It's also worth noting that when the first few Sabbath albums were released, they were pretty much the heaviest music anybody had ever heard at the time. And it still holds up today.

Hey Polo, man I saw Sabbath live in 1976, one of my best musical experiences of all time, Ozzy was an off the charts front man, Tony Iommi the riff master, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums. This band has influenced the masses for over 6 decades.Glad to see you appreciate their music!
No autotune ,no backing tracks, no nothing but 4 guys that know what they're doing and invented a genre of music. They are the architects of metal. The Godfathers of Metal.
By the way, all the metal bands you've been reacting to owe it all to Black Sabbath.
Hand of Doom studio version is a Must. Deep lyrics, heavy bass , killer groove and multiple tempo changes that synchronize with the lyrics. The song is about the downward spiral of heroin addiction brought on by the horrors of the Vietnam war. It’s DEEP.

Every song on Paranoid is a classic! Hand of Doom is a deep cut masterpiece!
1968 was the year that saw the formation of three bands: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Together, they are regarded as the fathers of heavy metal/hard rock. Fairies sounded just as good on vinyl. Time for some Deep Purple, Polo. 🔥🤘
Many years ago I saw Ozzy at LaGuardia Airport I walked up to him said hi Ozzy I'm going to see at your concert in a few days. I asked him for an autograph he obliged and was very pleasant. He has always been one of my favorite old school rockers. He's a legend.
Black Sabbath "Paranoid" Is A MUST OWN Album..A Masterpiece From Beginning To End.
Much like nearly all metal bands that followed in their footsteps, I got into metal after hearing Black Sabbath for the first time. I was in fifth grade, the song was Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and I have not looked back. Best thing that ever happened to my musical tastes. That jazz fusion rhythm of Ward and Butler is unlike anything else you will hear.

Dude, exactly the same timeline for me and the same album.
One more note, did you notice Tony Iommi's bandaged fingers on his right hand? He had a factory accident a few years previous and lost those two fingertips. Made a few changes to his guitar tuning and strings, and changed the sound of heavy metal forever.

He worked in a factory and on the last day, when he quit to become a musician, caught his hand in the metal press and lost the ends, he initially made his own finger ends by melting a fairy liquid bottle and letting it form over his fingers!

And down tuned by half, and on that day. Metal was born
What makes this song so epic isn't just the music, but the story behind it. Ozzy & Co got jumped in an alley while on tour, calling Ozzy a whole bunch of names and mugging him, so Ozzy wrote this song as a form of revenge.

The studio version is almost exactly like this. Black Sabbath put on one hell of a show, I’ve heard the pleasure of seeing them 3 times. Best part is everyone in the crowd knows all the lyrics so the whole crowd sings along with Ozzy. War Pigs live is mind blowing.
Masterpiece. This is a great historical video of the Birth of metal. This was the earliest days of this genre.

They deserve that recognition for being the creators of this kind of music.
My husband and I had a horror themed wedding and used Black Sabbath' song Black Sabbath as our wedding March. I definitely recommend listening to that one. Ozzy is still kicking butt and taking names. His latest albums are just as good as the stuff done in his younger days.

We will Never see a band like this again. The old bands were amazing and kicked ass..
Took me back to the day when bands would stack their gear up on a stage in a hall somewhere, and the guys would turn up in their most comfortable day clothes to perform.
Aww, baby Ozzy! He was so young here. I've never seen this live performance but I can tell you it's almost note for note like the studio version. Most impressive. Thanks Polo, I really enjoy your calm and considered reactions and you're picking great music 🎶.

