First Meet And Greet With People From Abroad Who Moved To Kumasi, Ghana.

Since living in Ghana after moving from the UK to Ghana this is the first meet and greet of our small community of diasporans who moved to Kumasi, Ghana. We all shared our stories of moving to Ghana and why we moved to Kumasi and not Accra as many from the diaspora do when they move back to Ghana.

A Nigerian friend told me that most Nigerians/West Africans who are African minded will choose Kumasi over Accra any day and I wasn’t surprised. Accra seems to be for people who subconsciously crave Western lifestyle. If you’re truly African, you’d absolutely love Kumasi than Accra. I’m Ghanaian American and planning to move back to Kumasi to be exact within the next decade. Will split my early years of transition between Washington DC and Kumasi before I fully retire in OSEIKROM.

That was beautiful to watch. Love the venue, the people, the vibe, the atmosphere, etc. Kumasi has so much greenery... No wonder it is called the garden city of Ghana. Love your content but the videography here was on a whole new level. Love the way you showcased the venue and its environs. Great stuff. Looking at you all together, I couldn't help think how great it would be if a group of returnees could perhaps consider pooling funds together and invest in or create an industry and own the whole value chain. It could be agribusiness for e.g.and turning the farm produce into finished products for the consumers, supermarkets, etc. Difficult to do something like that alone but working together, that can be achieved more easily. The Lebanese, Chinese, Indian, etc do this all the time. It would be great if we could also get together in groups to create our own industries too, to create employment and retain the wealth within Ghana and Africa.

Thanks so much! You are absolutely right with coming together and pooling funds together for creating value. This is why it was a great idea coming together. There’s power in numbers. As we get to know each other I believe we can start something small in future and scale it.

have been meaning to you sir, does your children regret settling down here, maybe you are okay with it personally but about them, leaving the luxury lifestyle, friends, school and everything behind and coming to start everything new here. Are they okay

Great question, Patrick. Thanks for asking. They are happy here since they have a better lifestyle here. The boys talked about it in the last two videos we did with our friends from the Eastern region. Sure the girls missed their friends in the beginning, but they stay in touch. They’ve made new friends in school. Lilia was voted as the sports prefect this week. We will talk more about it in an upcoming video. There’s one thing we should never forget. The most important things a child needs are love, security and education. If you can provide these for them they would be happy in any environment. Being in the west does not equate to luxury life. They are many who live miserable lives there. In the same way you can create a beautiful lifestyle here in Ghana.

It is great seeing how people are faring well in Ghana. Which part of Kumasi are you? I couldn’t afford land due to how gentrification has made that essential commodity overly expensive. Anyways, I have a property at Emena-KNUST, one at Donyina behind Appiadu, and two extra plots yet to be utilized at Kwaso around Ejisu.
