Johnny was a huge star in France (think Elvis to the US) & often found young talent to do duets with in his concerts. This concert was at the Stade de France which held over 80,000 spectators. He said once that Lara was him as a women because of the intensity that they both put into performing. This song was one of his signature songs & is about a man who kills his girlfriend so we won’t lose her. He is in their apt. and it is surrounded by the police. He knows that he will die in the morning at the hands of the police. So, when you said that the performance was intense it is because the song is intense😊
