You need to see their live concert medleys. They sound better than studio version and smash it with full choreo and the sets are insane. Loving your Exo journey!!! Acoustic medley with Call Me Baby and the Mama + Monster + Wolf medleys are a great start. Then you will really understand they are a class above the rest of kpop

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, Chen uses his ability to control electricity (because he has the power of thunder and lightning) to manipulate something to do with the TVs that are playing behind him and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end you see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO, you need to be aware that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it's how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote all as one group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. Therefore, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have created a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love and compassion and respect, etc. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. And we now think it is linked to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV, where we see a meteor on a collision course for Earth and EXO are trying to figure out how to prevent it from destroying the world. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those all-black outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs, which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light. 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force. ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening, as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind. EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost). 🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity. (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group.) The Chinese members who are no longer part of the group, but are still an important part of EXO's storyline: 🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon (Kris left the group in April 2014.) 💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis -- the ability to control things with his mind. (Luhan left the group in October 2014.) ⏰Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time. (Tao ended activities with EXO in August 2015.)

I'm so proud of how they sing with acapella so well, even the producers of Tempo songs also highly praised EXO's vocal quality, So many agencies asked the producers of this tempo song, to make a song like Tempo, But he couldn't, he said "I can't make songs like Tempo anymore, and as good as EXO sings Tempo songs" He even said "Kpop let's be smarter, don't try to be the same as EXO, you guys won't be able to" Even to this day, there is no Kpop group that can perform Tempo songs to the end with Acapella

EXO has a huge discography of amazing songs and their B sides are often more popular with the fans (EXO-Ls) than their title tracks. If there isn't an MV there's always color-coded lyric videos and often a dance practice (ex. The Eve, Oh LaLaLa, Electric Kiss) or live performance video to watch. (Seoul concert performances won't get blocked. Japan performances are often blocked except for a handful). If in doubt about what won't get blocked search for other reaction videos to the song (sound off, no spoilers) & see what link they used.

The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo is intentionally a prominent part of the song. I think the tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV and be the driving force spurring them on in the story. However, if you read the lyrics, you see that in the song they are talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. (The underlying theme of the song is a tongue and cheek reference to sexual innuendo.) On the surface, the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on. As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the acapella part in the song. SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry, so all of SM's artists are outstanding vocalists. Fun fact: There wasn't supposed to be an acapella section in the song. The members were just messing around in the recording studio riffing with each other and the sound engineer loved it so much that they decided to put it in the song. EXO are known as the "Vocal Kings of Kpop" for a reason. "Tempo" came out in 2018, so there are 9 members in this MV. (Only 8 members are in the group scenes.) This is special because it's the first time we have seen Lay, EXO's Chinese member, participate in anything with EXO since 2016 and you won't see him again in another EXO project until their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV in 2021. However, although Lay was in this MV, you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version, but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version. To understand the choices being made in this song and the story in the MV, you have to be aware that everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 11+ years -- since pre-debut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. EXO debuted in 2012 and from day one, the group's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the evil Red Forces. As otherworldly beings, each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them. The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. What fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it's showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc. They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we see them in their "Overdose" MVs. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times. Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside. You see Chanyeol (one of the main rappers) being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted. Also notice how the inkblot looks like it's shaped like a butterfly. The butterfly is also an important part of SM's Culture Universe storyline. We see a butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MVs in 2012, which is thought to be connected to the colorful butterfly that is Ningnig's symbol in aespa's story, so you will see it all the time in aespa's MVs starting in 2020 as she navigates through the digital world. You also will see a butterfly appear in several of SM's other groups' MVs, which is often used as a metaphor to represent a woman -- possibly representing a connection to the heart of the Tree of Life from EXO's storyline -- in each of the MVs, as a way to connect all of SM's storylines together. For example, there is also a white butterfly in NCT-127's "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, which is meant to represent the "vampire" woman that they are singing about, and it's even thought it could be connected to the white butterfly in SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. It also could be the white butterfly that helps aespa navigate through Kwangya in aespa's "aespa ep. 2 'Next Level' - SM Culture Universe" video in 2022, which would explain why we see a similar butterfly in all of SM's storylines. The butterfly appears to help everyone as they travel through Kwangya. (Everything SM does has to do with Kwangya -- even SM's new building where everything is created and produced is called Kwangya. Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists' concepts, and most of their MV storylines revolve around.) Therefore, the butterfly inkblot could be used as a way to try and break the control the Red Force has over EXO and to remind them of the fact that they need to find their way out of the maze and to not forget what their mission is, etc. Halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be. The silhouettes you see behind the lighted white wall or box also could be connected to the silhouettes you will see when you watch EXO's live remixed version of their song "Wolf" in concert. The silhouettes could represent the fact that EXO are battling with X-EXO for control. (And, now, it also could be connected to the silhouettes we see behind the white wall in SHINee's new "Hard" MV.) The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling, things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve. At one point you see them take those "chess" pieces and put them together to form a larger cube shape, which is thought could possibly be a model of the maze in which they are trapped in. And I think this also may be connected to the cube/labyrinth maze we see floating in the air in WayV's "Love Talk" MV in 2019 and the similar cube we see blocking aespa's way as they travel through Kwangya in aespa's ep. 2 video. And I think it might even be connected to the cubes we see in the sky in EXO Kai's solo "Mmmh" MV in 2020, as well as the labyrinth cube we see SHINee's Key standing on top of in his solo "Gasoline" MV in 2022. (Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV, are all members of the Kpop supergroup SuperM, which I think is why SM is creating connections between all of their groups' storylines, because it's all part of the same story. Plus, everything aespa does is connected to the SM Culture Universe.) In SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see the members using a map to navigate through what is thought could be the maze that the EXO members are trapped in as SuperM is coming to rescue EXO from the Red Force's control. And it could even have something to do with the fact that we see in SHINee's new teaser video for their Hard album, that they are also trying to solve a maze, which -- because SHINee's Taemin is a member of SuperM -- could possibly be SHINee trying to help EXO as well. We also see EXO's Sehun (EXO's other main rapper) on the motorcycle in "Tempo", which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV. In the very last scene in "Tempo", that is Baekhyun with that glass cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline, and it probably has something to do with the fact that Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in most of EXO's story. (We also see Chanyeol with a glass cube, similar to the one Baekhyun has, in their "Love Shot" MV.)

