First Picture From Mythomorphia / Kerby Rosanes / Tree Man

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

April 11 2017 Mythomorphia came out by Kerby Rosanes. This is my first picture finished from this book. I had trouble picking a first because so many of the pictures called out for me. Enjoy

Here's a cool fact about the picture, it's a mythological character called The Green Man, statues of him exist in the old and ancient cathedrals of Europe.

I love how your page came out. After true green and before light umber, there's a light shade on the face. What is that color. I really like it. As I go along with your video, I hope you don't mind if I ask more questions?

Great minds think alike, I colored mine very much like this...of course, unfortunately it doesn't look this good. This is very striking, thank you for sharing your talent. Will you be doing more out of this book? I might wait so I can color along and not mess mine up lol.

I am thinking about doing the pegasus next but I am not sure if I will do both sides of the page. I have one from Twilight that I started and want to finish that one too.

when you said in beginning, you lay down a layer of wax. what kind of wax and how do you lay it down? just found this and am curious. love your picture.

It's just a light wax pencil layer to get the area all creamy and able to be blended.

What do you think of the paper quality? Is it similar to Hanna Karlzon or Johanna Basford? Thanks. (I haven't used any of his books before.)

No it's very different. It's more like a smooth card stock. You won't get as many layers and the tooth is very easy to fill. On Hanna's paper the tooth is much sharper, takes much more layers. It's similar to Johanna Basford. It's a bit heavier than hers.

This was a while ago. I don't remember specifically, but a picture that size would have been 3-4 days working 2-3 hours per day.

This is "The Green Man" in mythology. Not tree man, he's supposed to be green. However you did a great job coloring.

I don't like to do any of my picture in the traditional way. Putting my own artistic spin on things makes it much more fun for me but I find it interesting that he is green. I have never seen him before. I am working in the new disney book and the original artwork is on the opposite page. I did one page using the colors the artist used and became bored really quickly.

Oh I understand I didn't mean for my comment to come off like that. I often color things out of the norm for what their typical colors "should be" :)

I have a bunch on there already. But, I mean when I start making brand new ones. (I am embarrassed about my first coloring book page. But it is what it is.). Was still fresh out of the gate.
