A slow Billy Joel song that isn't often reacted to: And so it goes. Very heartfelt and vulnerable.

This and "She's Always a Woman" are my favorites.
Billy Joel has resumed his residency at Madison Square Garden, where he's been selling out since 2014. He's performed roughly 180 concerts and every one is sold out. Where other acts retire to Las Vegas, Billy holds it down at the concert mecca, MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IN NEW YORK CITY 😎🎶🎤

Here's a warning for you about Billy Joel - he had *a ton* of hits that have become standard love ballads, like Just the Way You Are, She's Always a Woman, She's Got a Way, Honesty, and so on. You might get the wrong idea that he writes a lot of elevator music love songs. And he has written some good ones. But don't get the impression that he doesn't know how to rock. He totally does. Billy Joel fans can tell you what else he's got - Big Shot, Angry Young Man, Pressure, Only the Good Die Young, A Matter of Trust, River of Dreams, My Life ... and some of the album cuts like Stiletto and Close to the Borderline. Don't put this guy in a box, and you'll find a ton of music that you'll probably like.

Billy Joel has so many hits that he would keep you busy for a long time. After all, he is the "Piano Man"
This is the first billy Joel song I remember hearing and the reason I first fell in love with his music

My sister and I still bless my mother for letting us go see the "52nd Street" tour in OKC. Billy destroyed that night! We found out much later in life my mother was a fixture at the Louisiana Hayride concert scene during the 50's. She knew Elvis through a mutual friend in Shreveport (we have the photo) and conned her way backstage at a Ricky Nelson concert by posing as a high school newspaper reporter with granny glasses that burst into tears when told her name wasn't on the list. After high school she moved to New Orleans and became a dance instructor. Carol Ann was a very cool chick and I can't listen to Bill Joel without thinking of her.

Billy Joel and Elton are THE two big fish in the Singer Songwriter pond
@iainsmith2434

Which means Billy Joel is high on his own pedestal, because he writes the lyrics and the music , Elton only ever writes the music score. Bernie Taupin does the vast majority of his lyrics. There are a lot of musicians that do both but not as well!

@@iainsmith2434 True but Elton did write songs Bernie Taupin wrote the Lyrics to most of them..Harry Chapin was a fellow Long Island singer songwriter that Billy Joel adored..The Piano man was written in Harry’s style..also another great one was Jim Croce!
When I was in the Navy I was stationed at COMNAVFORJAPAN in Yokosuka Japan which is outside of Tokyo. I was fortunate enough to see Billy Joel May 1984 live at the Budokan in Tokyo. The Budokan at that time had some of the best acoustics in the world. It was fantastic and the sax player was out of this world. I even got to meet his wife at that time Christie Brinkley.
Billy Joel could be a major rabbit hole for you. So many great songs. If you want some more of the slower Billy Joel songs, any of these would be great to react to next: Honesty, She's Always A Woman, New York State of Mind, Honesty, Innocent Man, Vienna, She's Got A Way. Moving away from the slower songs, here are some other great Billy songs to react: Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, Only The Good Die Young, You May Be Right, My Life, Tell Her About It, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, The Stranger, Pressure, Big Shot, Movin Out, and A Matter of Trust. Even with all those suggestions, there are still quite a few more great songs worth reacting to.

The sax part on this track wasn't played by Billy's longtime bandmate, Richie Cannata - it was jazz legend Phil Woods. That dude swings HARD, man. Richie's a fine player, too, but Phil is just a whole new level.

My wife and I got tickets for our anniversary from our daughter to see Elton John and Billy Joel in their Face to Face tour years ago in Los Angeles, . Amazing! The Sax player is the same guy that was on stage during that show. Still sounds amazing.
I was born in 1964, which means my love for Billy Joel is absolute down to my musical DNA. My favorite Bill Joel deep track is "Stiletto" because up tempo songs about heartbreak are among my favorites and this tune SHREDS!!!!!
Billy Joel has a ton of beautiful romantic songs, as well as iconic melodies that makes you think, reflect and cry. Songs like: "Goodnight Saigon" (About the Vietnam War), "New York State of Mind", "River of dreams" and of course "Piano Man".
This song is from his record entitled "The Stranger". The entire record IMO is PURE GOLD! I always enjoy your reaction, TY.

Billy is such a masterful song writer..His life story is amazing, he was cranking out these MONSTER hits and starving...the reason and rest of the story is the amazing part! Lovely reaction.

Timeless classic , great to see young folk appreciate gold songs of yesteryear. 👍
Incredible songwriter
Watch as much as you can live with Billy..
Billy Joel has an excellent voice is a superb musician and on top of it all is it master crafter of lyrics. That's a whole lot of talent. His lyrics actually makes sense they're not just a bunch of sentences is that rhyme.
New York state of mind live from old grey whistle test. One of the best performances ever.
My Life and Allentown are great too, as are many others by BJ.
There a certain specialness in finding someone you can be comfortable with, as you go through life.
I love this song. I love Billy Joel. This song reminds me of 10cc's I`m Not in Love because of the otherworldly quality and the multitrack vocal in the background.
My favorite Billy Joel tune of all times.
Love Billy Joel, he's got some serious chops
movin' out is exquisite
'Piano Man' is so beyond heartfelt, and 'Big Shot' is mind blowing as well...and on and on. He is supreme.

