There is a reason why SNSD is mooted as the greatest girl group to ever appear in the history kpop because their ability to come up with bangers again and again even after all these years is uncannily consistent. Their diversity across just their title tracks alone is astounding. Kpop is really lucky to have SNSD to be pushing vocal delivery and music experimentation boundaries,It's sad that new Kpop fans and reactors won't really be able to comprehend the impact and just how HUGE like Girls Generation have been over the last decade.

That was how huge Girls Generation were. In their prime, Girls Generation was truly on top of every group, including boygroups.

SNSD is the one and only Nation's Girl Group. A brilliant combination of Vocals, dance, and visuals. Also, way before BP and BTS, this group has beaten Miley, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Psy, and many more in the YT MV award for their MV I Got A Boy. They ranked 16th in Billboard's most awarded artists of all time basically topping other GG around the world. Their COncerts are on top of the most attended concerts of GGs of all time. They are the idol of idols and legendary icons. They have been in the industry for 15 years. originally 9 members but Jessica left in 2014. Mow, 3 of the 8 members left SM but are still a part of SNSD. Currently, they are focusing on their solo careers but that doesn't mean they disbanded. It's clear that they loved Sones(fandom name) so much and they promised to never break that. TAEYEON is so successful with her solo career. She has a recent solo INVU which topped Korean Media sites and in other countries as well. She has won daesangs and Is hailed as OST Queen. JESSICA has her own business which is also very successful and has been writing books about her Kpop experiences. SUNNY is a radio host and MC in many shows. TIFFANY is also pursuing her career both in America and in Korea and as you know, she was one of the Judges in Girl's Planet. HYOYEON is a DJ with the stage name DJ Hyo and she has also released many solos which are all so BOP! YURI is an awarded Actress in Korea. Her series Bossam is so highly ranked and she was highly praised for her acting proving that idols turning into actresses is actually possible. currently a judge too in My Teenage which is also a survival group. She is also a big-time model. SOOYOUNG is another big actress in Korea and she has recently had her mini virtual concert where tickets were sold in just a minute. She's also a model and host. YOONA is another actress and I'm telling you, she is one of the biggest actresses out there thanks to her outstanding visuals and awesome acting talent. She is the nation's center and big-time model and ambassador. SEOHYUN is as always the pride not just of SNSD but SK as a whole when she represented and sang North Korean songs during the South K's peace concert for North Korea. She is also one hella successful Actress and model ambassador. Individually, they are powerful and as a group, men, they can strike K-pop. Once a legend, always a legend.

The South Korean idol industry has always been oriented towards boy groups. But during SNSD's "Gee" and "Genie", boy groups were defeated and vice versa, people were attracted to SNSD. During that time, ALL IDOLS CANNOT WIN AGAINST SNSD. They are more than iconic. They are the nation girl group and kpop legendary girl group who beat everyone both boy and girl group and stayed on top for years still up to now. Twice, Blackpink, and Red Velvet may be top female idols now, but they can't win against EXO or BTS. But during SNSD's golden year, SNSD HAD DESTROYED ALL IDOL MEN like Super Junior, Big Bang, TVXQ, 2PM. Only SNSD girl groups can win Album of the Year at the Golden Disk Award. Their debut song 'Into the new world' has been used during civil rights, women’s rights and during any kind of protest in South Korea! This is also become an LGBT anthem and is played at Seoul Pride.

Girls' Generation I would have a lot to say about them and in the end I would fall short in words, I would describe them as a unique and legendary group with no replacement. I know that there are very talented new groups, but what Girls' Generation did in their time will never be repeated. Undisputed queens of Kpop. I subscribed because of Taeyeon and now you react to Girls Generation I’m like wowww 🤩😍 They are the LEGENDS of kpop; the blueprint of girlgroup idols; every new generation kpop looks up to them; their level is up there; esp Taeyeon who is highly regarded in the music industry, it is 15years of blood sweat tears to get where she is today, to get where they are today, That’s why GG is the epitome of girlgroup, the passion, dedication and hardwork they have put into translates into the LEGACY they have left behind for the newer generations. More GG/Taeyeon please! As how Taeyeon’s music is so diverse, same as Girls Generation! Girls' Generation GEE is the reason why colorful skinny jeans were a huge thing in South Korea. Snsd's Gee is also the first ever kpop MV to hit 100 million views (the reason why MV views really matter now is because they want to break the record). Girls' Generation IGAB is the first kpop music video to ever win the first ever youtube award (against lady gaga, justin bieber, adelle, etc.) Girls' Generation made and break so many records that I can't mention it all. Actually, kpop is not that big in music scene tbh, year 2008 South Korea faces a big economy crisis but then year 2009 Girls' Generation released GEE and it hit big time in the music scene. Because of that kpop is slowly gaining recognition all over the world, and also because of that South Korea's economy rised and the South Korean government and people decided to give the title "Nations Girl Group" to Girls' Generation. Idk why many newbie kpop fans are saying that 875 paved the way for kpop when SNSD literally debuted and conquer the world way back 2009 and paved the way for all (they debuted in 2007).

