If you want to cry just listen to "Say my name". The story behind and her range is just out of this world.

WT is another Dutch band besides Epica! Singer Sharon den Andel is a self taught vocalist and designs her own dresses.

My female Freddie Mercury on Stage, with a little Kate Bush interpretive dancing mixed in. THIS IS THE BEST overall full concert DVD/Blu Ray... a MUST have, and the bonus disc is tons of fun, info and more music!!! Funny thing abou this one off concert with full orchestra and choir added in... three days prior to the gig, her voice vanished.. unknown... but THANK GOD she got it back the morning of the show. It took four hours of performing to make this 2 hour Concert DVD.... I want to see the couple of songs that were left out... three or four, I think.

Nightwish, Epica, and now Within Temptation. What a triple bombs of music 👍👍👍

What I like very much is that we see comments in writing instead of stopping the song for comments. Sharon has got an angel like voice and a smile matching it. I will subscribe. Thank you, Sabina.

You should react to more from this concert. It’s just wonderful from start to finish.

From this same concert is also a truly beautiful song by Within Tempation that is sang as a duet with Anneke van Griersbergen. Anneke is the queen mother of all Dutch metal queens (Floor, Simone and Sharon). Tuomas from Nightwish has said that Anneke was the main inspiration for him to deceide that he wanted a female singer for the band that he was starting. The version of Somewhere from this concert you just listened to is often referred to as the best duet ever :)

WOW. What another band. They just keep on coming. Are these Scandinavian as well. Like Nightwish but not if you know what I mean. She is amazing. Truly amazing and what energy. You have finally found my favorite female vocalist For 12 years running almost.... But I will say with Angelina Jordan swiftly coming up And eventually they will have to share that top spotlight for me.... Sharon is now 48 and Angelina is still 16... There is so much great production between the 2 of them.

Hi Sabina, always so lovely to watch and hear your reactions, thank you. Yes, WT are something else. Sharon is an amazing front woman and they really are that great in a live performance. I managed to catch them a number of years ago after having been a fan for decades. Granted, this time they were with the orchestra, so the strings, brass and choir really knock it out of the park - even without though, they are incredible. Please delve into their other records and put them up for us to see! I have tickets to watch them perform in November alongside Evanescence - two amazing female vocalists and bands together. The Netherlands. Small country, big performers. Not afraid to open a can of orchestra and a can of choir. Also the (original) home of the best female vocalists.

Her voice is mystical and soothing you will love this band all there stuff is great need more the whole band and all were kicking ass she commands the stage

to rap it up.... WT is my favorite metal band in the world, and SHARON is my favorite long term vocalist since I had rediscovered her in 2010. Angelina Jordan is coming up fast from behind though with her youth for that top female vocalist spot, with all that youth and versatility she naturally has, as is Sharon also a natural, being self taught. She has been WT front woman since like 1997, in earnest and is still great at her age and having raised a full family too. THEIR music has morphed through out time, as they refresh their vision. They started out more Celtic/Goth/Fairy-tale metal sounding with some death growls mixed in and a very EURO sound, in my USA mindset. Then they developed more into their empowering an emotional symphonic heavy metal sound, which was my favorite stage. Then, after feeling they had accomplished that goal, they switched to more of a retro metal rock sound with modernized approach with many collaborations with many others, including rap artists. NOW, they are morphed again, as to what I would maybe call a SYNTH Complex Metal sound, borrowing from all their prior sounds and such though, as has UNLEASH THE ARCHERS , from Vancouver Canada now seemed to do a couple years back as well. I have seen WT live twice and after show met and pics with Sharon... and HUGS.!!! Although I have to admit, Elize Ryd, from AMARANTHE is a GREATER hugger!!!!

