The meaning behind "step back" is also the reason why SM took down the lyric captions. Most people thought that because they were debuting a girl group named "Girls on Top", that the songs would mainly be about female empowerment. But the song itself is about a girl who is trying to get between a couple's relationship (a homewrecker). And while the lyrics themselves are not problematic, because there's nothing wrong with a woman telling another girl to back off from her relationship (since the lyrics say that both the guy and his girlfriend don't like what this girl is doing), it sparked some anger that SM would give them these kinds of lyrics in the first place, which are ambiguous, versus playing into their concept and playing something safe.

SM is serious when it comes to music. they even build their own orchestra team which constantly held their own concert for its listeners. and now we can see them having their own DJs and involved them in the music production too. they even hold a free seminar for any music writers, composers who wanted to deepen their knowledge about music. They also hold online concert of their own. FREE. They also ahead when it comes to audio visual technology, having their own team for the production within the company, and have been built that since more than a decade. I mean, they already have a holographic concert back in 2009 when nobody (in k-ent) even think about creating one, yet. creating avatar since 2 decades ago, etc.

I think Stamp On It is very cool...I dug it from the first time I heard it. The whole thing is a vibe. Music doesn't have to 'follow the rules'...though sometimes switchups can get messy, but SM seems to get it right, from what I've heard.

Honestly i felt confused about the entire album but remember these people listen to the songs a hundreds times before putting it out, jist to make sure it sticks. And when i tell you all of the songs grow on you, you must listen to it a lot to let it sut and its fire. Yeah, was not a fan of any of the songs on their mini album, which is a shame because I love all of these girls. No shade I feel like we know by now how experimental SM be with sounds I mean Aespa itself was a great example of that and I even saw some comments say that Stamp on it sounds like NCT’s sticker and ummm stamp on it is way better than Sticker. Stamp on it is good it’s just super dragged out because how many various sounds it has but it’s not like nothing crazy we haven’t heard I mean groups like Aespa and NMIXX made sure of that 😭. yeah, I agree with you. for me I didn't enjoy SOI because the arrangement was a bit out of place? the intro instrument the baby baby part wasn't it. personally I like sticker more SOI because sticker's chorus, bridge and raps were better. sticker's only issue was the flute but now I'm used to it but SOI..there are many parts that sounded kind of out of place. I did enjoy the bsides, rose and alter ego were really good and I prefer them over SOI.

At least y'all are honest. That is rare among kpop react KZreadrs because so many are afraid of a backlash from kpop fans if they're too critical. I didn't like "Step Back" when it debuted and I still don't like it. The lyrics don't do it for me but it's not my biggest issue bc I can always turn off the caption if the lyrics bother me. What condemns "Step Back" for me is the god awful instrumental. It's too loud. SM has some of the best singers in the industry but their vocals have to compete with the instrumental. Make it make sense? When Seulgi comes in another sound is added to the instrumental that makes the song torturous to listen to. I actually like "Stamp On It." The girls still have to compete with the instrumental but at least it isn't as crazy as "Step Back."
