This is not only a guitar solo. It is THE solo par excellence. For guitarists it is something like Beethoven's violin concerto for violinists. The Mount Everest and K2. Epic colossal gigantic indescribable great unique and simply unmatched. PS and these solos must be never, I repeat never uninterrupted or interrupted by speaking in between. It doesn' t matter if hell freezes over, the sun explodes or zombis nibble on your foot.

Pink Floyd practically invented 'light shows' in the late sixties, because they wanted light effects to enhance the music they were playing, with lots of bulbs with different colours and these psychedelic splotches of liquid expansions reflected on walls and props. Other bands saw the advantage of it and a trend became a must-do. Greetings and well-wishes from Belgium.

I've seen Pink Floyd four times. Once in 74 once in 77 once in 87 and this show in 94. And I've seen Metallica I've seen AC DC all the way to Led Zeppelin and every group in between alphabetically or at least almost every group! I've been to about a hundred concerts in my life and nobody puts on a show like Pink Floyd that's just a fact! I've seen great performances from Elton John Zeppelin yes songs Genesis AC DC and I could go on. But everybody I've seen pales in comparison to a Floyd show! Every song from the Pulse concert has an incredible light show and sometimes movies showing behind them they're all synchronized and they're all different! They're talented light engineer Marc Brickman who basically had a blank check to play with put the light show together and there's nobody better all the way around! You should enjoy just about any song you hear from Pink Floyd and every song has incredible music and deep meaning lyrics!! Enjoy the bottomless Rabbit Hole known as Pink Floyd!

When you said " I wonder if theirs anything more?" Referring to the 1st little bit of light show just after guitar solo #1. I immediately thought of someone back on the Titanic before it hit the iceberg. That somebody spilled a glass of water at the dinner table, one of the other diners makes a comment "Gee I wonder if theirs anything else? " 😳 little did you know what is coming! As others have pointed out there are other songs from the pulse concert that you need to react to next. Definitely Sorrow, and Run like hell.

The 1994 World tour of Pink Floyd was their last. However, David Gilmour did a solo tour with original member Richard Wright on keyboards in the mid-2000s. Sadly Richard Wright has since passed on. Gilmour last toured in 2016 playing only three cities in the United States, New York Chicago and LA. He performed stuff off his solo album along with a full complement of Pink Floyd material, including Numb. Still sounds great!! At age 74 it's doubtful he'll tour again, but never say never. He was asked about it not too long ago and was non-committal. So you never know. One thing for sure, it won't be cheap if he does. The man is a rock legend.

I should add, Roger Waters the co-lead vocalist of Pink Floyd and primary Lyricist and basist (not seen here because he had already left the band by then ), also still tours and does spectacular eye-popping Pink Floyd shows. He toured in 2013 with "The Wall" in stadiums all across America and I believe it was the highest grossing tour in the world that year. He last toured in 2018, and would have toured last summer if not for the pandemic. Last I heard he's still itching to get out!! Here is Roger's version of "Comfortably Numb" from his last The Wall tour with a halfway decent proper fill-in for Gilmour. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4poptycfZfYmc4.html

"High Hopes" from the same concert is a great song with a lap steel guitar solo at the end which no one should ever miss, with David Gilmour citing it as one of his favourite Pink Floyd songs.... "Gilmour may not have described all of the songs as his personal favourites but he did eventually give the game away when he said: “‘High Hopes’ from The Division Bell is one of my favourite all-time Pink Floyd tracks,” tacking on a few more for good measure, “‘The Great Gig in the Sky,’ ‘Echoes,'” he eventually conceded defeat and admitted, “there’s lots of them.”

Back then, Pink Floyd filled the Earls Court seven times within 14 days always with a day off to check the gigantic equipment and I saw this concert in 1994 in Cologne's soccer stadium, together with 75,000 fans. With my 58 years now I have been to dozens of partly very big concert events but what I was able to experience in Cologne has beaten everything. At that time a good friend of mine lived about 500m as the crow flies and could see the arena directly from his balcony. He later told me that as the block of additions with: Wish you where here, Comfortably Numb and specifically Run like hell - kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWaim8F6nae6obw.html - was played, the whole the stadium looked from the outside like the landing of the colorful glittering starship at the end from Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind " because the light show could of course be seen from the outside through the distances between lower, middle and upper stand. Until then, Genesis were the absolute specialists for composed light shows for me. After 2 hours of watching with my jaw down, it was clear to me - there is probably no more or better. And of course the overall experience of light and sound is inextricably linked. When the sphere is still closed, it rotates, transforming the stadium into a huge disco by the spotlights directed at it. Then, when it opens, lasers are directed at it from different positions, reflected by the mirrors on it, creating indescribable effects. You can't see this on the concert video and really must have been there because it's literally indescribable ! In the preannouncement of the concert it was promised that, regardless of where one´s position in the stadium is, listen to at least stereo if not even quatro. They implemented this advertising promise in such a comprehensive and impressive way that I will never forget this bombastic sound experience together with this indescribable light show. And to this day, when I hear this piece, especially during the guitar solo i also get goose bumps all over my body and it leads me to another dimension ! EVERYTIME ❗️❗️❗️👍

