  I was in Baghdad in ‘09-‘10 (Victory Base Complex). Even then these were some of the nicest, most hospitable people I’ve ever encountered. I want to go back and see it today.

  I am a former US Army soldier who served during the Gulf War and returned for the war in Iraq in 2004. My job kept me on the military bases which the US had reoccupied from the Iraqi Army, and other than the Iraqi merchants who were compelled to live and stay on the bases during that time, I never got a chance to interact with the local population. I feel terrible that we in the US went back to Iraq under false pretenses for the second war, I would love to go back to this country one day. We cannot change the past, only strive to make the future better. The Iraqis featured in this video are a beautiful demonstration of this sentiment.

  I'm an Iraqi living in Sweden since around 1991. I have grown up to American pop culture and entertainment. I find it so surreally cool that an American can visit Iraq, a place I myself have not had the guts/reason to visit since maybe 2001, with such gusto and excitement. I long for the day we can bridge our cultures. Clearly you can see that the average Iraqi person just wants peace, freedom and dignity. I love a more secularized Iraq. I hope some day Baghdad can be a popular vacation spot.
