I think the issue was that they didn't release the song on streaming services alongside the stage like they did with Step Back. If they had done that then it would have done well and they still could've waited to release the album and video when they did. But by the time they released the actual song interest had moved on.

It hasn't done well on charts but honestly the spotify streams are kinda insane considering a lot of people were boycotting it, it is at pair with RV's birthday which got released months earlier.

Owen and Kevin are always my favorite. But I have felt the way that Ju Young and Owen have talked about many times with various songs, like - this is a good art piece. I love that feeling so much. Even when it isn't a song I might listen to regularly - or like Liam was talking about, it could be something interesting I could return to and appreciate on a different level than just thinking it's something I just listen to for pure feel good enjoyment.

Just to clarify, the sample is from "El Helwa Di" the song is originally by Sayed Darwish, who is a legendary egyptian singer composer and lyricist, the song was later remade by many singers, most famously by Fayrouz, Dania Khatib's version was also a remake

I don't think the song is too long, though. I personally don't like tracks shorter than 3 minutes, especially now that streaming services are so relevant and their presence promoting replays. This track's length and the journey it goes through is just right for me 👌 And true to the group's purpose, this track and the mini album as a whole feels very _performative_ , like they're composed to impress audience when on stage in mind rather than for replays in streams

I kinda agree with how a song's length preference. But that perspective has different factors: 1. Maybe we both enjoy songs that have 3 minutes length or more because we are more used to it. Just like people in the past who enjoy songs with 5-8 minutes length because it was a common thing back then. 2. The way the sounds and song structure played out is also a factor because at times, a song could feels too short when there were too much short sections got put together. But when a song has a little bit less complexity in the structure, the "this song is too short" feeling wasn't really felt. There are quite a few songs that were shorter than 3 minutes but it doesn't feel that way.

Me too... Actually i hated the song initially because of this , for me they ruined both songs, my childhood song الحلوة دي and stamp on it. I kinda like it now but no... other songs of the album are definitely better

He does it for so many songs lol. Maybe just as a TVXQ fan, I know he had some bg vocals in Changmin's Devil, and TVXQ's Before U Go, and a few of their B-sides as well. YYJ also sings the high note in SNSD's The Boys.

this song definitely broke my brain a bit. Probably the only song to have made me write down a "road map" or like "figure out" the structure. I remember the first listen I was so confused looking for the chorus every section just felt like a new peak. the only "weakness" for me was just how long it was but one of the comments here encapsulates how I feel about that too hahaha

The reason why it feels long is partly because the song doesn't really carry its momentum throughout the whole song. Like, when the bridge comes in, it's a change-up and the momentum starts to pick up, but then after that it kind of brings back the older motifs (like the pre-chorus, instead of just the chorus), which kind of feels like it drags on the momentum. That's why this song isn't my cup of tea, but I still appreciate how wild it gets and also the cool vibes it has :D

I never studied Music at all so I have no clue about theory (besides things I have picked up watching your channel), I just know when I like hearing something. For me, this was GREAT, I loved it right away! I understand that lots of other people either hated it instantly or thought they would wait and allow it to grow on them. Somebody else actually got called a 'psychopath' for liking it the way I do. Also got called a simp, as if it was only the singers involved that made us like it...which is false. I certainly do like all of these singers and rappers but that's not why I like the song. It was put together very well, it's experimental. I prefer to remain open-minded whenever possible. I actually have problems with people who want music to be RIGID because that leaves no room for creativity.

one thing is for sure, Dem Jointz does an amazing job in all his productions, something totally different from the musical cliche we have in music today.

OH MY, I didn't realize that the key interval between verse/chorus to post-chorus is a tritone (Devil's Interval). The moment it was pointed out, it was like a lightbulb suddenly lit in my brain, that I thought (spoiler alert): . . . . . "Is that why the ending of Aespa SMCU Ep. 3 like that?" Theory time: I assume that BoA is the one forming this particular group of girls in SMCU lore, and since BoA is related to Black Mamba, this track (which has _The Interval_ ) is composed for GOT the Beat to hint that at least one of the members (BoA) is antagonistic. I'm probably rambling nonsense 🤷‍♂️

Dem Jointz makes a lot of SM Entertainment songs, and all of them have been bangers ~~ Yes, some of the most well-known examples are Obsession by EXO, Sticker by NCT 127 (actually probably the majority of their songs), 2YA2YAO by Super Junior with him and Zico, Step Back and Stamp on It by GOT The Beat, Don't Call Me by Shinee, and a lot more~ If you just hear his producer tag, you'll know who produced the song.

I somehow start to feel like Yoo Youngjin, um, stepping back recently has more to do with being tired of the criticizm, because the man LOVES combining strawberries with broccolies (the sketch was hilarious). After your breakdown I feel like this song was an attempt to do something more normal and balanced, but it ended up feeling too long and even monotonous (probably because of building on a dominant) and met a lot of hate.