SNSD as know as the National Girl Group of South Korea. Their being a role model and inspired so many kpop girl group, they say if the reason why they become a kpop idol because of SNSD. The Greatest Girl Group of all Time

It’s hard to fathom just how iconic GG was in their time. Nobody, male or female,could compete with them. Their posters and product endorsements were on every corner and on buses. They were consistently on variety shows as well. I found them in 2011. My I-pod has over 100 different songs. Nobody put out the volume of music they did. They really were a part of every Kpop fans life.

Fun facts: -Girls’ Generation is kind of the girls version of Super Junior of SMent. -Girls’ Generation before they became famous like Super Junior, they were introduced by their senior group Super Junior in their MVs, just like how Girls’ Generation introduced SHINee in their MVs even before they debut, SHINee introduce F(x), but since F(x) is really not a important much of SMEnt (as we all can see), EXO was introduced by Girls’ Generation as well, i don’t know if they continue it with the rest of their groups, but that’s how we learned their upcoming groups to debut from the past. -Girls’ Generation is the first one we have seen doing the remix, just like what Aespa did in Next Level and NMIXX O.O -Super Junior along side with Girls’ Generation paved the way of KPOP, like hallyu wave, like literary as an experimental group, SMent tried to make Super Junior and GG, go out of the country to promote KPOP outside South Korea and thanks to them KPOP became big hit. Like maybe TVXQ, BOA, Bigbang, 2ne1, Wonder girls go out to promote their music, but Super Junior really enhances and introduces hallyu wave to the whole world. -but, sadly? Girls Generation (SNSD) brought me to K-POP, SNSD was the first K-POP group I watched. It was Girls' Generations first tour 10 years ago ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5V40KOeYtDIqJc.html ) in Japan. The video takes more than 2 hours. I didn't knew K-POP till that moment. I really was flashed, I was hooked and I became a Girls Generation fan right away. The first year I only had eyes and ears for SNSD, but the following years I discovered more and more of the K-POP world. For me K-POP is the best POP today.

You should watch their most emotional performance ever. That was the Into the new world ballad version in tokyo dome. That was the time when Jessica left the group a day before their concert. Tokyo dome was their dream arena but unfortunately they performed as 8 members only.☹️ You will see how taeyeon as a leader held on to her emotion and sang beautifully even though they were all emotional. Watch their variety shows too. These are a bunch of funny gals.🥰

oh yessss ❤ giirrrrrllll, I swear you will LOOOVE GG's mv and song calls "You think" these are the reasons: - sexy as hell concept - might one of the best and interesting choreography of them - song is very vocally like its focused to show their crazy crazy vocals - also parts with rap (they usually not doing rap so it's very rare thing) - lyrics are also amazing but in the MV no lyrics but if you'd react to lyrics as well it would be cool) - ok it's just my fav mv and song of them but shortly its perfect and very underrated (it came out just as a pre release for their main title song in their comeback with "Lion heart" 😢so they focused more on other song and not on this one) I'm sure you will love it !