I found this band by chance over a decade ago, seeing the album cover on Amazon and listening to a quick sample. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I used it as a ring tone for my mother, when she was still with us, and I still get memories of her when I hear it. Sharon is so multi-talented and is such a force of nature, and I promise you that you will delight in the exploration of their music. Sharon's husband, Robert, is the shaved head guitarist, who only performs with them in the Netherlands, but composes and records on all of their albums. Otherwise, he is the Daddy to their children, while the irreplaceable Sharon tours with the others. Watch the video for "Frozen" - it tells a heart-stopping story, but is very meaningful, as is the song. "Covered In Roses" is another of my favorites, high positive energy. For me, they are as near on my list to Nightwish as anybody can get.

Yes, Black Symphony is pure magic! The crazy thing is that Sharon was still recovering from the flu during the concert, mindblowing that she still sounded this good. Do check out more from this concert, especially "The Promise", "Stand my Ground" and "The Truth Beneath the Rose" are absolute masterpieces.

Many many years ago this was the song, that got me into the metal genre. I don't know if it was the intro or the ending, but the song was featured in the anime series "X". I loved the song that much, that I went into the store the next day and bought the album. It was my first metal album, and I'm into metal ever since.😄 Check out her cover of Adeles song "Skyfall". Amazing.😁

Good reaction. Within Temptation was the first band i ever saw live in 2010. This concert from 2008 is great. Got the Blu-ray and became a big fan after watching the dvd a lot of times. Been to most of their shows after watching this one. Later this year they have a show together with evanescence. The Worlds Collide tour. Go to this one and the 2 Nightwish shows in the days before the Within Temptation show end november this year. Thank you for this reaction.

I love seeing new people discover this incredible band! I’ve loved them for so long, ever since I was a teenager. You can say so many fantastic things about so many of these symphonic metal bands and singers, but they’re my favorite. Their versatility and the way they weave so many metaphors and social issues into their songs is so awesome. And as a singer, Sharon den Adel is IT for me. She has such sparkling starlight energy that just captivates everyone. She owns any stage. And her VOICE-she’s like a siren, or an angel. Her high notes are so clear and crystaline, but as you check them out more you’ll realize she’s got a lot of power and a great gritty lower range as well. Highly recommend some of their later songs like Let Us Burn and The Purge to hear that! But this whole concert is magical, and just from this I recommend The Truth Beneath the Rose and Somewhere, her duet with Anneke, another Dutch legend.

You can safetely do the whole black symphony concert. Its amazing. The version of the Promise is probably as close to perfection it will ever be....

This is the concert from Rotterdam, 2008. Was there myself. Sharon, sings just beautifully. Live or studio. An excellent band. And a huge experience. p.s. You are getting to know quite a few Dutch female lead singers. Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation.

I have this concert. This song is near the end. Sharon herself has expressed that this album that this song comes from is her favorite. It’s a pretty fair depiction of their energy and sound. I haven’t commented in a while so I wanted to stop by and leave some love. 🥰

Hi! Thanks for making a 1st reaction video on WT. I'm 53 yrs old, went thru 70ies rock, 80ies pop, 90ies indie and alternative, but ever since I heard Within Temptation with "Mother Earth" for the first time around 2002 I was hooked. Since then they've been my #1 band w/o question. Their energy, their compositions, the quality of the instrumentalists, and, oh, Sharon den Adel's angelic voice. To think that she is an autodidact and not a trained classical or opera singer like Floor Jansen, Tarja Turunen, or Epica's Simone Simons. She's great. I've seen them live three times over the years and they have never disappointed me. If you want to react to other WT songs, look for "The Truth Beneath The Rose" (also from Black Symphony concert) or "Candles" (from the Elements concert tour, kzread.info/dash/bejne/aGxso6urZsvMf6g.html). The latter has a huge epicness factor. If you want a real treat, checkout their cover versions of Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness". Can you imaging that WT energy on that song? They have so much fun playing that song. It's a staple in their setlists.