A Gem by Billy Joel !!
I have seen Billy over 30 times in concert...one of my all time favorites.....New Your State of Mind, Shes Got A Way(greatest hits version) and You May Be Right absolute musts
I am so thankful that my parents listened to a big variety of music as I was growing up. Billy Joel being one of my favorites.
We I was a kid my grandmother had a keyboard which had this song as its demo song. All us kids loved just letting it play over and over. Fond memories.
Saw him on the ‘Innocent Man’ tour in London in ‘84. Before he played this, I remember him saying “This is not a Barry White song”.
As you get older, and are married for years, this song carries a lot more weight. This was popular when my wife and I were teens. We’ve been married 41 years, I’ve gone through a Marine Corps career of 22 years, she’s been a banker for 30. I have leukemia from Camp Lejeune, neither of us are they way we were, but we still love each other like back then.
This is my favorite Billy Joel song and he has so many great songs. He is very soulful and can express feelings so easily. Billy Joel is great
This song played at every wedding reception dance in the 80s.
Another great Billy Joel song is Hey Girl
Makes me nostalgic of my childhood. ❤️

Grammy Song and record of the year!
That was fire 🔥
Billy Joel Always a Woman to me
the drummer had the idea to set the lyrics to a "bossa nova" Latin beat; that's what made the song so different from a standard love song; it's that BEAT that informs the sax solo too; genius Bossa Beat
I’m Glad people are Appreciating Billy Joel! My first concert 🎶 when I was 12, not my last!
I think we 70's kids had the best music ! ;)

My favorite Joel song, by far! Since day one. He wrote this song as a present for his first wife Elizabeth. Such wonderful lyrics. Absolutely.
Phil Woods, is the sax musician on the song. A well-known jazz performer and Grammy award winner.
I love the background vocals , there are several songs from this era that have those same type "aaaaaaahs" in the background that I love in a song , the band 10cc has a similar sound.

THE BEST POP song lyrics ever.
You can't go wrong with Billy Joel, and you cannot touch him musically as far as I'm concerned. He has something for everyone and it's genius. in my book he's up there with the songwriting greats, and performers, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Lerner and Lowe, Rogers and Hammerstein, Carole King, Carly Simon, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Lennon, McCartney Harrison, Jimmy Webb, any of them....loo them all up and read about them, and see what I mean...there are a variety of elements in his music - jazz, rock, soul classical, reggae, blues, or rhythm and blues, Broadway musicals, doo-wop singers...you name it, it;s there, and a poetic lyricist, and story telling, not just words lapped together for a catchy phrase. Or cussing your butt off to impress the mass of idiots how many swear words you know. this is total class.
hey you guys...... that was just a REAL... "back n forth" between you two.... respect for each others feelings.... not just our own agenda... what works for us both... US BOTH... and working in ernist to achieve THAT goal... BOTH... not just his or hers or "MY"(selfish)... but goals you BOTH have.... you guys are a very sweet couple... peace
Nothing like good sax!!!
A great song he did, very sad, was "Goodnight, Saigon", a tribute to Vietnam veterans. The official video or the live version is great either way.
My wedding song..... good stuff!
Nice one guys. Could tell BJ was feelin it towards Asia...
Billy Joel is one of the most amazing singer-songwriters. His library is extensive and you will enjoy going the Joel Road.
I played tenor sax 8th - 12th grades and practiced more with Billy Joel than any other artist because he had more tenor saxophone usage in his songs than anyone else. Richie Cannata was Billy's saxophonist from 1975 to 1981, which was the timeframe of greatest sax solos in Billy's recording career. They were his best albums in my opinion, and he was consistently in the top ten for album sales. If you want to see Billy and his band performing live back in those days, check out "Billy Joel - New York State of Mind (from Old Grey Whistle Test.)" It was filmed in England on BBC in 1978. It really shows off Billy's skills on piano and Richie's sax skills in extended solos. You'll probably hear the influence of Ray Charles on Billy.
Why don’t you two go see in concert !!! He’s still playing monthly at the Garden in NYC! I’m sure if reached out to him , he would get you great seats!!!😉
The STRANGER one of the Best albums of all times!
Billy Joel wrote this song about his first wife, Elizabeth. A pure expression of unconditional love, he gave it to her as a birthday present.
I know I've said this before... but you two are the best down to earth reactors on you tube! Please keep reacting!!!!
Starting from the, "Don't go trying some new fashion" there is a big 'angelic' sounding background. which gets louder through the verse. That was taken from another band called 10CC, and the song "I'm not in love". If you get a chance, check that song out. It's worth a react. and once you hear it, you'll get what I meant about the 'angelic' background.
I always chuckle with this song because this is one of the few songs my mom and her friends were visabley goo goo gaaga...when it came on the radio!!! ❤💛💙
Play this on date wine night by a fire 🔥
This will always be my all time favorite song.
When I was little (I was born late 1068), this was one of the multitudinous artists spinning on out buffet turntable. My brothers and I ate it up. Billy is an enormous influence on my poeticism. So happy to see it go into you both!
