I think Beth is the greatest singer in these days. And always great musicians with her. This piece , like others, I listen to every day and I never get tired of it! There is everything in this performance, anger,passion, love, despair, tenderness, forgiveness as in all her songs in which you can live what she is singing.Thank you for these gifts Beth!!!! LOL…”…a little bit of drugs…” Philip, Beth was in therapy by age 7, an alcoholic by 11, and in a “relationship” with a 38 year-old man at age 12. By age 27, she nearly died as a result of mental illness and drug addiction…As you can tell from the lyrics, Beth had no problem sharing her personal struggles-this song is the title track from the 2003 album that resurrected her career (in Europe) after her complete personal and professional collapse in 1999. You are correct that the song is ultimately about hope. You owe it to yourself to watch some of the documentaries about her life…I can send them on Monday

Very touching

Like Beth said, this is a song from early in her singing career. I think she said it was one of the first songs she wrote. Another one that I love from around the same time is Sky Full of Clover. I don’t think there’s a music video, just a lyric, I believe, but it is one that moves me every time I hear it ❤️

"I'm Setting Me Free" is telling another part of her story. And she wrote it for women, who are trapped in toxic relationships. Beth Hart is true. And she is one of the greatest singers alive.
