    No celebrating as a white belt… don’t ever take your eye off your opponent… bow looking. Don’t keep the same grip… slow down a bit… you have amazing potential.

    @@rac4058 No, actually the bow, as it was meant by Jigoro Kano Shihan, should last 3 seconds, during which the judoka, if male, must look ahead. Only women, in theory, should bow looking down. Now, that's the theory, and we should keep in mind that judo was born in 1882 and that it comes from Ju-Jutsu, which is much, much older. Consequentially the culture was very different at the time and, personally, I think it would be pointless to judge.

    damnn nice kuzushi and control of your opponent, i like how fluid and dynamic your movements are, not stiff as white belts tend to be. you have potential. your first tournament went way way better than mine ahhaha, the first match ended so fast because she managed to get an over the shoulder grip and from then onwards i was fucked because she had the dominant grip and control over me, and as a newbie i didnt know how to appropriately respond in that situation

    Any tips on where to have kids take Judo classes in northeast Ohio? Can’t find a place. Everything is BJJ or Tae kwon do

  • @AngelJudo

    @AngelJudo

    7 ай бұрын

    In all honesty, if you are unable to find a Judo dojo then BJJ will work just fine as they will still be learning fundamental skills for grappling. Once they're able to build a foundation, it'll help to drill takedowns (which BJJ does also have). Hope this helps.

  • @Memeshollanda

    @Memeshollanda

    Жыл бұрын

    @@AngelJudo yeah, switching to left grip is good if you get stuck. You undo your opponents grip that way and you can go for a right ippon seoi nage with the left grip. Also you can try to get your right hand over the top or underneath, this way you can easier to control your opponent and have more leverage.

    Find a nearby dojo and go. They'd give you better advice as it will typically be 3-4 months before you'll have enough basics for your first competition. So much to learn, but training in the club is can be similar to actual competitions -- same area, officials, scoring, etc. The only difference is you know the people you are sparing with. They'll get your ready. Looking back 40 years ago, my only advice for your first match is... take your socks off. I was 12 and so nervous I forgot to take my socks off. LOL.

    foot sweeps have the potential to end a match fast and out of nowhere. they are an insane tool and can catch your opponent off guard, even if it fails can always lead into other techniques from it
