First Time Eating SUNDANESE Food in Bandung 🇮🇩
Today I take you with me and share with you what I had to eat in Bandung on this particular day. I start the video off actually at dinnertime with a couple new friends I met the day before. They took me to a Sundanese restaurant to try some grilled fish, oncom rice, karedok, and other Sundanese dishes. After dinner, they drove me around Bandung and showed me a bunch of the beautiful Dutch colonial buildings and some of the busier places in Bandung. We then stopped at Sudirman Street for some pork satay and a delicious Chinese ginger dessert. I then cut to the beginning of the day when I went out and had lunch around my hotel. I found a pretty good fried beef rice bowl place and also some fried chicken. Then I found the jelly coconut drink again and met some of the locals. Nothing but food in this one, hope you enjoy it. More videos from Bandung to come...

9 years living in USA not once people ever show me some place , let alone treat me for some dinner, it makes me so proud of the generosity of Indonesian people, even most who lives on the breadline still offer to share some bites to eat.
Suka sih ngeliat mereka biasa aja ke bule dalam artian gk yg norak minta foto dll, gk kyk jaman dulu dikit dikit minta foto, nyamain mereka kek pembeli biasa aja harganya jg gk di mahal mahalin, mantap 👍🏻
Nick, that dessert is called 'Ronde Jahe' and the one ur having is my family owned business .. im so glad u liked it! 😃👌 Terima Kasih banyak Nick!!

It's bandrek isn't it? Or is it the same but different language? We called it bandrek the ginger drinks with grated coconut and all I can think about ronde jahe is that drink that has colorful sticky rice cake balls in it.
Congratulations finding Cincau Hijau. Regular Black Grass Jelly can be found all over the world as long as there's Chinese people, but Green Grass Jelly is uniquely Indonesian and you won't find this exported anywhere else.
Your hair and beard look really great Nick. Worth going to the best hair stylist in town! In my opinion, the best look you have so far!

My wife and I have traveled around West Java. On and off for several years. So many great memories your videos are bringing back. She’s been home sick for Bogor for 2 year’s now stuck in Australia. We are enjoying watching your videos, looking forward to August when we finally get back to Bogor and introduce our daughter to the family. It’s an amazing country.
6:45 Thank you for friends, Nick's fans in Bandung, who have invited you to take a walk and eat dinner in Bandung. I am very happy. Usually I like to invite tourists when I'm in the city of Bandung. If Nick still has time in Bandung, he can go to several places such as Tangkuban Perahu and Sariater. hot spring water. I hope Nick is comfortable and happy on vacation in Bandung

Hi Nick, you should visit SAUNG ANGKLUNG UDJO. Best place to learn sundanese traditional music, art and culture (highly recommend for you). Normally they open everyday and has live performance at 3.30 PM to 5.30 PM. But now i don't know the update since the last covid from 2 years ago.

10:20 This is a traditional drink in Bandung. because at that time in Bandung it was very cold, so drinks were made so that the body felt warmer and fresher, if you had a cold or your body was not healthy. it would be better if you drink this.
I think you mixed up between es cendol (the drink you had in the first Bandung video) and es cincau (the drink you had in this video). Cendol is made from rice flour and coloured with pandan leaves, served with ice, coconut milk, and liquid brown sugar (gula aren). In Central and East Java, the drink mostly called "dawet". Meanwhile cincau is grass jelly (just Wiki it), kind of chinese herbal drink, served with ice, liquid sugar or syrup, and sometimes coconut milk. There are black and green variants of cincau. It is believed to have a soothing effect for your body. Both are very popular not only in Indonesia, but in Malaysia and Singapore too.

Oh ini yg di video ya
Cincau is made from grass jelly family leaves, you mash the leaves and it produced some slimey liquid and it's hardened in the process. It's good for summer, especially to cool down the hot temperature hot flushes in the body caused by too much oily greasy foods.

