First time at Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears, Michigan - August 2020

This was the first time our family took our Jeep Gladiator off road. It handled the Silver Lake Sand Dunes with ease. Our tonneau cover popped open once with all of our camping gear in the back bumping all around. Next time, we will go without the gear so we can move a bit faster.

Smart not crossing those puddles through the middle, I've heard too many horror stories of people hydrolocking their engines up there. They look very deceiving on how deep they are at times. One year when you could still park all the way down next to the beach, we decided to take our F250s down by the beach. Only one spot was shallow enough for us to get across close to the trees, and even there it ended up coming up to our headlights. We were on 35s, so that was close to 4 feet deep. If it wasn't such a short crossing and didn't test it our first, we wouldn't have done it. We were also ready with straps to pull each other out quickly if needed. That was the only time we've ever done it though lol. Always a good time up there!

Me and my buddies used to ride our dirt bikes in those dunes back in the early '70s. There was a nudest camp in the area and we'd peak over the fence and watch the weirdos walk around and play volleyball and horseshoes. It must have been pretty tough to be naked considering that the deer-flies, pricker plants and mosquitoes were flat-out awful! October 28, 2022

It's an Overland, 1.5 inch Teraflex leveling kit on 35x12.5x 17 BFG KO2s. Handled it very easily. It's my daily driver so I want don't want to go crazy especially with my family in the truck.

Still find sand to this day. No damage, but we took it easy with the family inside and that the vehicle is my daily driver. We're heading back again later this summer. Loved it.

How did you attach the flag?

I bought the flag and attachment harness at the DuneLand Off-Road Center right outside of the entrance. You could probably get it at Silverback Offroad too. It attaches to the front tow hook. Super simple. Bring a small ratchet set with you to attach it, need to tighten it with some locking nuts (provided with that harness purchase). It would be annoying to use a wrench to tighten it up.

If you decide to file a comprehensive claim and damage meets your deductible/was not mechanical breakdown I don’t see claim being denied. Less the claims rep knows is better obviously