Because you enjoyed "Call Me Baby" so much, you definitely should also check out the EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version. If you watch the two versions side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dance sections where you might think "it looks the same" there are different members doing different parts. The two versions of their MVs may look similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also, if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. For example, in the Mandarin version you will see the EXO-M (Chinese) members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. In the Korean version a lot of the main parts were sung by D.O., but if you watch the mandarin version, you will see that Lay sings those parts, and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version it's Chanyeol and Sehun, etc. Also, if you watch the Mandarin version you will be able to see a different sports car with Tao driving the car instead of Kai. Also notice how, just like in "Wolf" and "Growl" the camera is another character in the story, which is supposed to represent the girl they are singing to. And when Chen makes that transition by jumping through the doorway, notice how his outfit changes from all black to him now wearing red, which could possibly mean it goes from Chen the good EXO member who is telling us (the girl) to don't "call me baby" as a warning to watch out for the Red Force, and then in the next frame we see X-EXO, alter ego Chen appear in red. When you see something red or someone wearing red in anything to do with EXO, that usually means it has something to do with the Red Force, which are the evil force in EXO storyline. In "Call Me Baby" there are only 10 members because this song came out in 2015 and it was the first MV after 2 of EXO's Chinese members left -- Kris left right after their "Overdose" MV came out and Luhan left about 6 months later in 2014. This also was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao (The tall, blond with the orange shoes who is the youngest member of EXO-M) left the group shortly after "Call Me Baby." Fun fact: Leading up to the release of the "Call Me Baby" MV, there were 10 Pathcode teasers that were released over several weeks. There was a short teaser video for each of the members, and combined with clues from an SM Entertainment twitter account, we had to piece together the story and solve the mystery to reveal the release date and title of EXO's new song, which ended up being "Call Me Baby." If you notice, there are 10 letters in the title "Call Me Baby" so there was one letter per EXO member. If you want to watch their Pathcode teasers just search SM's KZread channel. They are all there. The stories in the teasers also connect to EXO's larger storyline as well, and it is thought that they not only show clues to "Call Me Baby," but they also reveal more clues to EXO's storyline and tell a little more of EXO's story. The Pathcode videos are super interesting and very mysterious, just like everything EXO does.
