HELLO THERE:
I'm Joe, relatively new to KZread but really excited to be a part of this community. I live small and sustainably in my home on wheels (a lovely van called Freyja) and from time to time out of my backpack (I have not named the backpack yet). On this channel, I bring you along on my travel journeys off the beaten track where I try to show you the beauty of untouched nature and wander into places where most tourists don't dare to go.

Thank you man, what a nice video to summarize our country and culture. It's always pleasing to see our guests take time to connect with us and see where we're coming from. I should say I personally don't really have a very traditional Turkish lifestyle or mindset, I'm mostly living a western lifestyle but I still love when our lovely visitors care about listening and learning about what's beneath the surface about our country, our people, our culture, our history, our art and especially the diversity of Turkey, instead of seeing a few famous historical places, enjoy the beaches, take some selfies and leave. I am sure everyone in the world can find at least one thing they've been looking for somewhere in Turkey. Whether it's a memory, a place, a souvenir, or a person; you need to just come and find it and enjoy the process :)

Hey Jo, you're sharing pretty good videos about Turkey, congrats and thank you for the entertainment. What I wanted to say you is, that we have a lot of good music. The most common instrument in Turkey is "Bağlama". You can find it in every region in Turkey. In the second place we have "Kabak Kemane". In the third place and all around the Blacksea region we have "Kemençe". I will share you a list with the instruments and you can find them on the internet. And FYI, if you are interested in the Turkish culture, you could also listen and watch Mabel Matiz on KZread. He is super famous for his cultural music-videos about Turkey :) 1. Bağlama 2. Kabak Kemane 3. Kemençe 4. Zurna 5. Davul (very important in weddings :) ) 6. Def 7. Yaylı Tambur 8. Ud 9. Darbuka 10. Delbek 11. Kanun

Not the same Language family per se. Uralic and Altaic(Nowadays, it is named as Transeurasian sprachbund BTW, since we discovered that they were not from the Altai region, but from south and central Siberia about 1500 kms east of Altai) are different families, and the latter one might not be a proper genetic family. However ancestor of what would become proto-Turkic had significant p. Uralic affiliation in its base (predating the introduction of horses) as well as Transeurasian. Still, with our current understanding of linguistics, we can't say those those languages are genetically related, and even if so they must have been seperated well over 5000 years ago.

Just a quick correction about the languages: Turkic and Uralic languages started off from approximately around the same broader Siberian taiga-steppe transition zone, however a genetic connection can't be established with our current understanding of linguistics. Artificial intelligence studies suggest that the ancestral base of their proto languages must have shared a partial common ancestor(or influencer) but it must have been well over 8 - 10 thousand years so it is pretty unconventional methodology. BTW your ancestors didn't go up "north". They moved to west, it was the ancestors of the Turks that moved to south. Anyway, nice video. Thanks. And sorry for that tad bit of an autistic-ish comment but I had to make that correction. Greetings from Turkey.

    6) Zebra crossing.... you're damn right. Zebra crossings in Turkey are for decoration. And drivers are one of the worst in Europe if not in the world. 5) Where to eat in Turkey - not to eat city centre; that's the short answer. I would say rule No1: never eat just outside of Grand Bazaar ( I am not here to bash other people but the facts) The owners are mainly just arrived refugees or some mafia from other countrys' who want to make a quick buck and also dangerous for the customers. You don't want to mess with them. Tip: if you are really hungry and don't want to go far away to new part of Istanbul CBD, then record everything when ordering the food and prices. And don't argue with them but go to Police and show all the evidence. Restaurant and cafes in Grand Bazaar is trusted, 100 years old family-run businesses by Turks and Armenians. On the other hand, Turks and Armenians left most of the gift shops to Arabs or Kurds. Most of the new owners of gift shops aren't Armenians or Turks but Arabs and Kurds. 4) Hmmm! I love Arabs, and have nothing against them but if you're making a video on Turkey why not use Turkish music instead of Arabis music (or as we say in Turkey ' Arabesk' Turkic music yes, but not Arabic music if it's about Turkey, please. Use Arabic music when making videos about Saudi Arabia etc. 1 ) Cats and dogs have the rights before humans in Turkey. Of course, Cats can sit and enjoy the restaurant but you can go. If you want to stay in the restaurant, the cat or the dog has to stay, too. If you had thrown the dog or cat, I would have been upset as a customer.

Ataturk modernise Turkey not westernized it. Ottoman culture influenced Europe since Turks colonised Balkan Europe. Christians were backward people in 14/15th century and so Ottomans could colonise large part of Europe. Christians also had to modernize themselves and get away from backwardness like saying earth is flat, doing crusade and believing that answer to everything is in Bible.
