not only "it takes two" by rob base & dj ez rock but also "alright" by janet jackson comes from this song
This song been sampled so many times.
This was my jam! You couldn’t help but get up and dance.
It's an incredible tune - written by James Brown and played by the JB's. Outstanding vocal performance by Lyn!. Check out some more James Brown! The Payback, Talking Loud, Saying Nothing, Papa Don't Take No Mess, Soul Power, can't go wrong!

@@kimberly8858 yeah it makes more sense lol, love the beat in this though, there's a whole genre built on this beat along with the winstons amen brother beat which was just before this I think, 1969...
Back in 1988 we used to go to our local club were the DJ would play Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock "It Takes 2" followed by this original, and he would do that all night (play the hip hop track followed by their original track it was sampled from). I rushed out and bought all that stuff and still have it all on great sounding vinyl. In the mid to late 60s James Brown's manager at the time (I believe it was Christopher White) said that when JB was first doing funk stuff that it was all to strange for mass pop appeal. Alot of the JB singers like Lyn Collins, Marva Whitney, Bobby Byrd, Vicki Anderson not to mention the classic rock & roll singer Hank Ballard all recorded outstanding funk tracks like this, and so many are samples in the hip hop culture from the 80s onwards. This was my kind of music growing up and I was born 20 years to late when this stuff was a whole new type of music. It still sounds fresh to my ear so please do more James Brown's Funky People stuff Asia and BJ. Your just scratching the surface of the amount of underground stuff that was done in the late 60s and early 70s. Peace.
Actually this ENTIRE song has been sampled, repeatedly lol
These beats are still getting sampled hard in the UK and have been since the early 90s in jungle and dnb music...
You can clearly hear James Brown in the background of this funky groove.

And her brother, Bootsy Collins, was playing bass.😮
I love this track so much. That hook!
If you were listening to 80’s/90’s Hip-Hop, chances are you were also hooked by the James Brown sound & his family: Lyn Collins, Marva Whitney, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Bobby Byrd, Vicki Anderson etc… May I suggest- i believe in miracles by the Jackson Sisters, another JB club banger
Asia was thinking about Aretha Franklin "Think" from the film "The Blues Brothers".

Aretha make Think 1968, but made a new (faster) version for The Blues Brother movie.
Yes it is the song it originally came from ❤️
yes its the original sample .... this was also sampled by a female mc named roxanne shante called ''go on girl '' and tons of other groups in the 80s and 90s
I. Love. This. Song! Best groove ever!
Well spotted BJ - this song was the foundation stone for many 80's heavy hip hop bangers samples 🎶😎🙌👍
This song has been sampled over 3,000 times. Everybody from Kanye West Janet Jackson Fergie Nicki Minaj Jay Z EPMD has used bits and pieces of this song in their records
I love hearing James Brown hollering in background 😂 "Shes back bad! Shes bad aint she?" ....first heard this on XM older soul jams last yr, instantly heard that at 1:22 and had same reaction...but i had put on my Playlist
Lyn Collins also sang backup on "Big Payback" and "My Thang" by James Brown. Also that "Hey! Ow!" was Mr. Brown
Yes, this song was sampled in a lot of hip hop songs. Starting with the "use what you got to get what you want", but all the way through, this song is in so many hip hop songs.
YES!!! Y'all have bought out a great original!!! I see you BJ, this is Original!!! James Brown on this. Excellent request.
This has been sampled so many times.....oh and if you don't want to move when this track comes on you are officially dead 🤣
Never heard this...love it!
Asia & BJ, love this song, never heard it before! I see she worked with James Brown, so you know she's funky and a badass!!
This song was sampled thousands of times. House songs sampled the little break part but sped up. 80s rap songs too. Not just Rob Base
James Brown's Funky People Vol. I-IV 💯❤
Yo, if you don’t move to this song something’s wrong. I heard pieces of this sampled at least 3 times to my memory. I heard it was sampled many many times and I don’t doubt it. This song……aw man is all I can formulate in words.
I was in 8th grade when this came out. It was on my K-Tel album “Super Bad is back.”
Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock made a song from that verse

One of my favourite tunes
I highly recommend the In Yo’ Face - The History of Funk collection (6 CDs - you can get them on Amazon). That’s how I discovered where that sample came from.
now everybody make your moves on the dance flooooor 💖💖💖
Also Janet Jackson sampled this song for her hit ''Alright''.
1st female voice mixed by the dj in hiphop out the gate...I was in the fever 1 nite in the Bronx and James brown beats and Lyn Collins was a large part of the nite
James Brown and the J.B.'s greatest Funk band!!!
she was produced by James Brown btw
The song think you were talking about was by Arthur Franklyn
WRITEN , PRODUCE AND BACKGROUND, BY JAMES BROWN
Yep that's where it all came from. Hip Hop was built on young brotha's going through their parents record collection and using ALL JAMES BROWN joints. Then the West Coast came in using Parliament Funkadelic and Zapp songs.
I am almost EMBARRASSED to admit this………BUT a truly close friend at the time (who was Caucasian) turned me on to this tasty hit. Recently rediscovered it in my archives and have been sharing it with my German friends (where I live). Nasty, infectious groove that has the ladies “telling it like it is”. F******* Fierce
Oh yeah, this was the jam back in the day!🔥 James Brown wrote and produced it for Lynn. And that's James along with his band, The JB's backing her up. Great reaction guys! There's another group from the 70's you need to check out, The Johnson Brothers. Suggested songs are...Get the Funk out of My Face, I'll Be Good to You, Ain't We Funkin' Now, and Stomp. They really lay down the Funk🎵🎶🎸🔥🔥
