I could smell the diesel exhaust with a hint of ether through the video! Watching it run, I really did feel like I caught a wiff.

Bro I’ve had the smell of diesel sense I started watching the video 😂
love this video. wicked to show the emotional roller coaster of a new engine fire up. ..stress…excitement.. worry..satisfaction.. pride.. it’s a great moment bringing a new member of the family to life!! lol.
That first start up is nerve racking. I just finished rebuilding a forklift and yeah for the first start you are walking around and listening and checking oil pressures, just to make sure everything is right.
Been working as a 310t mechanic and I recently been thinking about diesel racing trucks. Was all about the gas before but now I’m really thinking diesel. Y’all the first people I looked to for info on making power. Love your content and looking forward to seeing more. Cheers
Dang I love the look of that truck!
Lots of smiles per miles from that engine!
Sick. Can’t wait for the turbos to get put on
i wish cummins would start making their legendary p-pump 12 valve engines again.

Hope to see you around town my 97 is the same silver but a maroon instead of blue I’m aiming for that 650 700 range you just left keep on keeping on
Looking forward to the PPD Borgarret GT-EFR-X compound turbo setup.
I’m no fan boy but I am proud to say I run only power driven parts in my truck. I have no idea why this channel hasn’t gained more traction in comparison to some of the other KZread channels. Nothing negative to say about those guys I just don’t understand. Is our demographic that small in the automotive world do people just not know about you guys? I apologize I’m long-winded I knew nothing about diesel. I called you guys several times every time you’re more than helpful whether it was the young lady or any of the fellas please keep up the hard work.

I really thank that kid on the engine hoist for doing my fire rings as fast as he did me and him put my engine block on his cart 15 minutes later he comes out of the shop he was done I was like WHATTTT like a minion

Sounds mean! Can’t wait to see it all back together! Sweet timing cover. So how long is it safe to run without coolant? We’re about to put the rebuilt engine back in my son’s ‘96 and will be doing cam breakin and hot retorque process as well.
@CumminsWorks

Depends on outside temps, we just use a temp gauge on the oil filter to judge oil temp. Generally you’re safe idling for 2-3 minutes. Just don’t beat on it or you’ll cook the head gasket at the exhaust ports.
The answer is yes. :D
That engine is pimp🙃
You should be putting the sump in the rear of the tank in a truck like this.
Looks like it has a good dose of idle haze. What injectors and timing you got now?
@pddofficial
2 жыл бұрын
It does look pretty hazy! We'll see how it looks after break-in with the bigger injectors and more timing.... hopefully it cleans up.
I love your channel ,but it seems like every video you guys are talking more then showing the actual wrenching ..I know that when it is time to put a Cummins in my f350 where to get parts from .Keep The great videos coming ..
here's another reason to not install the turbos and cooling system before the first fire, the machine shop may have forgot to grind your valves so the head has to come back off and go back to the machine shop... ask me how I know

I appreciate the videos and the information. I was also wondering the how long to let engine run first start up no water . Are you using the 5.9 or the 6.7 oil cooler . Is a fluid damper worth the investment on a lower hp build . . I was thinking the Stroker engine might spool the turbos better . The oil pump is also for a 5.9 ? THANKS nice truck bu the way .
@pddofficial
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim it ran for 15mins just enough to brake a cam in and get the oil to 160 degrees.for the oil cooler it is a 5.9 oil cooler. For the fluidamper they are a very nice unit and help a lot engine vibration at any HP . Stoker engines help a lot to spool turbos up . For the oil pump it is a 5.9 motor
Can you run 20w50 and 15w40 mix all the time just wondering. Love the sound can't wait to see what it does at the trac

So why not have the Radiator and coolant in
I’ve been told to slam the throttle on first start up to set the ring can anyone confirm if this would be a good idea after a rebuild or on a new engine, this would be after seeing it idles for a second
@pddofficial
2 ай бұрын
First check for leaks an oil pressure then cam break in followed by loading it up or hooking to a trailer to run around lugging it to build up cylinder heat to seat the rings.
Why would you need to boost reference a regulator on a diesel? The injectors are working against cylinder pressure, not intake manifold pressure.
Are there any dyno videos on this truck? I looked for one and no luck

is a hot retorque only try to torque them again or loosing and torquing every stud?

It is tightening the studs as they have more camping force after the move with a heat cycle especially with o rings or fire rings

How much to build on 1200 hp
@DeathHead1358
2 жыл бұрын
You'll probably be looking at the $10k+ range. The only thing that you'd likely be able to use from the original engine is the block and head, with work done to both. The stock bottom end will hold 700-800hp, but you're really asking for trouble trying to higher than that. Compound turbos are ideal, just for the sake of being able to spool them easily. You could run a fuckoff huge single turbo, but nitrous would be a must to spool it up. You would also need a serious injector pump, that would be around $3k alone to buy a new one.
What in the world did y’all do to that crossmember to get it to slide in that easy??!!!???

my go to method of getting it in easy is spraying some silicone lubricant on the rails and giving it some love taps into place with a dead blow. Helps a ton to have the truck up on a lift too.

We have a single predator on the Junker Drag Truck and it makes 1500 HP to the rear tires. Just testing something new on this truck. If we have trouble with the electric setup, it will end up with a mechanical lift pump like a predator or a waterman.