I was fortunately to see them live back in 2004 or 2006 i believe at pinkpop( dutch popfestival as within temptation is dutch) another cool song is icequeen...my next recommendation would be again with metropole and anneke van griesbergen( dutch as well ) somewhere in between beautiful song

They are my favorite band Ive seen them several times live and are going to see them twice again this year, and they are even better live than on album. If you liked this one a lot I would recommend The Promise from the same concert (Black Symphony) or Candles from Mera Luna festival 2016 which is also on KZread. But anything from them is golden honestly. Id love to see more WT reactions!! Also, my favorite song from them is Restless from their first album, Enter

I (Dutch just like this cool amazing band) have seen them life 3x, where Sharon was dressed like an angel with big wings, 1x a performance before Rammstein.

Hi Sabina, great reaction to this performance. Within Temptation has loads of epic songs. Viewing their show Black Symphony will give an ideaof their repertoire until that time. I was fortunate to be at this concert and it was magical. Got the Bluray to remember it all. Personally I very much like the song “What Have You Done” on this show. Have fun with discovering this band!

It is so awesome to see you experience this band because they are one of the best in the business, I was hoping when I started watching you discover Nightwish that you would eventually end up on the Within Temptation doorstep. 😄 I can't really name a "favorite song" they are just that good....I will fill you in on the first couple of songs I experienced.....first was The Other Half (Of Me) which was on a mixtape of similar bands that I listened to....followed by Ice Queen, then Stand my Ground and The Howling then came Mother Earth. Some other of my favorite songs by them are Faster, Sinead, The Truth Beneath the Rose, Angels and lastly Forsaken. They have no truly bad music although I enjoyed some albums more than others for sure.

Finally!!! It's a band I like and love!!! (ok, you did ramstein... (and I'm French so my english is aproximative)) Seen them one time (Hydra tour) and yes, it's just amazing! Metropole orchestra is one of the best albums

I am rather shocked you were not in tune with within temptation Sabina…. I mean they are so amazing one of the truly premier symphonic metal bands from Europe. I love Sharon she has commanding presence on the stage they talk about Floor command in the stage but I’ve always thought Sharon reigns supreme in that regard. She’s just stunningly beautiful too!!

Another fine export from The Netherlands..one of my favourite bands. This song taken from the album of the same name goes back to around 2000. Great to see that this version with an orchestra still has that Celtic metal feel about it…just like the original. Sharon Den Adel has a beautiful voice which suits the band perfectly. WT have an awesome back catalogue that is worth checking out. The song itself through the lyrics endeavours to teach humility and respect to the Earth…something Greta Thunberg would no doubt approve of. The collaboration between the orchestra and the band is a match made in heaven. Although this is an early WT track, it set the standard for their future works. Sabina..great to see that you were taking in and enjoying the experience. Trust me, this is only a small sample of their fine work. Beautiful.

@@sabina1118 Actually this is the first time I’ve seen this live performance with a full orchestra. This was a new one for me therefore. The official video is worth watching..Sharon Den Adel transforming into an owl and then a magical spirit while observing what’s around her…very Celtic sound and a Narnia type feel within the video.

this video is very old! ...then I was young! It's amusing that youngsters are still dealing with it these days! Addendum: But it is also a hammer song!

Mother Earth is one of the best albums ever made.

Well that was a month ago. Have you followed it up by listening to any more Within Temptation? I hope so. Such a great band.

I was there :-) Personally i think they lost touch with their identity during those times. But the concert was nice. Unfortunately the mixing was a drama. If you're used to Epica like me, you'll know it's an integral part of their music. During this concert the band played twice as loud during most songs. Which is a shame. Truth be told i was half stoned from antibiotics for a tooth 'thing'. I basically slept through the pre show lol

@@sabina1118 yupp yupp, i was there, high on antibiotics with friends. Was good fun. I am a bit critical about things, but i really enjoyed it. The duet with Anneke van Giersbergen is a MUST watch for sure! She's a bit of a legend here and one of The first to sing with the combination low heavy metal and opera type voices. (The gathering). Also, the concert intro was done by the orchestra they are REALLY good. No singing, but worth a listen. Btw. If you like this setup, the Danish national orchestra has some real gems when it comes to movie music. (Good, bad and the ugly, once upon a time in the west, end of all times (lotr) etc etc. Enjoy 😀
