First Impressions of Bosnia & Herzegovina | Kravice Waterfall, Pocitelj, and Blagaj

After we finished making our way down the coast of Croatia, we crossed the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina- country #2 of our Balkans road trip! This is honestly a country we did not know much about but all it took was one day and we were immediately blown away!
We started our first morning at the Kravice Waterfall which is a series of waterfalls that expands nearly 100 feet tall and 500 feet across along a cliff’s edge. Unlike the Plitvice Waterfall in Croatia, you can swim in Kravice so we jumped in first thing and enjoyed the cool water and beautiful setting - the waterfalls are surrounded by the trees, giving the entire area a “hidden paradise” kind of a feel.
After Kravice, we made our way to Pocitelj which is this really cool, small medieval town on the banks of the Neretva River! Počitelj is a hillside town complete with picturesque houses, fortified stone walls and a fortress. We wandered around the cobblestone streets and climbed to the top of a tower for some beautiful panoramic views of the town and river below.
Finally we made our way to Blagaj - we visited the very popular Dervish Monastery before making our way above town to the Blagaj Fort. We were SO impressed with the fortress. It was built on a high karst hill, 275 meters above sea level. It was incredibly well preserved and offered some amazing long range views!
After a very long but amazing day, we made our way to Mostar to get ready for our next adventure in Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Thank you for visiting, please come again! On a sidenote, the house in Blagaj is not a monastery, it's an old turkish dervish house.

We feel compelled to finally leave a comment after the dung beetle clip and dialogue. In our house, we watch all your videos and eagerly wait for the new ones to drop. We started watching when you did a video on Twin Falls, ID, which is where I grew up. I shared the Idaho videos with my Idaho family and we all learned a lot that we didn't know before. We love your energy, the choices you make in destinations and experiences, and we are living vicariously through all your adventures. Thank you for all your hard work, we know this is a huge effort. We are all fantasizing that you get an offer to do your own show and that you don't have to go back to regular jobs.

Fun fact that castle at 4:30 is not medieval but was built by our ancestors thousands of years ago as a lookout spot seeing all the ships coming in and going but was then rebuilt during the medieval times under the Kingdom of Bosnia.Sadly many ppl when they hear Bosnia automatically think of war, death, destruction ,its not safe ,yet its probably one of the safest countries in all of Europe.Bosnia has thousands of lakes ,rivers ,ponds, thousands of small and big waterfalls, has the last primeval rainforest Peručica in all of Europe or 1 of the 2,has thousands of unexplored cave systems some small others are massive,90% of the country is nothing but green everywhere you look. You can go swimming in the sea, hike some of the biggest mountains, explore places no one has gone before, everything is really cheap, probably some of the most generous and hospitable ppl you will meet anywhere, and thats not even 5%.Thousands of castles, megalithic cities like Daorson, stećci dotting the entire country (megalithic stone blocks with ancient bosnian symbols, writing, mythology) and much much more.I honestly believe Bosnia will become one of the most tourist visited countries in the Balkans and in Europe and you can see that with each passing year as the number of tourists doubles and triples. All good people from around the world are welcome regardless of race, religon, country,we welcome all the same way.Love from a Bosnian-American

I love traveling Balkans, though your way of traveling is not budget-friendly (on my level of budget standard), still I watch them before going to travel. Keep traveling and keep posting for us. We loved Kyrgyzstan and we would have loved to see all of the Stans but many are closed due to covid. We did plan to visit Uzbekistan but when we went to get our E-visa, the site was down and the embassy in Bishkek told us it was take a week to get a visa through them.. so we left the Stans for Turkey but we might circle back 😉

5:47 Cevapi served with fries is a crime. I honestly think you picked the worst place to try that in Bosnia haha :) Cevapi is not a specialty in the south of the country, but Sarajevo, Travnik and Tuzla are Cevapi capitals of the country.
