The hype she's getting is not enough tbh. She is born in Morocco, went to Canada with her parents when she was 1 y.o. She is 21, computer engineering student. She speaks Arabic, English & French. She plays piano, violin, guitar, percussion and cello. She never had any vocal lessons. She taught herself how to sing. Her latest song called "puppet" is just released today. React to her other stripped versions.

“Bad Dreams” is mine, but I listen to “This Mountain” when I need a lift. She is such and interesting songwriter.

Faouzia is Canadian of Moroccan descent (perhaps all her great runs come from there, and she says she never had formal voice coach, grew up in Winnipeg(? ) and graduated from college. She is in early 20's and is a song writer of all her songs, including tears of gold (and in a duet with John Legend). I am glad you choose this song sung by herself in empty theatre because the record industry has put a lot of junk in her recent performances. Anyway a great talent!

@@itzel1735 When I hear more Faouzia sing, I am so glad she did not have formal voice training in the West. What if Faouzia had gone to Juliard and become an acclaimed bel canto diva, so what? The world would have lost a once in a generation (21 year old) song writer and singer!

She's 21 and never had any vocal training.

Never heard of her before and her music is not really my thing (this striped down version is better imo than the full song I just tried to listen to. I immediately didn't like it) but she's a great singer and far more entertaining than that Morissette woman people have been reacting to a lot lately. Morissette literally makes me yawn mid song every time. Her music and voice are so boring to me. Anyways, I'll give Faouzia another listen. Maybe she has other stuff I may find interesting. She certainly has something unique going on.
