Well... Ben Schmidt, Mr.Clean, and Matthew DeBerardinis, The engine is the same as the BMW F650 Fundero dual sport bike, which back in '99 won the Paris to Dakar Rally. Top speed as tested is 75mph stock so 80mph is not out of the question, plus in testing it blew away the Banshee and 400ex. These were heavy machines but were designed for the dunes hence the DS (Dune Sport) designation. We milled and crammed a manifold for twin 42mm carbs on a DS650 like the F650 BMW and it was stupid unrealistically fast, the tires were heavy and would float spinning on the rims. We know this because we marked the wheel to tire position, it was only good for straight line racing and be damned sure the rear tire pressures were the same or you'd be left or right of where you started. Last I heard it was in pieces down in Iowa/Minnesota boarder. If you want more info I can tell you some free go fast or to anyone who owns a DS 650, The engine left a lot on the table in after market parts to make this a very fast machine.

Use some dialectical grease on the plugs mainly that oil temp light plug you can get it from any local auto parts store it’s a lube that conducts electrical connections awesome stuff it’s a must for people that rides in a lot of mud and water and didn’t you have a couple carbs that came with the ds650 I’d say that carb that’s on it is junk and you could possibly wire the fan to a toggle switch or to the head light so you can just run the fan all the time cause you don’t want to overheat it that will kill it I’ve heard the ds650 is very unreliable but idk for sure I’ve never owned one because I’m a Honda man.