Shout out to the lovely couple who took Nick around...It is a living testimony about how nice Indonesian in general...But I feel like they are not as engaging as other local people that Nick interact in the street .Don't get me wrong I am sure they are nice couple and probably talking to Nick a lot behind the scenes..but if I have a chance to meet Nick and got an opportunity to show him around..I probably will be so excited and try to explain everything non stop ....hahahaha....but they are super nice and I am so jealous that they can meet Nick in person✌️✌️🤩....Great footage as always..can not wait to see your next video in Lembang !!!!🤗
if you are still afraid people ask where you live means you're not aware that you're in Indonesia. It's only trying to be friendly and also only formality so don't worry about it
Great video as always. Thank you for the tour, Nick. Blessings to you 🙏🎉

Indonesian people like to ask where do you live, but its not like they really want to know, its just the culture of small talk here.
cheese and rice!!! these video makes me super jealous 😩 I'm sooo going there when I go back home! my mom is mix Sundanese and menado, and she's such a great cook! Sundanese is my fav food in the world, I cook my fav Indonesian food all the time eventho I live in America lol, but of course I also cook Italian food , American food, Jamaican food, puertorican food, even steak tacos!! but my Sundanese food is my #1for sure! specially KAREDOK 😘 thanks for another awesome video! and I loooove your hair! peace.
Bandung is a wonderful and beautiful city, enjoy and have a great time Nick. North part of the city is beautiful and cool.
Bro i love your vlog, because you literally buy random food and product. Not scripted or sponsored.
U got so nice articulation, love to watch your videos Nick. Please come to Bumijawa, Tegal.
In Bogor, the green drink, it was called "Cendol", in Bandung, it was called "Cincau". Both are different. Cendol Made by Tapioca flour, Cincau Made by Cincau leaves (cyclea Barbata) , common popular as leaf jelly or herb jelly so Cincau is leaf jelly from Cyclea Barbata leaf. 🙏 Edit: but both are serving in same way. Coconut milk mixed palm sugar/aren (Nira sugar).

I think Mr. Rendi and his wife were pretty generous, they took you to a good restaurant and a proper food court. Bless you guys. If you want a proper Japanese dinner in Indonesia, you should go to a bigger restaurant. IDK what's the name of the restaurant in Bandung, probably Sushi Tei (?). Es cincau is a bit different from es cendol, although some vendors outside Bandung may mix them in a glass. The cendol is made by mixing rice flour with pandan leaf extract, with some water, and moulding it into tiny worms. The cincau is made by smashing the leaves, mixing with some water, straining or kneading the leaves in the water until the leaves extract comes out, pour the mixture into some sieves/colander to purify the juice, and then let it sit until the juice becomes gelatin-like/pudding-like. The natural ingredients in the cincau pudding have the benefit to help the body combat some inflamation, so it's not just tasty but also healthy. Finally, it's great that you tackled the question of where you live by explaining that you don't like people who want the details of your place. Indonesian people have this habit of asking where people live and usually, they will be satisfied with your answer on the area where you live, not the exact address (Such as, "Where do you live in Bandung?" "Oh I live in Kiaracondong." that will do). But anyway, you're pretty cool, Nick. Take care
i used to go to school around there, and the es cingcau was my favorite back then, its good for health it made from cincau leaves coconut milk and syrup.. aah you make me wanna go there and enjoy a glass of it.. btw take care of your self nick and enjoy indonesia..
I hope we can meet, it's very nice. thanks Nick for the trip. Happy good day ❤

Actually when mostly our people ask you about your place (where's you stay/living?) It's just as a friendly speaking or chit chat to show the familiarity. Yet when you feel that is annoying or make you insecure that's is the way we (as a human) to prevent the bad things probably can be happened. It's very normal lol more over for you as a foreigner. Keep it up to explore our beautiful country, Nick! 👊👍

Hei Nick, since it's Ramadan, have you hunting for tajil (food for iftar/break fasting). I'm not from Bandung, so I can't recommend places, but usually in every city there's a place where you can get tajil. It's usually sold on the street, but only happen during Ramadan, usually start around 3pm-6pm. Many of the food offered are only available during Ramadan, and can be really difficult to find outside Ramadan. Some iconic tajil are kolak, biji salak, bihun+lontong+bakwan combo. You should also try timun suri. It's a fruit that people only grow during Ramadan, I don't know why. Usually eaten as part of es buah. If you can get to those places it'll be great vlog and something that can be experienced once a year.

Nick, if you noticed the architect for that church is also the same one that designed Gedung Merdeka. In fact, he designed a lot of the historic buildings in Bandung & influential in the art Deco architectural movement in Bandung & what made it known as Paris van Djava
