👉This song is Dimash’s calling card. That is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (That is what Dimash calls us fans.) The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZread ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). A few months later Dimash sang this song here, as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the competition 'Slavic Bazaar 2018'. The International Arts Festival “Slavianski Bazaar“ is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus since 1992. Its main program is devoted to Slavic music (also a Competition).

Also, one of the reasons that Dimash was invited back as a guest at Slavic Bazaar is because he had won that competition previously at an even younger age. When he went back to his home country of Kazakhstan his award was celebrated highly, because he went to Belarus representing the best of Kazakhstan. He became widely known as a great singer in his home country then. He had only won competitions in his home country before and had sometimes been criticised for his highest notes, for screaming, and for mixing classical and contemporary styles in one song. All these things make him the best and most unique singer now, but were frowned upon by some classically trained judges and vocal coaches. One said 'Less is sometimes more. Just because you can doesn't mean you should'. The same criticism is levelled at him even now, by people who don't 'get' him. Dimash is taking music to a new level that has no boundaries. That is his whole point. Music has no limitations and nobody should try to box you in. He himself will not sign to a record company. He has his own creative arts company and works with chosen musicians, film directors, producers, arrangers, dancers, singers and songwriters. He does live performances and concerts but his main push is within the digital world. Everything he does is through online social media channels and the fanbase grows internationally through that rather than through touring. He is absolutely new school. What he does for the future of music and the creative arts is ground breaking. Not only that, he's a really nice guy. Funny, big hearted, honourable, humble, family orientated, respectful. Grateful for everything in his life. A thoroughly nice person and someone anyone would be happy to know.

The song was written by French composer Daniel Balavoine as part of his rock opera Starmania.

SOS is a song from a French Canadian space opera called Starmania. The original singer passed away, and Dimash first sang it as a tribute, from what I hear. In the opera, I'm told that the protagonists gf died, and this song is his mourning over her.

@@eviljeep yes, he did, didn't he? 🌞💕 I'm surprised, however, to hear your criticism of his French pronunciation given most French citizens I've watched do reactions of this particular rendition have always complimented his diction & pronunciation unlike the 1st rendition in the Chinese TV competition of " I am a Singer" where his French wasn't quite as good they said. But, as you said, his performances on the international stage have been excellent. I believe he's the best singer ever and am thankful to be alive to hear him in this way with a possibility of seeing him live, in-person before I die.

I speak french very each day of my life and i just say that, sometimes, he's getting some difficulties to pronounce some words. It's ok, he's great and i'm proud of him to have the courage to sing that song at this level👌 btw, i'm sure that my writing english have some fails too. That's part of the game, and it's ok 😁

The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020. I know that when I first heard Dimash sing this song. I was struck with a Divine realization. I was in the presence of greatness. One of those rare times where the rest of the world kind of fell away and really got to enjoy the experience. The amazement came after and then I watched it like 20 more times because I was amazed and that was my experience. Then after that I was introduced to LP the same day the next song after SOS from Dimash was live session Lost on You, which at the time had something like eight thousand views. Now it's got over a billion. Well deserved, although I have to say that this guy is the one that should have that many views. However in actuality they are both something to behold for different and various reasons. Dimash takes the Cake in sheer Ah and Wonder.

GRUBBY DIMASH Terry Lin doing "Feelin' Good". a beloved classic ! ( close personal friend of Dimash, perform in each other's concerts) is well worth a look at. Several years ago, Dimash found out at the last minute he was going to be alone on Christmas, literally raced out the door, caught a plane and called a mutual friend to go over there and make sure the door was open. A small knock and a grinning Dimash face peered around the door and Lin's stunned face caught on her cell phone as Dimash bounded in, grabbed him in a bear hug and swung him around yelling Merry Christmas! Wearing the grubbiest knit hat, sweats and tennis shoes in the East, you know the ever elegant Dimash left in a rush!