Great cover
One of Ozzys best real live performances ever recorded.
The one thing that has ALWAYS amazed me after ALL the reactions and probably 40 years of listening to this song is the fact that NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON has ever commented or questioned that he was walking home late one night and walked up to someone's house and peeped in the window. Hilarious. What ? That's what Ozzy does man. God bless the prince of darkness. Seen him 4 times live. Including Randy Rhodes last show I believe. I know he passed about 2 weeks after we saw him. Ozzy always leaves everything on the stage. Never takes anything home. He loves his fans as much as we love him.
Oh man. U need the studio version of this to appreciate it.
Now you know why he is phenomenal. Angel to demon in one note.
I really was lucky enough to be born and bred in Birmingham (England)and a youngster when Sabbath started off.... they completely set the tone for metal bands for evermore.....there was nothing or nobody like them. I saw them loads of times and I swear I've never seen anyone hit the drums so hard as Bill did. Ozzy is quite a comic personality nowadays but back then he was a genuine rocker living the dream.......Great stuff. Real genuine Heavy Metal standard 👌 It was a great time to be a "brummie "
@ClaireTee123
Жыл бұрын
Also a Brummie, although a couple of years behind you, Birmingham and the West Midlands was the engine room of British music, such innovation and sometimes ignored in favour of London and Merseyside. I am just old enough to remember the noise from factories that inspired Sabbath's sound though.

No.They are father of metal.
Probably the best bass player in rock ,and i just love the way Bill ward attacks those skins ,alng with the riff master Tony Iommi and those unique vocals by Ozzy .
Hard to believe the maturity in Ozzy's voice; this was recorded shortly after his 22nd birthday.
Some of the greatest riffs ever created. Every heavy guitarist owes Tony Iommi $100.
Your comment “ push each other”. In my experience, the talent gets PULLED out by talented. Incredible experience.
Godfather of all heavy guitar mr T Iommi legend 👌👌
Notice how the guitarists (Tony Iommi) finger tips looked strange? They're prosthetic. He lost some of his fingertips in a factory accident ...and still plays like that.
Nice shot of the end caps on Toni Iommi's severed fingertips. Sabbath had a lot of bluesy songs - their original plan was to be a blues band called 'Earth'. They weren't drawing the crowds that they would have liked, and one day they saw a line of people strung around the block waiting to get into the Boris Karloff scary movie 'Black Sabbath'. They decided to make 'scary music', changed their name to 'Black Sabbath', invented heavy metal, and the rest is history.
You are thinning barriers between people whether you know it or not, and I will forever appreciate that about you and others who react to music they may be unfamiliar with. We don’t celebrate our similarities enough
Every B/S song will be you favorite after you listen. Thanks for the reaction. glad you can listen to the birth of metal. Don't know what we would have done without them.😃
As raw as it gets... you picked the best possible video of this song to react to. Great job!
Black Sabbath was my very first concert. Paranoid had recently been released. That was a lot to take in for a 16 year old in 1970. They rocked the place.
The way Geezer Butler plays the base is the old school way , I guess you could say . Bill Ward is an incredible drummer.

