Although he was a British citizen, Freddie was actually born Farouk Bulsara in Zanzibar to parsi parents. He spent most of his childhood in India at an English style boarding school. He and his family came to England when he was about 17 due to violent uprisings in Zanzibar at that time. But Brian (guitar), Roger (drums) and John (bass) were all born here in England, yes.

The most successful band from the UK would be The Beatles, but there are also The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeplin, The Animals, The Bee Gees, Black Sabbath, Oasis, plus solo artists like George Michael, Elton John and David Bowie, just to name a few.

Queen did the movie soundtrack for a 1980’s fantasy movie called Highlander. Each member wrote songs. Fun fact brian wasnt playing his guitar till the solo. He wasnt happy with the song and the meaning of it. At the time aids was on the rise and they were concerned with freddie. Brian was against it until later on listening to the fans " we see and hear it as having a good time and fun song." Then brian reconsidered they re-record it with brian singing and playing his guitar.

But, whether they’re your British cup of tea or not, the British band that eclipse all of them for notoriety would be The Beatles. No one before or since has had as much of an impact on the development of rock/pop than they did. Again, whether you personally think they’re the “best” or not.

The most famous band to come out of Britian? Hard to say because there are at least 100 bands from the Briitsh invasion. I would have to say The Beatles because they were the FIRST band from Britian to come to America, February 9, 1964 and changed EVERYTHING about music and rock music. Soooo many bands were inpsired by The Beatles.
