    My favorite Aerosmith song. I'm guessing the Mom knew what was going on because one of the lyrics was nobody believes her. He got what was coming to him. Every dog has their day

    She watched him going into Janie's room. She definitely knows. That is Lesley Ann Warren playing the mom, Kristin Dattilo is Janie, and Nicholas Guest is the dad.

    If you listen to the words of this song, especially while watching the video, the message/meaning is super clear. Yet so many reactors completely miss what it’s about so I have to praise you for paying attention and getting it lol. Steven Tyler said it was after reading an article in the paper that he got the idea for the song. Afterwards he started a home for abused women also.

    When this song came out, it was so impressive that such a popular band brought light to such a dark subject. Try "Love in a elevator" by them. Much more upbeat and fun song.

    I think I'm the end her mother overcome with guilt helped Janie drag his body out of the office and under the train and then told her to run. Janie couldn't have dragged him all by herself. It doesn't excuse her mother's actions. It's why Janie felt she had no other choice.

    The 80s came out with quite a few top list songs about child abuse (sexual and/or physical), as well as partner abuse, etc. Many of the 'adults' of the era just waved it away as kids telling stories to their devil music... but we *listened* to the lyrics, and made sure the message went around. Try Pat Benetar's 'Hell Is for Children', Bryan Adams' 'Children of the Night', Suzanne Vega's 'My Name Is Luka', and a ton of others. Heart-wrenching songs that hit the soul, but you can enjoy them even if you've never been in that situation.

    I love hell is for children, and the crazy thing is that so many people back then thought she was saying that children should be in hell or something like that. Talk about completely misunderstanding/or judging a song without listening. But it’s such a hauntingly beautiful song. So sad.

  • @rowaineboyd1536

    @rowaineboyd1536

    Very sad, but so very accurate. The high school I went to was pretty upper class (re: snotty), but us kids didn't have to explain the lyrics to anyone over 20. That should say way too much about the subject matter. Not that there isn't child abuse (sexual or otherwise) in current culture, but more is actively *done* about it now.

    This song was powerful and painful for me when it came out. It was the 80s when I finally told my story of the abuses of my father to my 7th grade teacher. At the time, I had so much anger in my heart. Glad I didn't have access to a gun then. But man this song always shot right through me.

    If I'm not mistaken, I think that Steven Tyler spent some time in rehab and met a young lady at one of the group sessions who broke everyone's heart with her heart-wrenching story of the abuse she was subjected to at the hands of her father, He wrote this song to pay homage to her and to keep giving voice to victims out there.

    On the subject matter, no one wants to hear about it because it's so monstrous. But it needs to be talked about and needs much stronger laws and sentences. The perpetrators are usually family members, friends of the family, authority figures, clergy and people who see the same children on a regular basis. They want the trust of the family and the child's trust so the abuse can continue. A parent or guardian never wants to believe that their child had to endure abuse or that a trusted adult would do such a thing. It's easier to disbelieve than to confront the fact. Also, young children might not know the words to describe what happened and fear they may be blamed. In some cases, a survivor might k!ll an abuser when they are older and more capable of defending themselves. This would probably not be considered self-defense in court because it is after the fact. Even though they're lives have been ruined. Most cases are never reported.

    Sadly this happened to my daughter's friend. She was very little when it started. My daughter and a few others had to be taken to a special place so pictures could be taken by women police officers and be compared to what all they found on this piece of 💩's computer and his camera. They were around 13 when she got tired of it and said something and got the ball rolling. It put the pieces together when my daughter would spend the night over there and 3am they were both at the door (they were maybe 7 at this time). My daughter wasn't involved but a few of the other girls were. After we all went to court and he was sentenced to life (that's how much they caught him with) the mom divorced her husband and kicked her little girl out of her life. Yep - 13 almost 14 but it was her fault her marriage ended!!! Hope her mom is living a 💩ty life just like her lowlife husband. The daughter is now married but doesn't have any kids. She's probably messed up if you know what i mean. Girls are in their 30s now and i still tell them how much i love them - because i do ♥️
