As someone who was widowed suddenly, this song kills me. She describes the feeling walking behind your husband's casket so accurately. You're out of it. You're stuck between so much pain you just want to scream out of control and a state of shock of your brain protecting you. None of it seems possible, and people are saying he's not coming home.

Normally I love his sincere reactions to songs and don't want to spoil anything for him, but I feel like since he's mentioned having a rough childhood, it might be worth warning him that Concrete Angel is an extremely heavy song that deals with child abuse and situations surrounding it.

She was an American Idol winner, now she is a Country singer super star! Her voice is AMAZING!

You’re a good guy. The pain is intense, and you can’t understand how the world is still moving around you.

I remember watching this music video with my sister when we were little, and I actually turned to her near the beginning (before the lyrics even really started) of the song and was like “wouldn’t it be crazy if this was actually a funeral and not a wedding?” And uh…..well I was right. One of the craziest memories I have of reacting to videos like this. Also, a LOT of Carrie Underwood’s songs are about things like this. Church Bells is one of my favorites, and it’s about the abuse of a spouse.

If you want some country songs with good quality storytelling I recommend: Here comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts Whiskey lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll

The part that drives the knife is the line “I can see gods face”.. oh, I was able to listen to that song but as someone who lost a loved one not too long ago in my life, that line just hits me so harshly.

This song came out when my oldest son was deployed and his den fiancé really was only 18, he was 19. So yes, he was still my baby. This song made me cry every single time it came on.

As a Veteran, this one hits me hard because a squadmate self-deleted right as I was processing out. I handed his mom the folded flag...
