I see The Audacity, and I petition your suggestion as well. I shall also raise you Reverie and Memento Mori.
1:59 best part, quite insane he played that in the fly
The best feeling as a drummer is being in sync with another drummer without even knowing the song. The connection you feel and the mutual respect is just unexplainable it’s like a musical bromance 😂
This is the drumset equivalent of trying to sing along to a song for the first time and the lyrics and melody keep not being what you’re expecting
I'd be down to watch Jerod play this song over and over and watch the improvement as he gets more familiar with it. Incredible drummer

Dude that’s exactly what I was hoping this would be
You can tell that Jerod knows what he is doing when you can see the drum section in the youtube video, and they are both in sync on what they are playing
and this is why i love it when covers are allowed on other platforms, i wouldnt have known about polyphia, but god knowns they are now on my Spotify playlist.

I feel this. Stumbled upon them last summer and they have been like crack for my ears ever since
Polyphia songs feel otherworldly.
This sounds completely different with your drums and I absolutely love the new vibe that it brings.
Your drumline is actually spot on. Now I'm curious to hear the song with it instead of the original one.
this is the most serious ive ever seen Jerod
he definitely cranked it up a notch for this one 👀
He acclimated to the song so fast it’s unbelievable! 1:30 “Ohhh man, this is so good.” Then plays an insane beat after.
This must be insanely hard to fly off the cuff like this
I love how he starts off pretty simple and then kinda get encouraged to play more complicated drum line
Yes finally Polyphia! I love their music. Tim and Scott are the reason why i relearned playing the guitar. I may never reach their level but they're definitely such inspirations.
The moment when he realized that going nuts is and absolute option for Polyphia drumming XD
本家がこういうアレンジ出しましたって言っても信じるくらいに上手い
For an improv/first listen, you absolutely crushed it! Awesome job!

I just introduced someone to Playing God and also Polyphia in general and they listened to it like 3 times in a row. Such talent. You absolutely killed it too!
It’s fun to see such a different and unfamiliar genre throw Jerod’s incredible improv off for once. By which I mean it took him about 90 seconds to adapt instead of 2.
i hope he actually hasnt heard it before, cause him picking up on the fill at 2:17 was amazing

his reaction definitely felt like it was because he didn't know it. I feel like I would react a similar way. Kinda like when you're jamming with someone and you both just sync up for a moment and its fucking sick
@rimenuir910
Жыл бұрын
way too coincidental tbh. How'd he know it was gonna be a triplet based fill there? Just odd.
@haarmonic
Жыл бұрын
@@rimenuir910 lol the rhythm? it's not like their hands match up. You should learn up on the concept of improvisation in jazz. "Riffing off of each other" is a huge part of it. Specifically, inferring rhythm melodies from the context of the song. To a trained drummer, he played the only fill that made any sense.
@rimenuir910
Жыл бұрын
@@haarmonic See, a 6 fill makes sense, a 4 beat 6 fill is way too coincidental? Also all the feel changes he seemed to pick up a little to quickly. Even as a well trained drummer (8 years marching snare, 15 years as a trained drumset player) his grip on the changes feels like he is prepared for a feel change. Also the fill to the end. I think he has 100% heard this song at least once before.
@matttwiggmusic

@@rimenuir910 I honestly wouldn't even be remotely surprised if he hadn't heard it at all, I get the skepticism but you have to realise this guy has been doing literally this (getting mostly songs he's never heard requested live on stream and improvising over them) for 12 hours a week every week for the past 7 years, plus whatever practice we don't see on his live streams. There are maybe a handful of people in the world with that wealth of specialized improvisational experience across the clusterfuck of genres he's asked to play
I learned of this band from the stream when you played G.O.A.T. They are so good!
Bro made this 100x groovier.
I love how he played pretty much exactly the same as the original track. I guess good drummers just have that ability to know what grooves with a song and what doesn't
Love it Jerod. Been dying to hear you do any of their songs for a long time and you did not disappoint. Hope for more in the future. Bravo.
スプラッシュシンバルとか頻繁に使う曲だし初めてでこのクオリティはまじで上手すぎる
If this is the route we are headed, i want to see him go through a Ne Obliviscaris arc and see him attempt to play their songs
I play this song once almost every day at work and it brought me so much genuine joy to see you play along to it! You did amazing, bro!
The way he adapts to these songs makes me smile
I didn't know it was possible to conjure this wizardry on the fly like this😳🤩
MAN! ive watched some of your stuff before but it gets me going when people are digging Polyphia freshly. Your solid as a rock my dude. keep on keeping on!
The snare game in that song is crazy difficult. It's impressive how Jerod managed to get the hang of it so fast!
Nice drums bro
0:40 Jerod and the drummer, Clay, accidentally sync up lmao
Awesome blind interpretation. I loved it!
PLSSS DO MORE POLYPHIA SONGS 🔥

Polyphia's creative process for the songs is really cool as well if you ever get the time to check it out.
i instantly clicked when i saw the notif
Phenomenal improv!!!
While I don't think this is better than the original drum track, I'm happy he came up with his own take instead of trying to cover it. Way more interesting that way. Great video.
Polyphia is sooo god damn good!!
Nailed it. Just nailed it.
Oh boy, now polyphia is here…expect more to come
That was sick
I love watching him try to predict whats coming next in the song and getting it completely wrong lmao

How does he do this, does he play along, or is he adlibing on the spot?
@Nate007x2
Жыл бұрын
Adlibing. Think of him like a reverse Jazz musician, most Jazz establishes a normal rhythm provided by the drums and the other players (Sax, Guitar, Ect) improvise around it. For 8 bit, all the other musicians are playing an established song, allowing him to do rhythm improvisation on the drums instead.
