Harry Nilsson is a singer songwriter who had his biggest success in the late 60's-70's. He has a lot of great songs such as "Without You", "Everybody's Talkin'", "Me & My Arrow", "The Puppy Song", "The Moonbeam Song", "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", "Spaceman", "Coconut". Harry wrote the song "One" which was a big hit for Three Dog Night in 1969.

In 1968 the Beatles held a press conference to announce their new multi-media corporation, "Apple Corps". During the question and answer session at the end John Lennon was asked to name his favorite American artist. He replied, "Nilsson". Paul McCartney was then asked to name his favorite American group. He replied, "Nilsson".

This song is from the album Nilsson Schmilsson from 1971. Harry was a great, unusual performer and very well regarded in the music community of the time. Jim Gordon on the drums played drums for Eric Clapton’s band, Derek & the Dominos. He has a psychotic episode and killed his mother and spent the rest of his life in jail until he died this year.

Harry Neilson is one of America's greatest singer/songwriters to have ever lived. You need to hear "Without you". When Mariah Carrey did a cover of it, young people thought it was "her" song. Are you kidding me? She can't come close to the emotion he pours into that song. It makes my heart cry every time I hear it?! He tells amazing stories, some sad (Father issues) some hilarious. But always entertaining. Like the part where he's screaming "we can make each other happy" no ... don't think so. You get it, that's why I love your reviews. You should hear "without you" "the coconut song" "driving along". There's so many songs of his ... so sad he's gone now just like many great artists, he drowned himself in alcohol & a lotta blow, I guess it was all he had at the end? But ... keep up the great work & I plan on emailing you. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment. But when things slow down, I'd love to talk music with you. It's a passion of mine & has kept my sanity in times of trouble (let's just say). Peace to you & have a very Merry Christmas

My prepubescent self (age 13?) knew this was great, with no guidance, no rock and roll mentoring from anyone else at home. i was in a big family of 11 children. Thank goodness, that when my great Aunt Annie died, my mother let me have her red, bedside radio. Why she gave it to me, of the 11, I DO NOT KNOW. That radio was also how/where I heard Smokey Robinson (Motown star), sing Tears of a Clown for my first time.
