sometime and experience for yourself whatever it means to you, the soundtrack is definitely one of the greatest collections of music from that era (late 60's). Every song on it is a classic!

@@dagnabbit6187I must admit I'm kinda jealous :) I grew up in the 80s with this soundtrack being one of my favorite records in my parents' collection. Psychedelic songs like 'If you want to be a bird' really sparkled my young mind... They were so utterly weird, and so much fun to listen to! 'Play that bird song again, dad! Pleeeeease?' I must have been about 16 when I first saw the movie (with my dad). By the time I reached my twenties (Early 00's), it really started to hit home with me. Things seemed awfully off, but the pop culture of my own time did not seem to reflect this... (or maybe I failed to find the part of it that did). Rock, metal, even hiphop (which had been great protest music in the early 90's).... They seemed pretty happy with how things were going. Not me, though. So I dove deep into the 60s counterculture as it reflected so much of what was happening in my mind as a young adult. Easy Rider became sort of a gospel for me. Every time I watched it, I discovered a new scene or line that felt so true. It was so much more relevant to me than any movie that I could watch in the cinema. And all my friends have watched it at least once. 'Cause I made them (you might say I was a bit of a pusher...). Quite a lot felt the same as I did. That it was relevant to our experience, while also being so much a snapshot of its time. I believe that this movie is timeless in its message and philosophy and will remain so. (ps, It has become a bit of a rule between my friends here in the Netherlands that when you're sharing a joint, the only way to hint someone is hanging on to it too long: reference 'don't Bogart that joint'. Hum it, sing it or whistle the melody... Straight out asking is rude and will get you nowhere. Same if you want someone to 'roooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooll another one')

@@mrjules1982 Well thanks for replying . Culture is tied in with the March of time for better or for worse . In early 70s there were two breakthrough films about Law Enforcement . They were The French Connection starring Gene Hackman and Serpico starring Al Pacino . Masterpieces . A decade later we got Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy . Oh Well . The cliche . It is what it is . Still I urge you to see French Connection and Serpico if you haven’t.

From Steppenwolf's wiki page, Born To Be Wild is sometimes described as the first heavy metal song, and the second verse lyric "heavy metal thunder" marks the first use of this term in rock music (although not as a description of a musical style but rather a motorcycle). But that morphed into a description of hard rock music that has been with us ever since.

  • @tofersiefken

The short version of part of this song's history is that "Heavy Metal Thunder" was coined as a phrase in this song and when applied to certain early bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin "Heavy Metal" was born as a genre.

This song was written by the brother of the drummer (Jerry Edmonton) and has been used in more commercials and movies than any other song I believe. Don't quote me on that but it's been used massively. Mostly Canadian band - used to have the Hells Angels as free security for their concerts because of this song. The Pusher that Steppenwolf made famous is a song by Hoyt Axton and was also covered by the amazing Nina Simone. Slow Flux was a very underrated album by them and John released an album after the OG band broke up called Forgotten Songs and Unsung Heros - it has a fantastic version of Walkin Blues on it.

Great opinion its a ten. Here is another ten: Magic Carpet Ride. And The Pusher, a 9 in my book. And one day, check out the band WAR and - Why Can't We be Friends? War reminds me of Steppenwolf a little. WAR has other hits like Low Rider, Spill The Wine, Cisco Kid, and Slippin' Into Darkness. And a great one hit wonder is Dr John and Right Place Wrong Time

One of the great anthems of psychedelic rock from the late sixties and the theme from the movie the video was taken from, a movie that changed moviemaking, "Easy Rider," the film that made Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, and Peter Fonda into stars. "Born to Be Wild" was part of a style of music from bands that included Steppenwolf, the Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and somebody who was more correctly beyond category, Jimi Hendrix. The style also strongly influenced the Beatles and the Stones, both of which bands began doing music much within the style for a time, at least. Unfortunately, the taste for the overwhelmingly loud lead guitar at the head of stadium-performance power bands gave way to what I dismiss as dimwit music -- the later Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush, AC/DC, and on and on, and the innovative styles of the early psychedelic turned into standard hooks and cliches of drug-addled three chord noise rock. Oh, well. Things change, and life goes on.

The term "heavy metal" was first used in these lyrics ("heavy metal thunder"). You should watch the movie "Easy Rider."

Steppenwolf is the name of a novel by Hermann Hesse, a German who also wrote Siddartha, a fascinating story about a buddha. In the story, he gets to meet THE Buddha, but the actual name of THE Buddha was Gautama Siddartha, although, of course, this isnt mentioned in the story. Steppenwolf is about a guy with two kinds of personalities (like we all), similar to a werewolf, who turns from a man into an evil beast. From Steppe Wolf . You may like them very much. Try Siddartha first.

Not a guy, but the name of the Band. "Born to be wild" was the outlaw Biker's anthem. Hell's Angles and all of the other Biker groups. Every Biker bar in America played this song. This clip is from the movie "Easy Rider." It was used as a sound track in the movie. Google "Easy Rider."
