Professional sound recording engineers and vocal professionals say no, one one else is singing with Diana Ankudinova. She has mastered a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing. Mastering the polyphonic singing technique gives Diana the ability to create 1, and sometimes up to 2 different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and can sound an octave, or an octave and a half above. It’s this polyphonic singing ability that can make it sound like more than one person singing which is why sometimes people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of artificial voice manipulation like Auto Tune, or she is using pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off stage in the background. Diana has been accused of lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. What you are hearing in the background is a backing for the track musical score, along with a choir also on a backing tracks that’s used to fill in and round out the performance. @@natalia_R Вы правы, здесь и во многих её выступлениях, используются беки, а так же на мой взгляд излишняя реверберация. Это издержки ТВ шоу. В то же время есть много выступлений где она выступает без беков и звуковых эффектов, даже просто на телефон и от этого её голос нисколько не становится менее богатым и уникальным

​@@user-lc3wi6qz8xда, абсолютно согласна. Просто, если честно, постоянное упоминание о полифоническом пении немного напрягает. Конкретно в этом выступлении полифонической техники я не услышала. Я услышала 3 октавы, шикарный грудной регистр и шикарный головной, уникальный тембр, отличную вокальную технику. Это выдающееся выступление, одно из лучших у Дианы. Это высокий уровень профессионализма. Но никакого отношения к полифонии. Просто не нужно, как мне кажется, жонглировать терминами, которые мало кто понимает. Диана - уникум. Я желаю ей оставаться собой, совершенствоваться, найти свой репертуар, развиваться в нём, заниматься вокалом и не идти на поводу у вкусов публики.

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique". You're now hooked!!!!

Так что их "экспертное" мнение слушать - это самообман. Я скорее послушаю зарубежных учителей по вокалу, которым её нахваливание не даст ничего. Им просмотры дают просто одно упоминание и реакция на Диану, а не её нахваливание/критика. Про стагнацию - не согласна. Собирает она залы ценителей именно её голоса, а не "шоу". Её Игорь Крутой на поп-эстраду не пускает, потому что там она точно увянет - там упор идёт всё-таки на шоу, скандальность, сексуальность и прочую подобную грязь, которая к вокалу не имеет никакого отношения. The video you watched is cranked down for some reason. Diana is a monster of a vocalist that compares with no one else on this planet. She is a powerful Polyphonic Dramatic Contralto with a huge range, extreme vocal abilities and a unique timbre. The things she can do with her voice are unattainable by others and you would think that they are not humanly possible. The more you watch and listen from her, the more unbelievable she gets. She is the "Queen of goosebumps", a "Shaman", a "Siren", a "Valkyrie", a "Goddess" , she has the voice of mother Earth.

Blake, sorry for the length of this comment, but there is a lot information to give. This performance took place on September 25, 2021, when Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old and a contestant on a new televised Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn”. This competition was shown one episode per week, over a nine week period. Diana competed against 8 other professional singers who were also members of the judging panel. Based on each individuals performance they awarded judging points to each other. When not performing Diana was also a member of this judging panel which brought the contestant total to 9 individuals. Each singer was required to performed a different song each of the nine weeks, and each person had to use different genres and different styles of music. One of the 9 songs Diana performed was her cover of the Elvis Presley classic, “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. This performance showed what many vocal professionals have previously said, Diana Ankudinova has developed into a true contralto voice type, and for those that may not know, a contralto voice is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare. Diana opens “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, in her deep contralto voice. During an interview Diana said she was unhappy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and it was this lack that kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies. After one of the most prestigious academies rejected her, she decided, along with her voice teacher to concentrate on improving and extending her upper range. Now, to answer a very commonly asked question about Diana’s vocal range, because vocal range is a major point in defining a female singer's voice type. At age 13, in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, a solid Alto range, but low for a 13 year old girl. In 2021, 5 years later at age 18, during her “ShowMaskGoOn” performance, Diana’s vocal range was again measured. Her functional vocal range now measures from a low of C3 (male tenor range) to a high of B♭5 (Mezzo Soprano range). The improvement to her upper range is also on full display during the middle part of this performance. But it's not just how low or high she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper and lower registers, and her ability to transition seamlessly between both her lower and upper registers. It's in her timbre, the roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice. Coupled along with her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance that further define Diana as a Dramatic Contralto which is the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice type, and is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. The depth and power of her full Dramatic Contralto chest voice is on full display during the final section of her performance. So the question becomes, how does she do it? How does such a young female singer achieve the low, round, rich, deep, resonant, and profound sounds? Without being able to actually scope her vocal tract while she is producing these low notes to actually see what is or is not happening, the general conciseness from many vocal professionals seems is simply to attribute Diana’s unique vocal ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx (voice box), also appears to be larger, and her oral cavity (mouth) is larger, plus her pharynx (throat), similarly appears to be longer than other female singers. This combination of vocal anatomy gives Diana the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, full sounds that along with her unique tone quality makes her stand out, but without actually scoping her vocal track, there is no way to be 100% sure. To conclude, midway during Diana’s performance the judge on the top row who stands is a well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan, who was invited to be a jest judge for this first week. Yusif is also married to the world famous Russian opera soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Diana Ankudinova’s performance, Diana receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. A fellow judge and competitor, Julia Parshuta, the blond woman standing in the center row dressed all in red is well-known in Russia as a contemporary singer. Julia Parshuta looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance, puts both hands on top of her head with a look of total bewilderment and disbelief. Finally, the 9 week competition concluded on November 20, 2021, with Diana Ankudinova was awarded the most judging points from the other competitors over the 9 weeks, and was declared the winner of the series of nine programs.

