It also helps to keep the coyotes away. I do this whenever I let my dogs out at night to use the bathroom. The louder you are, the more likely they will stay away

I'm really interested in improving my diet and supplementing or vitamining in the areas where my normal diet is missing the things I should be eating. All your videos are wonderful. You make your life in nature look wonderful but I know it is also "hard/difficult" in some ways...a tradeoff of simplicity and healthy living at low economic cost in exchange for sacrificing some comfort and convenience. Thanks for showing us another way that appears to be very healthy for both the soul and the body.

Also, never expect a light-duty car to do the work of a heavy duty 4 wheel drive. The CVT transmission in a Subaru will never hold up to this type of use, and will always be susceptible to repeat expensive repairs. Keep your credit card handy. Or trade it in on a diesel 4-wheel drive, like a newer Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon, or the all-new diesel Jeep Wrangler. Both of them are real four wheel drive with ground clearance, design for pulling trailers, much better than a car, and they don't have CVT transmissions. Did I mention how bad CVT transmissions are? 😉😎

Thanks for all the entertaining and informative stuff! You guys are the best! I am 75, and so is my wife when she tells me to take out the garbage. When we were both young and pretty we lived in some very small dwellings that were portable, and floated. Then, when children started to appear we moved ashore and bought a house. We still live in that same house, except for when I get sent out back to the barn for bad behavior. The children have disappeared; but they sometimes return on a temporary basis, always with partners and more children. ...I think I know what's going on. But I digress. My real purpose in writing is to warn you NEVER cruise around in a Subaru Forester with bad drive shafts/CV joints. If one breaks it can cause your wheel to fall off, potentially damaging your brake system , exhaust, differential, and more. And it can cause loss of control and directional stability. ...enough said. Thanks again kids; and keep up the good works!! We love ya!

Great video!! I totally understand how you were feeling...my goal this summer was to stay at our cabin ALONE, to see if I could do it! I did but went thru all your same emotions...I had a dog, a bat, but also shotgun...I am more afraid of people in the woods then animals ...ever!!! I would rather be mauled than attacked! It's funny just how comforting it is when your alone and you turn on your favorite show and hear their voices!

Pro tip. CV joints "GENERALLY" last pretty much forever. The usual cause of death isn't age, use, or wear but a problem with the boot. Check them often since you off-road so much. Usually a split or crack in the boot, or the boot clamp popping off kills it. Once this happens the grease can escape and dirt and shit can get in.

You have more to fear living amongst all the crazy people’s that live in towns and cities. I am at peace in the wilderness. I’ve been going camping for 52 years and will do so, until l am no longer physically or mentally able to do so. I am 67yo now, with excellent health. I eat and drink only what nature provides. 😊

Once on a freezing night while in a tent, i remembered that we had big stones around the campfire. I wrapped a couple in towels and put them at the bottom of my sleeping bag and they kept me warm all night, so maybe put some stones or your caste iron on the stove and use them to keep you warm in bed!!

You have whiskey, you slept a great night and superfood in the AM. Girl, you could so do this bys. Not that you would want to. But, no worry about being alone. You got this young lady!!!
