When people ask why I don't care for much new music.....it's cause this was what I was raised on
When you get the opportunity, I highly suggest that you take in the studio version of this song. It's unarguably a masterpiece.
I'm 65, and this song was and STILL IS considered one of, if not THE BEST "ANTHEMS" of Southern Rock!!( Along with Free Bird of course) Thank you for bringing this true CLASSIC to life once again, by a band that has it's roots here in my area, Tampa Fl.
Hughie Thomasson (Lead Guitar ~ Strat) (RIP), Billy Jones (Lead Guitar ~ Les Paul) (RIP), Freddie Salem (Rhythm Guitar), Harvey Dalton Arnold (Bass), David Dix (Drums), Monte Yoho (Drums)
The Florida Guitar Army! Thank you!
My brother and I smoked 3 doobies and he picked up his guitars and we began jamming. Mom went to the grocery store and came back. She said we had been messing around for over an hour and to get the groceries in. We thought maybe 15 minutes of playing. My brother died in Nam 6 months later, I miss him everyday and have for 50 years. RIP David.
Do yourself a divorce and check out the studio version one day. This song is a masterpiece. One of the most underrated southern rock bands by a lot.
Huey wrote this song thinking of all the legends who died Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix etc. He visioned them playing for everyone in heaven
Played at every biker funeral ever.
One of the best southern rock songs ever performed. Was basically a anthem when I was a teen.😎👍🏻
a lot of people today don't have the attention span to listen to long jams, i still love them
Weren't nicknamed the "Florida Guitar Army" for nuthin'! :)
They were called the Florida guitar army
Dueling lead guitars... awesome

The southern rock anthem! What a great song!!!
I bet 3 minutes after the song the drummers arms fell off lol. That was great!
I love his comment "just give me Jack Daniel's I could listen to this all night long." He gets it !!!
southern rock is the best...deep in the soul and heart of life...thank you...