OK, so you want more. Diana was 18 in that one, 20 now. I suggest going back to 14 year old DA singing "Rechenka" a traditional Russian song. Then on a year to her "Wicked Game" at 15. Up to date her solo version of "The day you ..." which shows of her musical skills at the top level.

I wanted to write that if it weren't for politics, Diana would already be famous all over the world, but then I thought about it and realized that she already famous. Diana is listened to and admired on all continents: In America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia, if there is Internet in Antarctica, I am sure that they listen to Diana there too!)

Love this girl's work. Russian. Tragic and traumatic early life. Saved by an adoptive mother. 18yo in this performance, Diana is now 20yo. D's a contralto, the lowest type of female voice though she has lovely upper extension and about 3 octaves range. Many say a dramatic contralto, though that's strictly an opera term that is inappropriate here. That said, she is a contralto and she sure the heck is dramatic. This girl has full control of the best resonance chambers in the business and the harmonics she produces often give the sound of two voices - especially when a clever sound engineer winds them up in the mix. Diana has recordings that'll give any international singer a run for the money. These recordings start at age 10, though they become astonishing from age 13. @@hearingninja Long ago, in one of those fan Q&As, I heard Diana say a duet with Dimash was unlikely because their tessituras were so different. That was then. We knew in this recording that she was gaining vocal height, but the 4th floor is a testament to her serious and hard work.

Yes 👍🏽 Diana is a dramatic contralto with the ability of a polyphonic (two separate notes) tone. She can indeed harmonize with herself. No other Female Vocalist in the World sounds like her. There are so many songs that are my favorite…I’ve been a fan for over five years but her vocal range has expanded. I love her original songs and her recent duet with her long time friend and composer of many of her originals is Amazing. This was an Annual Music Event and they collaborated on a beautiful original song. Thank you for your astonished reaction, while keeping it simple and allowing the performance to flow. I am amazed by the number of people who noticed that it was running slow, (5% measured), which means the whole performance is about a semi-tone lower, it was only when running the original side by side, that it became obvious to me, it then, did in fact sound a little off key and yet still impressed. The full video with comments of the other 8 judges/fellow contestants and one guest with excellent English subtitles translated by Diana's team is worth watching. The other contestants are all established stars, they were all blown away by Diana. Go for Rechenka age 14 and Wicked Game age 15 next.

Diana is magical. I've listened to DIana for years now from Texas. Explore Wicked Game at 15 years old. Same dark twist and atmospheric performance as this...she's one of a kind. Totally unique. People have called her the Queen of Goosebumps for half a decade now. You can probably appreciate that. 😄 Diana is polyphonic. That's why you hear so many fragments of other frequencies in her voice. She's also a dramatic contralto. These are females who have the deepest-ranged voices with heavy tones out of all the traditional classifications. This is the darkest, most powerful voice. Not operatic. Her voice is trained to sing modern music. And since she is not an opera singer, the term “dramatic” doesn’t really apply to her…it’s better to call her simply a contralto with a very dark timbre

It may have been mentioned...but, Diana is a very rare Dramatic Contralto, who has a natural polyphonic overtone to her voice. Of course its been worked on in training but she was born with this ability. Her backstory (her early years) were tragic but a woman at the shelter adopted her and the rest is history. Yes she is Russian.

Diana's music video for *Baikal* (OST the Spirit of Baikal) is a masterpiece all around. A must watch 100%.
