Hopefully you guys will get a chance to visit Manila Bay again and witness the world famous Manila Sunset. You were already there when you were at MOA, but it looked like you were there early and it was also overcast at that time. Enjoy!!!

Filipinos are genuinely nice and courteous to foreigners... Many expats have the same experience.. Filipinos are down to earth race in the world... the Philippines is a hidden gem in southeast asia.. Why I say this? Most western tourists only know Thailand on their travel bucket list when it comes to Southeast Asia... little did they know that the Philippines is way better.. I myself can attest to that.. Its the people that makes them better than their neighboring countries..

@@bohoxplorer840 1 You know manila has alot to offer as well. Its a treasure waiting to be explored. Just like Bangkok or many other large cities. I remember one of my trips to philippines i had just got off the plane..cleared customs. I had no luggage only small carry on seeing i had a house outside manila. As i stepped out of the air port i found my self taking a deep breath and thinking aaah manila. The smell of all the steet venders cooking filled the air. Manila is a great place to explore...it offers a divers cultural richness and a mix of modern day living. I have lived in different areas of the philippines from manila suburbs to small fishing village to a resort island. In fact we are getting reafy to move back to the ncr well about 2 hrs outside it in Bulacan. You need to realize each person has there own interests in what they enjoy and what the area and culture has to offer them. You can be happy in a plush rain forest and find contentment there other may find interest in the cultural jewel manila

All the Philipinos I met here in Canada were very friendly, I am tempted to go visit the Philippines.

Filipino hospitality is unparalleled. I love the Philippines and imho the best and most beautiful country in Asia and overall the world. The diversity, the people, the beaches, the nature and the foods are amazing. It’s more fun in the Philippines!

They will be blown away by what you were suggesting because S.A has beautiful beaches too. Masyado kang crab mentality na bisaya ka.

The mal of Asia is amazing. The area around Manila Bay is interesting. If you like live music there are little bars around that offer great food and entertainment. Some places have multiple band play. They switch off every few songs. The Philippines is known for great musicians. Have a great time!

Correction: "Salamat, po." is exactly like "Kap kun, krap/ka." "Maraming salamat" means "Thank you very much." "Salamat" means "Thank you." "Po" is an ending term for respect. "Mabait" means "nice" or "kind."

Wow, your excitement is contagious! You make me feel like I’m with you! I’m enjoying your blog really. You guys seem to be free spirited and adventurers. I’m a Filipino living outside the Philippines and really appreciate you showing a place like the Mall of Asia which I haven’t been to. BTW, the one I enjoyed when I was there was Subic and stayed at ACEA Subic Beach Resort. You might want to check that out. It is relaxing there and the Hotel looked like it’s hugging the beach. The place is calming.

One thing I love with the Filipinos, and even myself I experienced this when we visit another place away from our hometome. Filipinos treat visitors like celebrities. Everyone are really special for us. I hope we can maintain this character and pass this on to the next generation.

Salamat pô (the word "pô" is a kind of expression with courtesy or respect). It's expressing thanks to somebody with so much respect.

Filipinos are so friendly as you can see smiles on their face while waving hands on visiting foreigners & mostly understands english although some can't speak fluently.

The Philippine collective cultural identity is hispanic-asian, however due to more colonization and globalization, it became more westernized leaning towards US American culture. Our colonial history is summed-up as "300 years in a convent and 50 years in hollywood." (Basically more than 300 years under Spain and 50 years under the US) What you mentioned is on-point, that is the semblance of Spanish, American, and even Mexican influence. Spanish was once an official language in the country until 1986. English was an official language for decades. During the conquest by Spain, they brought native Aztec/Mayan colonialists to conquer the archipelago. The mexican cultural exchange was emphasized during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. That's why this is probably the only country in asia with native nahuatl (native american language) influence. We do use nahuatl words suh as palenque, tiangue, atsuete, sayote, etc. Just like our former president Osmeña said, The Philippines is both comfortable on the civilizations of the east and the west. And that Filipinos are the most oriental of the occident, and the most occidental of the orient. Thr Philippines is the bridge between the east and the west. In this country, you'll see an amalmagation of Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, Native Southeast Asian, and American culture. This diversity is being reflected on our cuisine, tradition, racial ambiguities and culture. Here, you'll see people eating paellas, flan and arguellanas just like in Spain. Every time I go back there, I have at least 1 green mango shake each day. I would have 1 every hour if I could. It's just so refreshingly delicious. You guys have to try it at least once. It should be available pretty much at any restaurant.

Here are other business districts of Metro Manila aside from BGC and MOA Bay area: 1. Ayala Center Makati 2. Ortigas Center 3. Filinvest City Alabang 4. Eastwood City 5. Rockwell Makati 6. Mc Kinley Hill and the famous Venice Grand Canal Mall 7. Greenfield District Mandaluyong 8. Araneta City 9. Alabang Westgate 10. ASEANA City. Thank you for sharing your first impressions of Manila. Your enthusiasm is contagious and your appreciation of all that the Philippines has to offer is welcomed by the locals. We Filipinos love to treat foreigners to our special brand of hospitality. Of course, as experienced travelers, you know there are always downsides to foreign locales especially in "Third World" countries, and you may have to adjust your rosy-colored view to align with reality. However, as long as you're flexible, patient, and careful, the experience should be positively memorable.

I ask you to get out to the Provinces , for a more balanced view , & the people are not so 'westernised' sure they speak english if they want (much like the french) , they understand , get the exchange rate right & you will do much better than banks or W/Union , The provinces are near untouched beauty , I would not drive there again , traveling with locals is far cheaper,& unknown parts become available
