As well as not having the bigger brakes and more bhp, yours also doesn’t have the VAQ E-Diff up front. This is standard on the performance pack. The VAQ diff is an electronically controlled differential and needs to be serviced even on FWD cars. Also, the DQ381 is a wet clutch gearbox not a dry box. The DQ250 like you said is a good gearbox.

The dq381 is definitely a wet clutch, also the gti performance comes with a proper lsd, I believe yours is the same as the polo with the XDS diff

Get it mapped at r tech it’s the best for vag cars and they give u swappable maps

Doesn’t have the lsd, performance pack does it’s also the same lsd used on the cupras can possibly get it put in but won’t be cheap. I had my gti stage 3 from r tech if you end up buying a 2nd hand is38 make sure to get one from a facelift golf r, S3 or cupra as they made a lot of different revisions from 2014-2020 to make it more reliable

I’ve got a 8v s3 took mine to R Tech highly recommended known for tuning these engines

R-TEC or VRS are the best for VAG

Take it to vrs, for mapping

Love gti and R but they should come with leather as standard shame they don’t

No lsd on the non performance pack. Take it to devil developments for tuning

Would the different gearbox’s be difference in the not having the “DSG fart noise” ?? As I have 2017 gti performance with a res delete but don’t get the noise

Yep it’s that, yours wont fart because it’s the dq381 and gpf model, his is the dq250 without gpf so it farts

Hi mate, did you do pcp? Or HP? If so how are you allowed to modify with res delete ect…??? I’m looking at getting a cupra 290 on pcp and have no clue if I can do that ?

PCP they expect most to hand the car back instead of paying the balloon payment so you cannot mod it, HP you pay monthly and it doesnt go back to the dealership so you "own" the car more but your best off trying get a loan from the bank as it will be lower interest rates and then you fully own the car.
