Man, the 900 was a trick most never thought to be possible, the ultimate trick. When tony hawk did it, it literally changed skateboarding, so with that in mind this 1080 is actually mind blowing

The reason the 1080 is now possible is because they have foam pits to help you land and other improvements that make skating safer and easier than it used to be. If Tony had all these facilities growing up he would have been doing 1080s as well.

Except he didn't best Tony Hawk. The kid weighs very little, much less than an adult, and is using a roll-in setup that allows for much more speed and height. So put those two things together and he's got a hell of an advantage. He's a great skateboarder, don't get me wrong - but his 1080 as a child on this type of ramp is not anywhere near as impressive or groundbreaking as Tony landing the 900.

  • @bluepandaman

He did more spins but that by no means he's better than Tony Hawk. Tony is 6'3" and this kid is using a roll-in setup. If Tony was a borderline little-person like this kid he'd be doing 1080 or more. Not to mention the kid didn't perform the trick at the X-Games in front of the world.

The W.M ramp and Woodward ramps are same size. were they did the FIRST runs. tom later that year did the 1080 multiple times. on a easily smaller ramp. that's how all x-sports are, they scale it down after FIRST LAND. But tom already had done it First, so his FIRST one was the one people cared about. either way you look at it tom did it FIRST. (around same age too) again its just Guinness trying to capitalize on this kid too. don't just take the easy answer of what you see in one video. from a company..... do the research. or like me be involved in the community as this history was happening.

Very cool. Is nowhere near as significant for skateboarding as a sport as Tony's 900, but still very cool.

Non-Skater here: How is it that Shecks can win X Games gold at 13 and this little guy lands a 1080, when it took Birdman a little over a decade to land the 900? Is skating easier when you’re younger?

Kids don't get injured as easily, there lighter meaning there slams aren't as hard. The best skater in the world is probably that Japanese kid that is the perfect size for skateboarding. Like a jockey on a horse.. a tall person in basketball.

Ugh..these comments..lol..It took hawk that long because it had never been done so he had to learn the mechanics of the trick without help from anyone showing him how it’s done...nowadays kids learn off of what was done in the past..that how it works..another words, this kid would have never learned how to do it that early without other skaters b4 him laying down the foundation