Gee and IGAB are indeed "iconic", but SNSD themselves are most appropriately described as "Legendary" ( a term applied to them by the Korean media since around 2013, I think) for reasons that the following should go some way to explain: From 1997 to 2007, 14 girl groups, from 3 to 5 members each, debuted of which about half didn't survive longer than two years, and only 3 ( i think) made it to 5 years. Of these the most successful were S.E.S of SM, and DSP's Fin.K.L. The third group, Baby Vox, very notably began as a 4 member group and finished their 8 year run with 5 completely different members (!!), so when SM let it be known they were planning a 9 member girl-group (actually originally 11 members) as a "female Super Junior". many K-Pop fans ( and a few industry 'insiders') that SM were "crazy", that "they won't even last two years". and that "no-one is going to remember the names of NINE girls!" ( these are real quotes ). Despite such negativity, SNSD's debut song, "into The New World" was initially quite well received, selling almost 11,000 physical copies in its first month (5th on that month's charts) though at the year's end 4 months later, it ranked #41 with just under 23,000 copies. However, in 2016, at Ewha Women's University in Seoul, students protesting against the University's corrupt admission and degree qualifications in favor of academically unqualified but politically-connected students and policies, were recorded by the media facing-off against a 1,600-strong Police force, when they sang 'ITNW' to express their resolve to be heard and satisfied, despite powerful opposition ( read the lyrics ). It was sung during the "Pink Pussy" women's protests in the US against Trump; it was sung in public when the Korean Court decriminalized abortion in 2019, and it was sung in Thailand in 2020 during government corruption protests. If anyone can find another K-pop group's debut song being adopted as an international anthem against social and political injustice....let me know. (In a panel of 35 music critics and professionals organized by newspaper Seoul Shinmun and online portal Melon, "Into the New World" was ranked the 6th best K-pop song of all time ~ Wikipedia). 'ITNW' was followed-up with 'Girl's Generation' ( their remake of the popular 1989 song written/performed by Lee Seoung-Chul) in late 2007, and then in 2008, 'Baby Baby', and 'Kissing You' ...which became their most popular song, at the time. But despite their improving chart successes, in the summer of 2008, SNSD became 'The Most Hated' group in K-Pop history. Performing at the 2008 'Dream Concert', SNSD were subjected to what became known as "The Black Ocean", when the 50,000 fans of EVERY other group performing at the venue shut-off their light sticks as an organized 'boycott' and either stayed silent or else 'heckled' SNSD. It was a response beyond mere 'fan-club rivalry'. It seems the Korean media had taken quite a shine to SNSD looks and personalities, which got the notice of major companies who began to cast them for national advertising campaigns instead of using more established and more 'deserving' idols. In addition, various established male idol groups, when asked by the media, expressed how personally appealing they found the rookie group's members, which apparently created jealousy in their female fans' fantasies about their idols, a particular example being SNSD's appearance in a phone commercial with TVXQ/DBSK where the boy group members and SNSD acted as though they were dating, or trying to date, which resulted in some fans publicly calling SNSD "sluts". SNSD were also vilified in K-fan forums for being 'disrespectful' to their male idol seniors ( being 'too friendly' and acting as equals, or what we would call in the West, "acting normally" ). Not only were SNSD subjected to this unprecedented public 'boycott', the couple of hundred SNSD fans in the audience were accused by others of assault and even rape (!) during the event...all of which was utter bullshit, as the Korean media quickly found out. ( For example, one news team found that a young male fan who claimed on-camera at the time that he'd had his arm broken by SNSD fans had, in fact, broken his arm falling off his bike, two weeks earlier!). So...SNSD did NOT have as glorious a start to their career as many people now might think. But just 7 months later, in January of 2009, SNSD returned, and again in unprecedented 'style', with a song that wasn't actually supposed to be their comeback song. What they were supposed to release as their comeback single was 'Dancing Queen' which had original lyrics but used the music of Duffy's "Mercy". The song was recorded, the choreography perfected and the MV was made, but then there arose a dispute over the rights, so Dancing Queen was shelved and SM decided to issue a 'B-Side' in its place. That song was 'Gee' ( which Taeyeon, we would learn a couple of years later, HATED, at the time...which reminds me...ALL of the girls also HATED being given the group name 'Girls' Generation' , at first ). 'Gee' wasn't just "a hit". it was a phenomenon. Though not specifically verifiable, it is likely that the MV created the "Mannequin Challenge" fad. It sold colored "skinny jeans" worldwide. It was #1 on KBS' 'Music Bank' for 9 consecutive weeks~~a new record number of wins for ANY K-Pop artist ( group OR solo ) and 8 consecutive wins on the Mnet charts. It was the first K-Pop Girl Group video to reach 100 Million KZread views ( currently at 291 million views). It has won a ridiculous number of major Korean awards and is on a ridiculous number of international music-industry lists of "greatest" pop songs, and it was a decent hit in Japan ( which was significant, for reasons I won't explain now). AND...an under-appreciated aspect of SNSD and 'Gee'...they measurably helped Korea recover from the 2009 financial crisis ( accounting for 6% of national economic growth from 2009 to 2010 !!). From then on, SNSD never failed to have a hit, and continued to break and set various records for 'the fastest', or 'the most', or being 'the first' to reach some kind of milestone or receive some award or recognition. By 2011 their songs and choreography had become a curriculum for ALL new girl-groups, regardless of agency. They outsold and won more industry awards and #1's than ANY other Korean group, female or male, not just in Korea, but throughout Asia and in the West. TTS/TaeTi Seo.( Taeyeon,Tiffany and Seohyun ) were (and still are) the most commercially successful and most-awarded K-Pop sub-unit to-date. In 2013 SNSD returned to perform at the Dream Concert as the final act, and once again they had an unprecedented impact. Instead of the 'Black Ocean' they'd experienced 5 years before, the entire stadium of 55,000 K-Pop fans united, not just in approval of them, but sang in deafening unison ( and with perfect timing) the entire lyrics of "The Boys" and "I Got A Boy". so loudly that girls were almost completely drowned-out and the audio of the official video release of the event was re-mastered. There's a lot more to their story, but this is long enough. SNSD aren't 'just' a great group, they are THE cultural icons of South Korea, and of K-pop. Despite the charms, talents,and impressive successes of 3rd and 4th Generation groups, Girls' Generation are still truly "The Nation's Girl Group", "The Idols' Idols" and quite simply and unassailably, "The Legendary SNSD". Two phrases to remember: 1) "As expected, they're Girls' Generation!" 2) "If you don't know Girls Generation, you don't know K-Pop"

They're still Girls' Generation a year after a few members had left the label SM Entertainment which were in 2018 they created new subunit called Girls' Generation OH!GG and release a brand new hit single "Lil Touch!" #GG4EVA #SOSHI4EVA #SONE
