The last time I saw a complete song being done all in one go on a workstation in that short a time it was on a Roland Fantom and I bought that baby. I am going to buy this one too. Drums and instruments with superior sequencing wow. 🤩

This is why whenever a kid tells me they want to get into music production I tell them to take piano lessons.

So far, I’ve only seen two styles of music composed on this keyboard: Hip-Hop and dance. Let’s say I want to write a song in the style of Toto’s Africa, how would that be done?

I use an MPC Groovebox for ambient and prog rock so TOTO not really a problem. It’s like any DAW though it has its limitations which can be annoying and also workflow quirks. It’s entirely down how you feel about it whether it’s workflow is right for you.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the overall maximum polyphony using the base sampled sounds and the expected polyphony using the onboard synth models, pianos and ep's. Just wondering since these days, 128 to 256 voices of polyphony are becoming more of the standard for workstation synths.

Woah...Akai closed the gap to its competitors...after more than 5 years... Those mad lads of akai might even go so far and offer it in a different color at namm '23 Their sigma grind mentality is pure savage^^

This thing seems really cool but I already have aLive 2 so I feel like it wouldn't make sense for me rather than just getting a NI or Roland keyboard. I could always get the new plugins when the price drops to normal levels. Very cool device though.

  • @ForecastGrim

Its not but it is Double the ram of all other stand alone MPC and trust me it needs it. Very disappointed in the lack of sd slot lack of control knobs. If they release a retro color way on the Key 61 I'd lean strongly on adding one to the studio
