    @Melicious --- Huh??? Nah, Gangsta Rap started years before that. In-fact, Schooly D's "P.S.K - What Does It Mean" (Park Street Killers) from 1985 in Philly, is oftentimes noted as the original Gangsta Rap. And of course we have Just-Ice (from the Bronx, NY) and KRS-1. But, 1985, Schooly D and his song "PSK - What Does It Mean" was the real start of gangsta rap. Oh, and Ice T was making gangsta rap before NWA became a thing.

    The city of Compton is in southern Los Angeles County and is overwhelmingly black and Latino. It’s considered one of the “roughest” areas of the county, and that helps explain why it was the birthplace of gangsta rap.

  • @MindTrickedX24

    @MindTrickedX24

    Not the birthplace - the first legit "gangsta rap" song was Schoolly D's "P.S.K.," and he's from Philly; Ice-T later did "6 in the Mornin'," which is probably the first L.A.-based gangsta rap song, and he was more from L.A. proper.

Compton and South Central are our 2 major hoods..Easy E. Passed from Aids.. you guys should check out the movie Straight Outta Compton tells the whole story.. how they got screwed out of their royalties never made any money off that album and how Eazy-E screwed them over in the process.. which led to some good Revenge songs from dr. Dre 'The Chronic'.. and NO Tim trust me you do not want to visit Compton!!!..man this album was and still is the SH*T!!!.. they adopted wearing all black and Raider gear to look extra hard.. there is a 30-30 episode starring Ice Cube talking about the Raiders and how they impacted NWA.... try something from the Beastie Boys 'Licensed to Ill'.. everybody had that album as well.. you guys posting right in the middle of the Laker game its 93-90 miami.. when the Lakers win L.A. is going to go up in Flames once again!!..Love fro from L.A.✌😎
