Great video and what a jewel of a Lake. How big were these Kokanee, inch wise. 17-20” are true trophies. Also I’m glad you mentioned bleeding your fish while still alive. So many guides kill their fish then try and bleed them, much tougher and don’t bleed out that way

Always enjoy learning from you. My question is this - when you are initially unsure where the kokes are, do you just stagger your lines at different depths? One at 15, one at 20, 30, 40, etc.? And do you have a systematic approach with colors? This is the one puzzle piece I'm hoping you can explain or direct me to another video in which you explain. I was at Fish Lake on Saturday. Spent half the time fishing for lake trout, but we still landed 4 kokes. Biggest was 19". You'll enjoy it when your tour comes to Fish Lake. Thanks.

Michael, I'm heading to fishlake Wednesday after Lakers as well. Any thoughts or pointers for depth and general location? How deep were the kokes you landed? Thanks!

@@kirkesplin7292 Hi Kirk, I saw most lake trout activity on the south end of the lake. I only caught two pups, but when we had one pup just 10' below us, what looked like a shark came up to check out the pup. It was an amazing lake trout, but we didn't get him. The kokes were all caught at 20' on pink kokanee rigs. I've previously found the schools in the middle of the lake. This time, we found a school just about 400 yards north of the Lake Side marina and just went back through it a few times. The incidental rainbows were also caught, but the rainbows at Fish Lake are looking healthier over the past two years. Good luck!

Michael yes I’ll usually initially stagger my lines until I find where they are hanging out for the day. Early in the morning I’ll even runs a pole or two right on top. Once I start catching I’ll target that depth or if I start marking them on my fish finder I’ll adjust also. Colors can change day by day but pink is usually always good so I’ll start with a couple pink lures and then vary the colors on my other poles. If I have a color consistently getting more action I’ll put more of that color out. Thanks for your feedback I’m excited to get down to Fish Lake I’ve heard nothing but good things.

Non-stop action! What a great morning Matt. The size is getting consistent. Double ups make it even better. Good to see your pops on deck with you. Gonna have to go over to @Hushin and see his version now. Great pointer on bleeding them out it makes the fillets tastier. So jealous of your cleaning station. Was this your BDay trip?

Hey there really enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering something I see you and other serious Kokanee fisherman I watch have nice boats and are equipped with kicker motors as well as electric bow mount motors. Most of you favor the electric. I assume because it is quiet and possibly spook's the kokanee less. Or possibly the fact that the nice electric motors can pretty much drive the boat for you. All of those reasons definitely are reason enough to have one and use it. I was wondering if you have ever done a comparison or experienced a big difference in production of the amount of fish you catch when using electric vs kicker? I would imagine you have experimented in the past. Just curious if a kicker motor hurts your chances? I am new to kokanee fishing and have a small boat with tiller that I primarily use to troll with. So just gauging if that will diminish my chances greatly. Thanks for the great videos.

Great question. I primarily use my electric because it makes it much easier to steer. It may help not scare the fish when they are right in the surface but generally Kokanee are caught at about 30ft down and at that depth I don’t believe it scares them. One advantage of using an kicker is you have to manually steer and as a result are making constant adjustments that creates more action in your lines and can help trigger strikes. With an electric you are going in a dead straight line. Long story short - an electric motor definitely makes things easier but you don’t need one to catch Kokanee.
