She has such incredible range. The arrangements of songs with Frida in the lead tended to use her lower register, but when she sings with Agnetha in choruses together or as backup to a song sung by Agnetha, it’s mind blowing how high she sings. You can really hear her upper register and head voice in her solo work, and when you look at her body of work, it’s astounding how wide her range is. Not to mention the power she has, and her near flawless pitch. Agnetha was the gifted storyteller, but Frida was the vocal technician par excellence

"The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of them all, but it is the most difficult to play" - Richard Strauss Frida knows how to play her instrument. - keen ear - control - full round - warm timbre - huge range (alto, mezzo, soprano) - diaphragmatic breathing ABBA's recording engineer, Michael B. Tretow gave Frida the biggest compliment a vocalist can get. In an interview, which some you have seen on KZread -- Michael describes Frida's beautiful warm timbre, balance, support, etc... He said her voice is "hi-fi" (high fidelity). She has always been praised by peers since she was in grade school for her ear and vocal skills. Early credit goes to Frida's grandmother, who raised Frida until Frida went out on her own at age 13 -- when she turned pro. Her grandmother sang Norwegian and Swedish folk songs to baby/toddler/child Frida. Frida's brain did the wiring with al those pitches she heard at a very very young age. Result, is perfect pitch.

@@graphiquejack "near flawless pitch"? Listen to her peers. They all talk about her keen ear. She has got perfect pitch. Her reputation regarding her keen ear started in grade school. ABBA: Bright Lights Dark Shadows The Real Story of ABBA By Carl Magnus Palm Benny, Bjorn and Michael Tretow ABBA's recording engineer considered Frida a master vocalist as do her peers. What her peers say about her ear, diaphragmatic breathing, control, timbre is golden. She is highly respected.

I love both ABBA girls but I have always thought Frida was an exceptional vocal talent. And an awesome live performer. Agnetha fits the standard upper chest pop singer. Frida fits in the classically trained vocalist category. Her keen ear, control, diaphragmatic breathing is impressive.

@@danbike9 Her voice is truly wonderful for sure ( as is Agnetha's flawless soprano ), but I'm pretty certain that neither Frida or the millions upon millions of ABBA fans around the world believe she should have stuck to non-pop music .. • @danbike9

@@wayne_twentyfive Don't get me wrong. She indeed is part of a historical group. My reply was a bit selfish in wanting to her to stay solo, without a pop band, wall-of-sound, etc... as she knows how to craft a song using her melodic voice and control. Frida herself was very reluctant to join a pop group for the very reason that it was a comedown for her skill level. She actually left the foursome after the cabaret shows winter of 1970/71. 1971 into 1972 is the year that Frida was gone. By mid 1971 BB were hired by Stig to be Polar Music house producers. Agentha came along with Bjorn, who were married summer of 1971. Stig had his team together to include the very important Gorel (admin) and Michael B Tretow along with Rutger Gunnerson. By mid 1971, Stig had his team. Except Frida. Frida was a sort of free agent. EMI Sweden wanted her to extend her 1967-1972 solo contract as EMI had big plans for Frida. So did Stig, but he had to get her under Polar Music as a solo artist. Stig may have been the boss/Polar Music, but Frida had the pull. She understood the business and knew her value to EMI Sweden and to Stig/Polar Music. It took a Frida-Stig/Polar Music sweet deal/partnership in 1972 to get her to join the group and also sign a Polar Music solo contract. The solo portion? The Frida Ensam' (Frida Alone) project. A win win win for Stig/Polar Music and Frida and the foursome. Stig had his golden girl (Lena Andersson being the other golden girl solo artist). Frida Ensam' project was to be completed in early years of ABBA. It was. Recorded 1974/75 and released in 1975. A huge critical and commercial success. Multiple platinum. Spawning 'Fernando', Frida huge #1 Swedish radio hit. During this period the group, which Stig named ABBA started to take off, with 'Waterloo'/Eurovision and in their pockets they had SOS and Mama Mia waiting to be launched in 1975. Boom! Over the decades a few in the music press have asked Frida...Why pop group, why not solo, etc....? Frida said that she figured that together they, the foursome, could do something special. It all worked out perfectly for the core four, Stig, Gorel, Michael, Rutger and all the ABBA/Polar Music musicians. They all made history together. _____ ABBA: Bright Lights Dark Shadows The Real Story of ABBA By Carl Magnus Palm

Benny clarified that the reason why it wasn't officially released is because the verse melody is the same as "When the Waves Roll Out to Sea". There's a version that removes it and adds a saxophone solo, but even that one has a similar part with Under Attack. So the main chorus is the only that would remain original. I think that one song that they should have released is Another You, Another Me. which was only recorded by Gemini

This is an awesome song. I kinda liked back then but it definitely grew on me over the decades. It’s a small underrated masterpiece. The verses are sung incredibly loose with a touch of jazz sexiness and a touch of satisfaction about what’s happening to the „king“. Frida at her best. A wicked combination that made these vocals unique. The chords of the chorus are a bit more adventurous and edgy than usual. Abba was diving into new sounds along with Lovers (live a little longer) on that 1979 album they unfortunately never took on again but returning to straight pop in 1980. That’s why Voulez Vous is my second favorite album after 1977s The Album.

hello Marisa and Tyker Good start of the new week for you "The King has lost His crown" (1979) Is included in the "Voulez Vous" album it's a great song (7/8pts) with Frida so sweet in leads voice in the introduction verses, that change the rythm when Agnetha join her and do a fantástic duet again I think that Frida is more seductive in her solo while the music begins as a ballad disco, and then the two female voices in the chorus are much powerful And the musical introduction is amazing! ABBA premier these song un a TV special "ABBA in Switzerland 1979' It was the second song , after "Take a chance on me" and all four ABBA members introduction here is a link with ABBA performed it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZiTvM16mbndqqw.html One date: in the leave streaming of September 2021, when Benny & Björn announced the return of ABBA with Voyage album, the same Björn refers to " The King has lost His crown" of one of ABBA songs that should be a hit, but it wasn''t I love your reaction, your faces Always Is a pleasure see enjoy with ABBA músic I see in the next vídeo My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

Screw the people that don't want you to pause. I can listen to this song uninterrupted any time I want. I'm here to see and hear your genuine reactions, not watch you bop your head for 4 minutes. What is wrong with people? You shouldn't have to fight and hold back your feelings. Bugger off wankers. Don't try to tame Tyler.

I have to agree, Tyler pausing the song during a reaction video is not only completely within his rights as a content creator, but it's also a smart move. By pausing the song, he can provide insightful commentary and analysis on specific parts of the track, which makes for a more interesting and engaging video. It's not like he's stopping the song every two seconds to check his phone or grab a snack. He's doing it for a purpose. "DON"T TAME the TYLER"! Whose with me!!

Frida solo works. Find her stuff from early 60's and beyond. You will have a better appreciation and understanding of her skill level. You like me may think Frida singing pop songs for ABBA is beneath her talent level.
