As a Turkish person, it is really difficult to live under those circumstances. Enflation never stops. The price might be much more than that it was yesterday. They increased the minimum wage but it caused to increment on the prices. People mostly talk about economics, about how it is different than past, how we can't afford things... As a young person, it is really difficult to even have a hobby. All people are waiting for the election at the next year Enjoy your trip!

How do you enjoy life actually living in Turkey?
Welcome back! 🙂 As a Turkish & Australian citizen who prefers to living in Turkey, Adana and Ankara; I appriciate your nice objective videos and comments which are not common in most european visitors unfortunately.
I am Turkish here. Glad you are making such videos makes me emotional. Just to answer your question, the minimum wage is around 300€ (It raised in turkish lira value for sure but not so much in euros) while the gas prices are around 1.6€ which is around the same as Italy for example. There are stuff that are cheap but surely stuff that are even more expensive than EU. Turkish people sure are struggling.... sadly. Most of the turkish population is living under poverty rate (have been like this for many years tho nothing too different) ... But yeah, thank you for being here, fighting with prejedgement and stereotypes. Enjoy

Maybe is not your case, but all around the world I saw a lot of people using a lot of electric or gas to warm every room in the house when they only use one room. Unfortunately things are changed and we should minimise our spending, try to be minimalist, so you we will save a lot of money and we will be more happy. Talking from experience. 1 year living in small van as a family of 4 😃
Hey I think your video is mega cool. You are very honest and objective. Thanks for the content
I don't think the new name Türkiye will catch on any time soon. I live here and asked several Turkish friends about it and not one was aware of it. I wasn't until I saw your video. I am glad you noticed the big differences in prices because yes the price of everything has shot up but there has not been a corresponding increase in salaries/wages. In my own case, my Turkish salary (or should we now change the adjective to Türk???) ıncreased by nearly 25% but the rent on my house went up from 700tl to 1,200tl. Such an increase is actually illegal but here there is an anything goes kind of attitude and to challenge this would have been costly and protracted. Einally I want to say I admire your respect and love for this country but I wish you would take off your tourist/short-term visitor glasses. If you lived here, worked and earnt your living here, you would see the country from a totally different and more realistic perspective

I personally don't like to refer to Turkey as a Turkiye, it's an international name and difficult to adjust to a new name, especially if you live abroad. In addition, I don't trust any of the new regulations that Erdogan made. Every language has homonymous terms, thus it is not a big deal.

@@sc8120 I agree - Swedish people don't have a problem with being a Swede, also the name of a vegetable in English. China doesn't have a problem having the same name as a type of porcelain. @@furkanozturk3545 Hi Furkan. Thanks for your comment. A long time ago I lived in Istanbul and then Ankara. I came back to Turkey 4 years ago because I wanted to see how it is now so it had to be somewhere that is the 'real' Turkey. Not the cosmopolitan cities or the tourist areas along Akdeniz but a place where only Turkish people live. I was offered and accepted a job in Kahramanmaraş and that is where I live now. At 1,200 the rent is still affordable for me - the average rent here is now more than 2,000tl for a 2/3 bedroom unfurnished apartment. But the area I live in is an older part of the city, very rundown and neglected but for me it has a Turkish character that the modern parts of the city lack

I visited this year also and found the prices quite high even with British pounds but happy to say there are cheaper alternatives to pretty much eating out, house prices and rent have rocketed I know as few of my relatives had to leave there home to find cheaper rent, yes there was a pay rise but not equal to the inflation unfortunately leaving locals struggle.