Rule One.... You never pause during a David Gilmour solo. Rule two you NEVER EVER pause during a Gilmour Guitar solo. (I almost want you to redo this one without pausing) Aside from you committing heresy by pausing during the solo, you are the best Floyd reaction I've seen yet. You react to the whole show. The lights with the music. Pink Floyd has never wanted the audience focusing on the individual members. They want the audience focusing on the show. The lights are synchronized with the music to amplify and magnify the emotion in the song for the audience. No bullshit theatrics or posing, just musical geniuses blessing the audience with their talents. You really need to go back and to react to the whole concert. Every song(except what you've already reacted to). Start from the beginning and do a full series on the pulse concert. To include your feelings after watching the concert. I think you'd be the first on KZread to do that.

Pink Floyd started in 1965 but lost their lead vocalist Syd Barrett in 1968 due to drug misuse. David Gilmour replaced him & they went on until in 1973 they released Dark Side of the Moon. To them, it was just the 'next album'. But it was a huge international hit and remains one of the best selling albums of all time. It propelled them to be stadium-filling superstars. They 'broke up' in the 80's and an ugly court case ensued with their former bassist Roger Waters. Floyd continued with David Gilmour, Richard wright & Nick Mason plus others into the 90's. Their last appearance was at the climax of Live 8 2005, a minor miracle and they were brought back together by Bob Geldof, who played 'Pink' in The Wall movie. Sadly, keyboard player Richard Wright passed away in 2008 and Syd in 2006. Drummer Nick Mason still tours with older Floyd stuff 'Saucerful of Secrets', global pandemics nothwithstanding.....I've never seen anyone's eyes water at a Gilmour solo...better get a towel ready!!.

Without a doubt, the Pulse version for me is the top of all versions. The whole Pulse setup is maybe not toppable anymore on any concert (if you see the technical and especially the visuals in consideration). Sounding better than the original? OF COURSE. There are approx. 2 decades between the versions. Just consider the studio equipment of the mid-70th. 4- or max. 8-track recording etc. And the studio version is very short in comparism to the live version (maybe its was limited by the LP size)...

It's the same thing with movies with this generation. Something so simple and beautiful gets over-hyped and turned into some sort of event or carnival. I would say he has no respect for the sacred, but it would require that you have an inner-life. A quiet space within ...your own sacred place. For that reason nothing has any legitimacy unless it's witnessed by everyone else. I knew it the minute I saw the mic on the end of his earphones. I mean, who gives a play-by-play during a song?!

As for singing: in the studio version, only two sing - the basic theme is sung by Roger Waters and the chorus is sung by David Gilmour. Since Waters left the band, the main motif at the concerts is always sung by someone else (for example David Bowie, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bob Geldof or - as here - the rest of the band ...), but the chorus is always David Gilmour ... By the way, I've heard many versions of this song, but this guitar solo is the best of all. I really feel happy every time ... Another interesting fact: the first DG guitar solo practically never changes, but the second solo is always a big improvisation and always different ... Just please, if you know you shouldn't interrupt David Gilmour's guitar, don't do it.

Oh I forgot, if you'd like to see PF when they were in their 20s check out "Echos" live at Pompeii in 1971. And if you'd care to see an older David Gilmour performing, there's another great performance of "Comfortably Numb in 2016. Billed as "David Gilmour" instead of PF, as by then David Gilmour is the only Pink Floyd member performing. This video you're reacting to, only has 3 of the original 4 Pink Floyd members, Roger Waters left the band in the late 80s. (I'm completely leaving out Syd Barrett here for simplification)

I’ve seen Roger Waters in Concert probably 5 or 6 times in the last 10 years. I last saw him in 2017. I go to every single one that comes to my area thinking it could be the last one. So, as of then, he was at least touring still.

Little history: Roger Waters had left the band by this point. What you're seeing here is the remaining three original members backed by a plethora of other musicians they brought in to help flesh out the live performances.
