I love how Howard Hewitt starts out falsetto then smoothly switches to his natural voice, then goes back and forth.

Shalamar was a successful late 70’s and 80’s Group comprised of two soul train dancers Jody Watley and Jeffery Danial, The Lead Singer Howard Hewitt and Jody Watley both went on to have successful Solo Careers, and they both still perform today, it’s been said by Jeffery Daniel himself that he taught Michael Jackson how to moonwalk and I believe Michael and others have confirmed it..

FYI, Howard Hewitt sang the majority of the songs, and the two others were original Soul Train dancers, Jodie Watley and Jeffery Danials , who is credited with teaching Michael Jackson the backwards slide or more commonly referred to as the Moonwalk.

OMG. The first time I heard this song, was from watching Different Strokes - no lie....LOL. Charlene and Willis had a fight, and they danced to this song at the end of the episode. But, back to this song. I adore it..it is so wistful, and beautiful...and one of my favorite ballads of all time.

I didn't see that, but I do remember seeing them dancing to Shalamar"s "Make that move" on an episode. Janet Jackson and brother Michael were big Shalamar fans.

I was always fascinated by this song and album as well. Although all of the albums were on SOLAR, the first two were mainly written by Leon Sylvers and I thought had that LA/Cali sound. This album featured this one written by Otis Stokes from LAKESIDE and Howard wrote another slow jam on it. Those two being from Ohio brought that Midwest Soul to the album…

Before they were Shalamar, they were The Soul Train Gang. Another group who recorded an album in Philly, with BHY and MFSB. The legendary Norman Harris produced.

we have to be honest, Howard is reason Shalamar is Shalamar, it simply took off when he joined the group. the side Shalamars that Jody and Howard have are not it. You need Howard's voice and Jody's presence and jeff somewhere in the background dancing.