Great tuneage! Go Sabbath. Go Ozzy.
ooh I haven't heard this in a long time, thanks for reminding me. Speaking of bass, you should see Cliff Burton play ride the lightning live (metallica) incredible. *actually I meant For whom the Bell tolls. Ride the lightning is great too though.
The swinging jazzy sounds of the birth of Metal! 🖤
No hate, all love bro.. but this is definitely the mighty Black Sabbath and not just Ozzy!
One of my favorites ❤ should check out more Ozzy too
Ozzy is on the Mount Rushmore of Rock. Black Sabbath is the Godfather of all Metal & Hard Rock.
The bassist is the great Geezer Butler, he invented the concept of heavy metal and wrote most of the lyrics.
This whole album is amazing, it's worth listening to from start to finish
Man.... I frickin' love this song.
Old Black Sabbath don't play games... Everyone kills it..
Well said , one of the best bands ever assembled 💯🤘🏻!
There were some great shots of Iomi’s fake fingertips in this one. It’s what gave him his signature sound. Those pull-offs are uniquely him. Love this sone, one of my favorites of theirs…and yes, the studio version is 🔥 too.
This very live 1970 ferrys wear boots song I turn my volume all the way up in my truck... All of this 1970 Paris video is unfreaking believable...
Their song “Changes” is pretty amazing. If you are into covers an artist named Charles Bradley sang a cover of it and it brings me tears hearing it.
Fantastic. This is music I grew up with (I'm 61). Sabbath was my favorite band for a while, there (Zeppelin is my all-time favorite, right up there with Tool). These guys have been accredited as the original metal band, you know? This is off their second album, the wildly popular Paranoid.
“If” you go down this rabbit hole pay attention to the fact that there is only 3 instruments. Bass lead guitar and drums. They created such a overwhelming sound you would think there was six or eight ppl playing.
Oh baby Ozzy 🖤. Holy shit Geezer is playing that bass. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘☮️💜 You can see Iommi's prosthetic finger tips. 🔥🎸🤘
These are the godfathers of heavy metal
I have watched this entire concert several times. I loved every song. It’s also fun to see young Ozzy 😊
Black Sabbath recommendations: Planet Caravan and Changes. Definitely different from the "devil rock" that you would expect from Sabbath and is more like the Psychedelic British music like "The Pink Floyd" who is Pink Floyd but with its original singer.
I have a number of sabbath albums, this track isa favourite. I saw them live around 73 when I was 15
They say this is where metal started. Alongside Zeppelin and Deep Purple, they were considered the "Unholy Trinity"
This is Black Sabbath! Yes! I’m a huge fan, the first heavy metal band I had ever heard. From the first listen I was hooked, that was around 1970 I believe.
This song will really get you fired up. This album (Paranoid) is one of the greatest rock albums of all time! Beginning to end!
I have Loved OZZY since growing up in the 70’s
If you were unaware, Tony Iommi (Lead/rhythm guitartist) lost the tips of his fingers in a machining accident before Black Sabbth made it. His signature sound is due to that fact.
He said, "Son, son, you've gone too far 'Cause trippin' and smokin' is all that you do" Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh
100% RESPECT Mrs O for pulling him in xx love n peace huge RESPECT xxx
So funky. One of my favorites.
Proof that a music genre called “Heavy Metal” was invented in England.

I found black sabbath in my late teens, the music, then the sound of Ozzys voice and the power behind it, I was hooked, more like obsessed. I couldn't watch the Osbornes on TV. I felt like they were exploiting my dad ,making fun of my family. Lol I'm in my 40's went and seen ozzy in concert in Ohio like 2 years ago, still rocken. People of all ages were there. If you want to read a good book " I am Ozzy" it was my Bible for a bit. Lol glad I found this video, sorry for venting my obsession. Much love
Mr Crowley and dairy of a madman
The guitarist lost the tips of his fingers on a metal shear, and you can see the plastic tips. This affected his choice of guitar strings and guitar tuning as well as playing style resulting in that "heavy metal" sound.
the first 4 black sabbath albums are must listens and must haves. this is rock and roll at its peak. The only others to come close are the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and a few others...but to me...early Sabbath is peak cool. Its a vibe.
I saw them live, very early 70’s! Amazing!
1970 Paris videos. During 60s and 70s the French and Japanese recognized music as a creative art form and went to considerable lengths to have good sound boards and videography present, so they archived some good sheet we can watch today. Many excellent bootleg recordings came from france and japan for many of the great rock acts in the 70s era, floyd, zep, purple, sabbath, grand funk.
HOWDY FROM BOWLING GREEN KY!! This brought back wonderful memories of the 70's!! I'm pretty sure this was my very first album OR CASSETTE I ever bought!🤘 BADASSARY RIGHT THERE!❤
Can see towards the end of the video, guitarist Tony Iommi had his 2 right hand middle finder tips smashed off in an industrial machining accident, he would melt plastic and tape his fingers since he essentially lost feeling in those finger tips, he started playing lighter gauge guitar strings and started tuning his guitar down from standard E tuning, that was kind of the nexus of metal guitarists de-tuning their guitars for a that heavier, doomier guitar tone
Godfathers of Metal!
Everyone is an Ozzy fan, some just have not sat down and actually listened to it.
This music was in our football locker room im playing it during this Superbowl.
You noted the drummer and bassist were good players. Well their one of best bands ever. The style was unique for the time 1970's. No one was like them and very few liked them, I did and still do. Thank you for noticing there greatness.
