I've been listening to rap music since the early 90s, as a young kid, went back and did my research on the OG's like Rakim, Kane, KRS, LL etc and I can say unequivocally J Cole is one of the 5 greatest emcees I have ever heard... every verse is sharp af, every bar hits, every song is real hip hop, he does amazing features and hes done it for over a decade at this point... the man is one of the GOATS. He has only gotten better.

93' Til Infinity is one of the best beats I've ever heard. I'm 35. When it was 93 I was 6, and wasn't allowed to listen to any rap. But when I did it anyway, cuz that's our generation type, it was and always will be worth it.

You grew up like I did my G. Both parents devout Protestant Christian church going couple so I grew up in the church. Only Music my Mom allowed me to listen to we had to buy at the Christian bookstore. Very religious right wing conservative AND both my parents served in the United States Navy so I also grew up military. Born in 1984 & I'm 38 now plus I'm mixed race multi ethnic. Actually lived in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 89' earthquake & also the Oakland A's vs SF Giants World Series. My preschool teacher was a backup dancer for MC Hammer & she grew up in Oakland. Had a martial arts instructor when I was like 9 years old who studied under Bruce Lee. I wasn't allowed to really listen to secular Music but I would sneak around turning on the radio listening to the r&b and rap/hip hop station anyway. We had 2 major stations in the Bay at the time which was 106.1 KMEL & Wild 107 I think? Listened to BOTH stations all the time. Jammed to MC Hammer, Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Too Short, E-40, Nate Dogg, Warren G & many many more including Mary J. Blige, Wu Tang & Method Man. Lived in the Bay from 87' - 95' & then moved away to a different state. Love Cali & Miss Cali a lot. I think I only heard "93 til infinity" just a couple times on the radio but I wasn't too Hip to it. Didn't pay attention to that song until a couple years later. But yeah, I can definitely relate to you my G.
