In Kazakhstan there are two types of horse meat: for racing and specifically for food. and I’ll tell you horse meat is the most environmentally friendly meat. our horses graze in the steppes, eat wormwood and are not sick with chemicals.

I am an Almaty citizen since birth. But currently I live in the states. Have lived in couple of different continents and traveled a bit… I can proudly say Almaty is one of the most convenient cities in the world as well as one of the most beautiful. It definitely has its own backsides but in general it’s good place to live and have family. I appreciate your openness and kindness Douglas, willingness to try horse meat and live in yurt. However, there is one suggestion, I wish you would learn 2-3 important words in kazakh: as thank you, good buy and hello and not reply in russian. As respect to our culture and language we try to speak in kazakh with kazakh person, especially when you greet elderly. It is considered rude to reply in russian when older person speaks to you in kazakh. Just a small notice. I assume if you an experienced traveler, you know it is nice to learn couple of local words it’s not gonna hurt. Thanks

Except for ruZZians. We don't tolerate especially ruZZian speaking 'kazakhs', especially since January 2022 when ruZZian forces came and shot dead 238 beautiful kazakhs, patriots. ruZZian speaking kazakhs are the most ignorant people with ruZZian mentality, who also support ruZZian war against Ukraine.

Thats food from that restaurant nearby medey actually looks very tasty that make me feel hungry 🤤

I'm from Kazakhstan and I wanted to thank you for showing the real beauty of Kazakhstan. It's actually sad that lots of people know this country only by Borat and other bad stuff. To be honest Kazakhstan is a very beautiful place 🩵 Please, don't judge a country just by one information. There might be hidden more beauty that you don't know yet🌱

As local person I have to warn extreme hikers or travellers to take precautions in the mountains or steppes. It would be better to plan extreme travelling with someone experienced. All warnings (winds, hard rains etc) to mobiles are made in Kazakh and Russian languages, not in English. Except for possible harsh weather conditions foreign tourists in the steppe or desert often misjudge the huge distances between housings.

I loved watching this video! It's really entertaining and interesting in general to see your reaction to our national dishes and traditions, I've been trying to take my friends from college in California to Kazakhstan to show them my culture, I can't wait!

The girl was wrong. The meaning of the city is not exactly the father of apples (alma ata). This is a mistake of that Soviet power. Apples don't have a father. In fact, the importance of the city is an apple city (Almaty).

я как казахстанец хочу предупредить туристов, что вас могут обмануть таксисты. Они могут сказать, например, 2000, а по прибытии скажут что это была сумма в долларах, а не тенге. Один турист обратился в правохранительные органы и получил свои деньги обратно.

Ну это везде так. Все так таксисты везде одинаковы. Мы посещаем разные страны и поэтому я могу так сказать)) везде хотят наколоть иностранцев, независимо где ты и кто ты

When were you last in Kazakhstan? Now everyone uses taxi apps ,like Yandex, InDrive..., and nobody bargains for taxi fees anymore

Да, таксисты везде такие. В турции когда первый раз была на маленькое место долго ехал и очень много отдавала. И несколько раз обманули в разных местах. Сейчас слава Богу есть карта. Сейчас везде смотрю навигатора. И заранее спрашиваю из местных людей, дорога примерно сколько стоит. Теперь ни один таксист меня не обманет нигде слава Богу😂😂😂

1:17 girl gave inaccurate information about the origin of the word "Almaty". The city’s original name was "Almaty" which literally means "the place where the apple tree grows" in Kazakh. In 1921, the Bolsheviks/Russians changed the name to "Alma-Ata" which in Russian can be interpreted as "Father of Apples" although this is not the correct Kazakh meaning. The Kazakh language has its own characteristics, and "Alma-Ata" is not a correct translation from Kazakh. The proper name "Almaty" corresponds to the grammatical and phonetic norms of the Kazakh language.

@@template1722 Это вы не знаете достоверную историю! До Верного эта местность называлась Алматы ( яблочной местностью) Потом приперлись русские на нашу территорию и построили крепость на этой местности и назвали Верный.
